oh oh oh andddddddd I built my first coil tonite!!! Yes, I know I only wrapped some wire around a screwdriver, and stuck the ends under some screws.....but learnin all this stuff about it....getting the stuff to do it, and actually doing it is a huge deal for me! It came out to 2.5 (was shooting for about 2.0, but didn't have internet access when I was winding it up), so that was pretty close.

I know a kindergartner could have wrapped wire and put it under some screws, and my coil looks like it was a kindergartner did it but I'm still proud of it. Gonna save this one, try to do another one and actually wick the next one if I can get it looking a little better (lighting up better). I gotta get better at wrapping the legs around the screws without deforming the coil. Did the burn and pinch thing, and maybe doing that some more will help.....but for now I'm just happy I did one, and it works! lol I do feel like a bit of an idiot for being this excited about it.......but oh well lol

That's why using drillbits to wrap the coil on is a good idea, you can leave the drillbit in place as you fasten down the coil, and it prevents most of the deformation -- also, what gauge wire did you use? I used 30ga for a while, and it's flimsy as a whisper -- I found that 28ga was too thick for me; I like my coils at 1.8 ohms, which takes too many wraps of that thick wire, so it takes too long to heat up -- so I googled up some 29ga wire, and THAT is just the ticket -- slender enough that it only takes about 7-8 wraps to get to about 1.8 ohms, and doesn't take so long to heat up, but FAR less flimsy than 30ga. I just replaced a couple of coils that had been in my Kayfuns SINCE JULY -- that's how sturdy that 29ga wire is! :thumb:

i don't want to say i'll never do something, but still, the last three times i got a new cell phone was because the usb charging port thing failed... heck, even my computers standard sized usb slots are finicky and i have to push up on them to read a flash drive... not saying it's "off the table", just some of my observations..

I'm glad to hear you say that DD! I'd much rather take my batts out to charge, instead of using the same ones all the time. Rotating them helps them live longer! That's why my IPV sits backless on my desk, I'm not messing with those teensy screws to swap batts!

Although a battery level indicator would be nice, for me it's really not necessary. BB batts are small enough I can carry 4 with me in a little case. I'm quite happy that my BB shuts itself down when they are low, that's good enough for me! :)

And BTW, I have totally enjoyed playing and watching the Battlepillarz!

Was readin back thru the old thread to see when my first BB got here. It was a yr and a half ago and ya know what it still is just as good as when it first got here.
Albut a few nicks and dings. Like some others here bad fingers sometimes just don't hold so good. Boy what days those where yah had to wait and wait and then try to get on a preorder list for one. 3rd time was a charm for me if I remember right.

When first started reading on ECF looked at all the different threads and thought why would someone want a box thing that looked so weird to me. Even the big tubes was beyond my comprehension. Then I stumbled onto DDs' BB thread the beauty of it drew my eye and kept me going back to read about it then the craving for one got me. I love craftsmanship and this was a piece of art. Had to have one weather I used it or not. Then was about to quit this vaping stuff cause of problems with the little stuffs. Dang was I getting frustrated.

When I got my first BB couldn't help but just look at the thing WOW even nicer close up. Anyway hands took a bit of aching to get used to holding such a thing. Had lots of problems with keeping my cartos from drying out, because I can't inhale very well. Then the wonderfull Sabot-DDD came out, then the Billet Bridge.
Now I have gotten a few things in-between and the only thing else I haven't given away is the micro stick and spheroid But haven't picked it up in over 2 months now.

So for me it is just fine the way it is. The colors are good thou. Got my Lila Monster and she sits on my desk on a pillow of bubble wrap. I will so cry if I scratch or ding her. Oh don't get me wrong she gets used but is more a thing just for my eye pleasure.

Lot O hits this round, only 3 misses... granted two hits were already bomb'd'ed...still, a 10-3 hit miss ratio sounds better..

only one dead this round, but lots of new hits,,, this is going to get interesting...

Peter-C (G11-G13), to date, you have been the most destructive entity on the board, with all five of your shots being a direct hit.... good work, but you'r little chucks now... and that's sad....

ROUND: & (i was still holding the shift key) "FIRE"
