Finally got the crossbow built. Great machining, fit, finish. I do not mess with airflow inserts, only my Dampless plug. Single .6o contact coil, 17w etc. Fresh build so flavor needs to break in, so I will only comment on draw and heat.

Very VERY restricted direct lung, perfect mouth to lung. This is out of the box a mouth to lung atty. I will probably drill out the airflow a touch for my liking, maybe. Heat comes on smooth, wicking seems to be perfect...I would expect good wicking on a MTL. This might change once I drill out the air flow.
It is quiet, so far the most quiet atty for the BB. Similar to the Exo with kayfun air inserts.

Recommend? Yes. Build quality is superb.

Worth $175?
No atty it's worth this much, but if you want one, it is a solid choice.

I'll try and answer any questions over the next couple of days if there are any.

Oh bummer... that $170 down the tubes... I should have read the small print. :-(

Call me a fool, but I never paid much attention to the BB. I remember the 2nd ed (with the potentiometer and cartos) and discarded it inmediately. On the road I use the evic Aio
20160902180014_66283.jpg

Or the Mi one. Heads are readily available in Buenos Aires and it's nice to carry. The rebuildable is even decent.

So I decided to buy a BB to replace (?) the AIO. I've read a lot, I bought a Doggy and a Vapeshell, plus the nautilus head adapter when I don't want to build.

But, I don't like any of the BB that are for sale now, so I'm waiting. Any indications of new ones coming out? When? How can I find out?

My loving husband of 22 years now told me last night "black goes with everything and that Paua button will be an asset down the road"... I love him too much.

The Rev3’s were/are amazing little devices, and although they did/do provide a great vape (love mine), the Rev4’s definitely “modernized” the Billet Box.

You’ve got everything you’ll need to start out on a good journey!
Just make sure to get some good quality 18650’s.
I recommend these:

https://rtdelectronix.com/lg-18650hg2-3000mah-20a/

Of course, that’s just one recommendation. These batteries have served me VERY well, my current batch are about 18mo young and still going strong.
Plus, that vendor is top notch!

Ahhhh...waiting for a batch to drop.
It’s usually on a Saturday, typical pattern of every other Saturday.
They usually announce drops on their FB page, but if you don’t have FB (like myself and many others) we have a Billet Box herald here by the name of @Bamrz who is friendly enough to pass on the announcements here!

The Insider is available again? Is it worth the try?
Mixed reviews.
I owned one, didn’t like it, and sold it.
Some of the biggest issues I’ve seen reported are tricky wicking, dry hits, and too much airflow (although they did release an MTL solution).
Myself, I managed to get working builds in it, and aside from a few dry hits, I had an issue of too much condensation building up inside the tank cubby. I’d open my box’s door and the whole face would be wet.

But, as with all things vape: Your Mileage May Vary! (ymmv)

Keep us up to date on your journey into the BBox world, and WELCOME!!!
Anyone here is always willing to help!

Thanks! As for batteries, last year I bought a 100 batch of Samsung 30Q having grown tired of always forgetting batteries when I buy a new mod! So I have some batteries for quite a while. I've used the brown LGs, I like Samsungs better. They're head to head anyway and I got a nice price for them, fresh out of the factory!

Do you keep a second tank with a second build with you?
In the days of yore you used to push your carto out of the tank from the bottom with a fresh carto and you kept on vaping should your carto die. And I did it too many times, I imagine many of you did it with the billet box... But, what if the head or build dies, how do you change anything?

I'm getting a couple of extra tanks.

Yes! I have a Slap Yo Mama carto tool, that is exactly the same. But you can't do it with a rebuildable or a Nauti coil inside.

In answer to your original question, I have at least 7 tanks built and running at any given time.

I trust in my own builds enough that I don’t carry an extra tank with me daily...but if I’m vaping a factory coil, I carry at least two spare coils with me. However, replacing them is a small inconvenience.

I think the Uno by Ohman can be done just like one would do a carto...

The Aspire BVC (non-Nautilus) might work the same...

As for the Nautilus coils, the best way I’ve found to install them is this:

Sadly, as you stated, the old “push it through with another carto” method doesn’t work for these.

But, it’s a small sacrifice!

(For the record, I’m usually “strapped” with vape gear...I carry a spare battery, fill my tank before leaving the house, 15-30ml of juice, and a pod-mod like a JUUL or PHIX, with spare pod and charger.)

“Back in the day”, when using carto tanks, I WOULD carry an extra tank w/carto...but I usually did that so I could switch out flavors through the day to avoid “vape tongue”.

I have only one rev4 BB now and it serves me well every day. I keep one extra tank with me but have about 5 I rotate through weekly with different flavors. I have 2 vapeshells in my main flavor tanks and the other I use the Aspire BVC coils.
I have used about every coil and rebuildable for the B.B. and nothing compares to the vapshell and Aspire BVC coils for me.

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking two mods, 3 rebuildables, at least 5 tanks, so that makes 3 extra.

Tip! If you make a build that is going to sit for a while before getting vaped, to avoid ejuice getting stale I prime my coils with PG. It evaporates fast, so when I finally fill up the tank it won't taste rancid.

I had already seen it back in page 800 or so! I kept it for future reference, it cleared a lot of doubts, really!

My vape gear bag is relatively small. But I live within walking distance from everywhere, so I go purse less and it's whatever I can fit in my pockets. I'm generally back two or three hours later, so 1 battery should be enough. 4 ml of liquid with 0,5 ohm head should last much longer.

With the AIO is more or less the same, one advantage though is that a spare Cubis head is small enough. But evolving is necessary!!!

SVT Crossbow arrived today. There were two tiers for shipping and I chose the cheaper of the two, so grand total came to $152. In addition to the Crossbow, the kit includes an SVT MTL AFC condensation plug kit which retails for just under $20 when ordered separately.

I think the Vapeshell is machined to a higher tolerance. At least the two halves fit together better on the Vapeshell than the Crossbow. Whereas the Vapeshell snaps together, the Crossbow is a press fit only held tightly together when the boro is in place and the drip tip screw is tightened down. I tried removing the boro and when loosening the drip tip screw, the top half of the Crossbow came up with the screw and of course the Crossbow was flooded and juice started leaking out the bottom. When I cleaned it up and put it all back together, I made sure to use a q-tip and put a good coat of juice all around the o-ring of the drip tip screw to try and avoid that the next time I remove the boro. I'll also be sure to syringe out any juice first.

The Crossbow deck is ideal for my micro coil build. 30AWG Kanthal 8wraps on 2mm. That build has worked fine in the Crossbow from the get go, unlike in the Vapeshell where the build wasn't liked much at all by the Vapeshell and I had a hard time dialing in air, power and all ... and that was after figuring out how to get just the right amount of wick in place. So yeah, I prefer the Crossbow for my build.

I wouldn't call the Crossbow a restricted DL. It's an MTLer. MAYBE as mentioned by TheSneakerHoarder, some might consider it a VERY restricted DL. Regardless, the airflow is perfect for my vape style, a combination of DL and MTL ... similar to the inhale technique I used when smoking.

Of the 5 different build decks I've tried in the BilletBox, the Crossbow is the only one that is dang near perfect for me. At least it seems so after only about 4 hours of vaping on an initial build. It very well may be the ONE I was looking for. Testing continues ~~~
