How much was the shipping?
15 euro. Pricey, but it arrived today so there's that.
I'm cautiously very optimistic about the VapeShell. When I built it, I purposely didn't spend much time on wicking to get it exact since I wanted to see if it was going to be as finicky as the Insider. From all indications it is not.
I have more work to do in playing with the different inserts and different coils. I immediately got a very good (to me) vape with lots of flavor though lacking throat hit which is important to me. That was with a 27g Kanthal, 5/4 wraps on 2.5. I don't think I got very close to what I'm going to finally settle with so it's nice to know that I have a huge range of options like insert size, coil gauge, coil diameter, etc. I think this thing will be very good.
Quick impressions at random: There is a very satisfying and impressive little click as the two halves go together. While the 510 adapter allows you to dry burn a coil, I'm still coming to grips with it. I use a Coilmaster 510 Tab and the inital reading was about double according to Steam Engine predicted. I tightened the adapter (didn't realize it wasn't completely cinched up) and got a much closer reading. Looking at the build I think it possibly could be a factor of the much longer legs than I usually build, more than a function of the adapter not making a good connection. And finally, after probably 30 or 40 pulls, I'm starting to get intermittent dry hits - not cotton destroying but enough to taste. Above all, remember I didn't pay much attention to the wicking so I am confident this can be resolved.
Over all, at this point it doesn't have the saturated flavor of an Exocet or Insider. I actually think the Insider is the better of the two, but the fact that I can only get it exactly right maybe 1 time out of 4 or 5 puts it behind the Exocet for my go-to choice. If I ignore the lack of throat hit (which I intend to fix with the build and coil height on my next try) I'd say that right out of the box the VS has at least 90% of the flavor of the other two. Yes, I'm impressed. Considering that you can't buy a new Exocet I am pretty sure the VapeShell will become the most popular solution to Billet Box atomizers.
