Mystery solved, at least for me.
Got my RTD package today, and just popped my brand new RED AW's in my Rev 3a, and they definitely feel too loose for comfort.
Granted, I've only used the <definitely> snug BLACK ones, but the Reds sure do feel "free".
Point of personal preference:
I'll stick with the black ones for now. The added bonus that people report longer/better performance from them sure helps!
Hope this info helps anyone else who is worried about which batteries to get...Looking at you @SoftSell...hahaha you're the "newbie" now!
By the way, all...I found a great tool that helps remove the "tight" fitting BLACK AW batteries.

Menda Tools - 35622 Nylon Point-Blade Probe, 6"
I have access to these at work, and one made its way home with me the other day, so I gave it a shot.
The flat blade end works brilliantly to gently pry the batteries out, without feeling like you're using much force. No damage being done to battery or BBox! Plus it's nylon, so if you slip, there's no risk of marring your BBox, unlike with a blade/flat head screwdriver...someone here mentioned using that, and this is a great substitute!
