I did something similar by mistake. The battery was too big, and when I popped it into the charger, the positive contacts broke away from the charger housing. Now it's in a landfill somewhere.

There goes that idea. ;-)

After scouring the area for 24 hours for any sort of a temporary solution, I've finally resolved myself to having to wait another 3 days for a charger to come from BatteryJunction. Talk about 'full of suck'...

Why is it that places like Radio Shack don't carry anything compatible with 16340's? God am I frustrated. =]

I got my Buzz yesterday, but the 3.7v charger's fuse popped 2 minutes into charging my first set of Ultrafire 880mAh 16340's. So, I can't use it yet. Ugh. ;-)

Anyway, even though all research points towards this being a terrible idea, I'm toying with trying to charge these Ultrafire's in one of Tenergy 3.0v LiFePO4 chargers. Does anyone have any experience with trying this? I'd love for you to talk me into - or out of - giving it a shot!

You can use the 3.0v LifeP04 batteries they just won't last as long. The low voltage protection circuit kicks in at 6 volts but they will work for awhile.

Will the voltage adjustment respond the same? Like, will the factory-set 4.5 volt setting still be 4.5 volts with the 3.0v LiFePO4's?

Thanks again!

Yes. Like I said they won't last too long because once the voltage drops below 6 volts the protection circuit kicks in and shuts down the device.

Thanks! Trying it now, and it does indeed work just fine. This at least gives me a taste to experiment with, which is all I've been itching for. ;-)

It's the cheap, 'no-name brand' charger on the Notcig site. I'd link you to it, but the website is stuck trying to load his 'live chat' widget ATM. ;-)

I have the same one. Where's the fuse? You sure it wasn't the protection circuit on your batteries that kicked in?

I'm just reflecting what Buzz told me after I fully reported the sequence. He also said that another one of the same chargers blew a fuse, so he was pretty confident that this is what went down.

Also, after the 'pop' I tried the other brand new set of 16340s. The charger didn't even respond by turning red when they were inserted. So, the charger is toast for one reason or another. =]

Not good. Looks like Buzz needs to find another supplier for chargers.

Syn did you get a charger?? I have 3 extra ones, not that I could get it to you any faster, but if you need one let me know.

What happens if you accidentally unscrew the top cap off? Will it mess up anything? I had connected a 510 adapter on it and when I remove the atty to replace it, the whole cap started to unscrew itself, caught it in time and re tightened it but was wondering if this will do harm to the unit?

The turning part will not hurt it, Buzz made sure if it got twisted it wouldn't hurt it. Just don't take it all the way off, there is a wire that could be pulled loose if you pull the cap too far away from the body.

When I ordered my Buzz he didn't have chargers or batteries in stock yet. So I ordered a Ultrafire charger from Lighthound. So far it's been working great.

Ultrafire 3.6 volt or 3 volt RCR123 Lithium Battery Charger

That's the same one I purchased and have been using it since Feb with no problems at all. I charge all my 16340 batteries on it. Just have to make sure it is set to the 3.6volt setting.

One question regarding the 'not totally sealed' thing:

I've been using my Buzz for about 2 hours now with 510 cartomizers (with the 3.0 volt batteries I have on-hand to tide me over), and I just pulled off the 510 adapter to look at the post / screw. The entire 'well' there was completely full of juice, which scares me a bit.

Upon inspection, it almost looks like there's already a black washer of some sort there - is this the 'optional' o-ring that Buzz was talking about? If not, how do I safely install one? I'm a bit scared to go unscrewing the center post screw to get the o-ring in there.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Ya I have had 2 chargers BLOW the Fuse ?? I am talking to my supplier right now about the failures SORRY People , you know how Chinese products are ????? you never know until you get them.

I will make sure that customers who had problems get them fixed/replaced/compensated.

Synthnadz you must be a HEAVY juicer ! I have been using a cartoz with a drip tip and dont have that much leakage but I can see how it is easy to do so .

Like I said earlier in the thread put a small amount of silicon in that area.
