Nicotine River 12-18mg 50/50 non-flavored juice
Sony VTC6 battery
After taking the above pic, I decided to break it down for a look inside the VapeShell. As you can see, it doesn't have to be a perfect build in order to have a great tootle vape. Seven wraps 30ga Kanthal on 2.0mm. On the VapeShell, this comes out to approx 1.89 ohms because of the long coil legs. Were this build in say, something like a Kayfun, it might come out to maybe 1.7 ohms or so.
Dimensionally, the VapeShell may not be the ideal choice for this build. "Lots" of leg power loss but quick ramp up and cool down. And the Muji cotton wick is rather long but wasn't persnickety installing. I had to hold the coil in the center of the VapeShell with tweezers while tightening the coil legs to keep the coil from deforming.
Initially I tried the largest MTL insert (.5mm) in the build but found the airflow slightly too restrictive and there was a bit of coil pop when fired and vaping. So, I settled on the smallest standard insert (2mm) and that provided the best airflow for me and all but completely eliminated coil pop.
I can't speak to flavor since I vape non-flavored. I'm all about the nic and tobacco cessation. This build provides a draw and production experience similar to, if not the same taste as, the stinkies.
So what off the shelf coil does this build compare to? ... 1.8 ohm Aspire nautilus. My favorite store bought coil ever. Since I can closely replicate the Nautilus performance in the VapeShell, Ima happy tootle camper
... and the Steam Engine math ...
