These are what I'm now using, along with some of the older, in spec AWs. The red AWs were too short and the new black, too long. Definitely a Goldilocks moment!

I do have a few of the black AWs that *almost* fit. I can get them out if I do the tape around the batts thing. Otherwise, fuhgetaboutit!

DP, can the Brillipower be imported?

I was unable to get my hands on any (and I spent a day or 30 trying). I got the IMRENs. Had I known how good they were, I'd probably not have bothered trying so hard for the Brills.

I was intent getting ANYTHING that wasn't AW.

@DPLongo22 - Yes, those Imren cells are my go-to now in my BBV3.x i have not adjusted, there are dealers in Holland and Germany that i use for them, one is on eBay Items in lumenlights24 shop on eBay. and seems to know his stuff. I did find the Imren's to be exactly the same under the wrapper as the metallic orange & red Trustfires, which worried me slightly, as anything with the word 'fire' in the name should be treated with caution.

@HBcorpse - If you look at the battery bay of Your BB, you see the - terminals are spring-like, what i did was use a pliers and some cloth to gently squeeze & compress them - bit by bit until the cells went in. You can just use your thumb to press them hard, but that can get old quickly, so i used the pliers, and did it over a dish cloth so i didn't damage the finish of my BB. I have 4 BB v3, two totally stock that like the button/stud topped 16340, one with compressed - terminals i run protected cells in, and one with the opposite done: i pulled the - terminals out and away from the walls of the battery bay with a ceramic tool to allow the flat-top unprotected to grip nicely.

One thing - if You compress the - terminals to make space, it's not easy getting them back to their stock shape, whereas if You bend them out, it's super easy to go back to original spacing.

IMHO, the protected batteries seem to last slightly longer, and don't 'dip' as much as the unprotected as they drain, maybe this is because they have had a better life cycle due to the rapid shutdown? Maybe it's because they are just a higher grade product.

Good info, @springer . Thank you!

Wow folks!

Lotsa new infos to readz!!!

Kinda info-overload, but here's what I got:

1. DP no likey AW no more
2. Current gen black AW too short
3. Current gen red AW too long
4. Pretty much every other brand is a scary foreign brand (to me)
5. The most recommended ones (outside of AW) can't be imported
6. I'm gonna need to alter my BBox to fit whichever battery I decide to go with, cuz I pretty much only trust AW
7. Sorry DP, but as long as their batteries are still good, I don't care if they R being the dickz about some stuff...being a mechanic, being a former smoker, and being a current vaper...well I'm used to having to make things work for my needs, rather than vice-versa.

So, I'd like to get these RTD AW IMR 16340 units.
Are those the ones I need to smash my battery terminals for?

As always, thanks in advance for all your help!
She'll be home by Tuesday!!!

Almost :). The black AWs are too long; the red ones are kinda short. You'll probably need to smoosh for the black.

Yup, they look like the current batch doing the rounds, the + button has 2 notches opposite each other, and i bet the - panel is gold plated and lightly pitted. I'm starting to think there are only really 2 types going about, and suppliers can order them with their own custom wrapping, or go with red, blue or in the case of the protected, black shrinkwrap, then the vendor can apply or spec a sticker to brand them. I notice the Keeppower has the same shape and placing for the sticker as those RTD, and the various non-protected also have the same size and style of sticker, but with different stuff printed on them.

When i took the plastic off the gold/red/orangy flattop trustfire and looked at the bare cell, it was EXACTLY the same as the Imren flattop, same batch code and style printed on to the metallic case n the same place!!!

I bought some of those black aw's from RTD, and they will actually fit without alteration to your BB, but they are a pain to get back out again, but I have made them work. I was going to order the red ones this month, but I decided to stockpile Nic and flavorings instead, because of the apocalypse. :glare:

My only hesitation in ordering the black ones is:
Once you go black, you never go back!
No seriously!
If I have to smoosh my battery terminal contacts to accommodate the longer battery (keep it together folks), trying to get them back to their original shape is fairly difficult.

So, I think I'll get the red ones, also because they're "protected" cells, and stretching the battery terminal contacts won't be a potentially permanent alteration to my device.

Right?

You got lucky, KAS. Some do fit (I have them), and some do not (I also have them). Rollin' dice.

i would love to read those pms lol

Not much to read really.. Think 2-year old throwing a tantrum in store after being told he/she can't have something..

If you all are tracking flipper prices, he offered me $500 for it with the bridge and coils.. Told me to pour the juice down the sink..

I didn't think there would be any real content in his angry pm, but the meltdown just sounded funny to read haha

That's good to know about the pricing thank you

I've also learned that many people say the black AW ICR 16340(?) will not fit.
I don't think I'd be smashin terminals, but that's just me. As birdy said.........I wrap packing tape around the batteries so that it makes a tab when the two sticky ends come together. DP said some won't fit at all, so ya may not wanna try em, but I'd do that before I'd smash terminals.

LOL!

That depends. :|;)
:shock::shock::shock: :lol:

A few weeks ago, I finally acquired a Billet Box 3.a via a trade (thanks @Kh888 ) and became an instant fan. I was lucky enough to score a Rev. 4 (Kurbis with a SS button) during yesterday's rush and would love to get a matching hybrid drip tip for it. I'm looking at the two variations offered by JMK, but would love to know if anyone else makes them. Suggestions are welcomed!

MANY thumbs-up for the Ohman tips. He makes a variety of styles, all titanium based, and the quality is the best I've seen yet.

In fact, three of us liked one of his Rev 4 versions so much, we asked him to create the same tip for our Rev 3s. Good work, that man does.
