The Billow v2!

I loved the Billow v2 a lot but since the coming of the velocity-deck for the Aromamizer, the Aromamizer is now my primary tank. In terms of build quality, I do find the Billow v2 better. What make me choose the Aromamizer over the Billow v2 is the flavor that the Aromamizer can give and also the simplicity of building coils on the velocity-deck. I still do use my Billow occasionally as I still do find it as a pretty good tank.

Additionally, they have just release the OCC coil for the tank (see last pic), the coils aren't cheap compared to Subtank but it sure does pack a lot of flavor and cloud. Good to have it as spares in case of emergencies . Currently only Kanthal but they are working to release nickel version as well.

Wondering if anyone has used a higher PG ratio juice in the Bv2? Say 70/30 or 80/20. Any leaking issues with a thinner juice?

I have two, and they can leak badly with higher pg juice! Try and see, but based on my experience it's a messy business!

I have this Billow V2, and all I can say it's really not my thing. Let me explain why.
1. I use 29 ga wire. when you screw down your screws, the screw will cut the wire, and your spring will fall out of the hole. If you do not screw the screw enough the wire is loose. It took me 15 coils over and over to get it to work.
2 the posts on the build deck are in the wrong place, and the middle posts should be higher.
3. The build deck is way too small, even with magnifiers.
4. the Billow v2 leaks, and leaks, and leaks. It leaks puddles on my desk.

There is no margin for error on this system. It is horrible. The impossible dream.

We have a problem with a new batch of Billow v2. They all leak apparently. I am not going to mention any names but a retailer in our area carries them, and they are having the same problem.
I have tried a second Billow V2 today and the screws when tightened cuts the 29 ga like butter. Consider yourself lucky.

Leaking is not the correct word...I have had many RTA's that leak a little...this billow will empty itself on my desk

Replaced my stock screws with grub screws. No more cut wires. The only time mine leaks is when I rush the wicking process. Of course I got both of mine when they were first released. Maybe something has changed with them.

I think I have also found the leaking problem solution. It was leaking through the bottom air hole which is telling me that liquid is entering the two oval air holes at the bottom of the posts, and leaking down.
I shortened my cotton considerably, so it barely makes it to the juice channel. Now the leaking has stopped.
Albeit this RTA is quite sensitive to human error compared to most others. Vapes great though, but more or less they all do. Agree? disagree?

I actually started fluffing out the tail cotton, thinning it down, and filling the little notches with it. I also take the little screwdriver and make sure the tails(saturated with juice already) are in an upside down 'L' shape so they don't touch the airflow holes on the deck. I used to just barely put any cotton in the wells, but I think it vapes/wicks better the new way I've been doing it.

Not quite sure I understand the notches part, and thinning it down.
I do understand the "fluffing out part".

Are you saying you have a very thin piece of cotton going down the engraved juice channel?

Have 3 and none of them leaks nor snap the coils. I am not even being overly careful with my wicking or tightening the screws. As long as the tank is airtight and the wicks cover the juice channels sufficiently, I don't think it would leak. Tried using 32 gauge wires on one and 28 gauge wires on the other two and none of them has snapped. Maybe just luck of the draw for me, I guess.

Just placed new cotton in, as a test. Same as yesterday, nice and short.
Took 20 puffs, and the air holes on bottom started pouring out juice. The tank half emptied itself on my desk again.
wish i could spank this thing.

maybe the cotton running through the spring has to be tight on this system. Normally on other systems if the cotton is too tight you will get dry hits.
Maybe a not-so-tight cotton in this system is causing the leaks. Yesterday I was convinced that the length of protruding cotton on either side of the coils may have had something to do with leaking, so I shortened my cotton. Today I still get leakage with short cotton, but have not paid much attention to the tightness of cotton or the diameter of cotton which passes through the coil.
Either way, this RTA is a moving target. Another possibility is the lower watts/voltages I use (12~14 watts). This could also be a root cause. They should have called this Fountain v2 instead of Billow.

My style of wicking the Billow is to ensure the notch or cup just above the juice channel is covered with the wick. Fluff the cotton tails, prime the cotton and stuff the tail into the notch. Don't over stuff it...just ensure the tail is long enough to sit fully in the notch without any holes. If done correctly, the Billow will not leak and you won't have dry hit issues either.

This is exactly how I wick mine and I've never had a leak. I use rayon rather than cotton and I don't have any more than a wisp of it in the very top of the channels. I've found that if I have wicking in the channels I tend to get dry hits occasionally, but never a leak.
