If one had to guess, how many PRE-REV4 Billet Boxes do you think were made?

If I was guessing, I'd say maybe 10,000?

I'm sure there have already been like 1,000 Rev4's made...

But I was just talking to my friend at work who uses a Rev3, and doesn't feel the desire to get a Rev4.

He says the Rev3 owners VASTLY outnumber the Rev4 owners...which has got to be very true, but I said "...not for long..."

Any guessers?

Pre rev4s? Hmm... I'd guess they averaged making 100 per week, for about three years. That's ~ 150 weeks * 100 boxes/week ~= 15,000. They were actually making them a little longer than three years, but had to ramp up the production. Anyhow, our answers are on the same order of magnitude, which I'd say is about right. Rev4s have been being made for about a year, I'm guessing 200 boxes per sale every two weeks, so same rate of production would give us about 5000 rev4s made so far. If everybody who owned a billet box only owned 1, than one in four owners would have a rev4. That's clearly not the case. I think more people collected the rev3s than the rev4s. The cost was lower, there were fewer accessories to buy to customize them, and not as many alternate quality vape options available. So more BB owners would have been using there disposable income to purchase multiple BBs in the past. Also, many rev3 owners are likely also rev4 owners, and the customer base has probably grown somewhat with time. Taking all of that into consideration, there may be nearly as many rev4 owners as pre-rev4 owners (although rev3 owners probably still have the edge). So your response of "..not for long..." is likely accurate. I would also guess that a higher percentage of rev4 owners actively use those devices daily, so you are probably already more likely to see a rev4 in the wild than previous versions.

Oh see I sat and thought more about it, and I had decided on 50-60 per batch, with an average of a batch every two weeks...

That halved my original estimate.

I'm sure the Rev4 process is much more streamlined, since they've had all the Rev3 experience behind them and know what they're up against in terms of demand.

Reading their history, I found the original announcement of the first BBox was posted by DD in December of 2012.

At that point, he said it had been in development for almost a year, which means there are proto-BBoxes out there that we may never see!

His original post states that small batches would be available starting January 2013, and the announcement of the Rev4 came in March of 2016.

I guess that's why I calculated the three years.

But I'm open to my numbers being wildly inaccurate!

After all, it's not like they announce how many of each batch are being sold...although I'm positive they keep track for themselves.

Sure would be interesting to hear the numbers though!

Hi,

I'm about to get my first BB (rat black rev4, yay) and I was wondering should I order a new Boro/a spare glass in case the glass breaks? In other words, is the glass how brittle? Obviously you should drop a little bit of e-liquid on the gasket but still.

Edit:

Another question: has anyone made themselves a leather case/sleeve for the rev4? If so, could you give a little step-by-step instruction of how to make it? I have the basic idea but I'll be more confident with instructions  And maybe you have the dimensions for the case?

Congratulations, you are going to love it! I always order spares just in case. I haven't read many people breaking their glass, but never a bad thing to have that second tank....heh heh maybe a second bridge and you could swap it out between flavors.

Unfortunately I can't help you with the leather question.

Congratulation, Lurius! I'm sure you'll be in love with your new B Box.

I'd say that the Boro glass is fragile. Brittle, no, but definitely fragile. BBV has instructions on exactly how to handle the glass, but still and all, it's always a great idea to have spares. :)

Enjoy the new baby!

Hi everybody,

I've been looking at this thread for a while now as I became interested in a BilletBox, and even more after I was waiting to get me a Radius 60 CC and a Procyon, but things happened and now I'll always be unable to get them.

Anyways, that's not the topic here, I will soon join the group and will have my first BB accompanied by an Insider.

I've been reading here a lot about them and hope everything goes smoothly when I get them and set them up.

It's good to see many familiar faces here, and I'll post and read the thread every once in a while.

Hope you all had a great holiday.

Hey Neo. Good to see you out & about. I hope all is well with & by you.

which means there are proto-BBoxes out there that we may never see!

...and some we may/have/will.

Anyone have any tips for a 4b that has a sticky button? I'm literally stuck with the 'down' button constantly active in software and as such I cannot set/use it. Halp?~
Sorry, I'm no help. Never had that happen. I would send it back to BBV. And have them look at it.

I have a doggy in the drawer which got displaced by an exocet so I'll throw that into the RB for the time being. Its a good device just not quite as good as the exo i think. I'm intrigued by the upcoming odis atty but will wait and see!!
