You're probably right, although I've gotten stuff from Asia and the States that have come through without any fees. And they are high!. I don't know how it's calculated in other countries but a BB @ $264 + $56.55 shipment charge, comes out to ((($264 * 1.035 (customs)) + $56.55 (shipping)) * 1.25 (VAT)) + $24.21 (handling charge) = $436.45 total :cry::sneaky:

Ah well, gotta payz to haz, I guess :|

Yeah, and in my case I also bought an Uno, so it's even worse. The problem isn't the customs duties. 3.5% is reasonable. The fact that VAT is 25% of not only the unit, but also shipping--that's the real killer. The handling charge is the same regardless of the value of the shipment.

Ah well, I'm going to be back in the States (GA, not UT, unfortunately) in September, so I'll be sure to stock up when I'm there.

Yuck, never really understood why most of Europe has such high customs fees. That total price is about what i paid for a fully loaded rev4 second hand. At least you know you are getting a very high quality device with excellent service and customer relations.

I've sold two high end guitars to European buyers (Sweden and UK) and asked them why they are willing to incur high shipping fees to have the guitars shipped from the US, instead of just buying locally. Both informed me that the European import duties on new products still make it significantly cost-effective to buy used gear from US sellers, even with shipping costs factored in.

Well, in my case it's a "can't get it here" situation. OTOH, I can buy cheaply from Germany, Greece, and Italy, and especially from the latter I've bought quite a bit of high-end gear, so.... what goes around comes around.

But, like I said above, the killer isn't the duty, it's the VAT (sales tax), because it's calculated not just on the price of the goods themselves, but also on the shipping charges.

I've been thinking about using a service like shopusa.com or similar. You don't avoid the duties, but the shipping costs come down because you consolidate several items in one go.

I buy stuff from InTaste every so often and after they remove the VAT and all the Euro tack on's, I generally get stuff, even after paying for shipping, at a cheaper price than I can get it from a US supplier...

Yes I understand for some countries the import duties make it cheaper to buy from a country whose currency is of lesser value but depending on what country it is coming from it could be higher. The VAT thing always scared the bejesus out of me until the first time I ordered from an EU company that I did not have to pay that lol. I even think that was from Intaste as well.

Question from any Rev4 owners that use an uno. Does anyone else have an issue with the stock adapter for 510 tips getting screwed in flush? I am very very very picky about gaps and with this it drives me nuts. It fits flush with my JMK tips but I am afraid that I am going to have the same major condesation/leakage with the JMK/uno combo that I am had with the JMK/racing bridge.

Hey Kat, thanks for that . I found one at oughtvapes.com (redirected from OHMAN BMODS | Stainless Is for the Kitchen Sink), and they had two left, so I jumped on it. I'm guessing that's his site, and oughtvapes fulfill the payment/webstuff.

Anyway, got a confirmation, so I'm crossing my fingers they'll both arrive somewhat in synch. Just checked, I've got som 1.7 and 2 ohm 35mm cartos, so I'm not completely lost.

Patience is really not my strong suit.

I've read through the entire thread (at least this iteration of it), and @raqball's trials and tribulations with the USPS suddenly seem so Real at this moment. I just can't wait to get hold of this OOD (Object of Desire) :).

Must.not.trawl.youtube.yet.again.in.hopes.of.finding.an.unseen.BB.video--I know I've seen 'em all. Jeez this is killing me. J/K, but y'all know what I mean, neh?

And the UNOs were oversold. Just received a cancellation. Great! And I don't do cartos. Marvelous.:nah:

Anyone know where they can be got? I'm not looking forward to fishing my old cartos out of storage.

I ordered my uno from Ought Vapes as well, they shipped me the wrong package initially and corrected it very quickly. Lightning fast responses via email and a great company to deal with. I am still up in the air if I have better flavor from the uno or the racing but I like them both. I also hate using wire less than 26g and the used 26g 316l in the uno and everything worked perfectly other than the adapter not wanting to screw in.

That's reassuring. Thanks
