Be sure to let him know that he is entering a community that is being torn asunder by all manner of turmoil and internal strife.

It's a nightmare in here. Don't let enter unknowingly!
The only turmoil comes from those that subscribe to the Veblen good theory and not from those that subscribe to the substitution effect.

IMO there would not be a market at all for clones if the originals were reasonably priced and highly available.....

So, for example I would love a Squape reloaded but not at the price of a mini Provari kit...even if I nudged myself to the edge of sanity and wanted to pull the trigger on an original...I can't get one from a US vendor right now.

So I say to the architects of these wonderful devices....if you don't want to be cloned, drop your prices and get producing. In case you haven't noticed vaping products are kind of a big deal right now...LOL

And FTR...I like to buy originals of things but I also like to run several flavors a day and don't feel like re-wicking on every liquid change....or taking a second mortgage to buy more than one original...or camping your facility like I am trying to get coveted tickets to my favorite band's show.

I just bought three EHPros and gave one to my dog walker, one to my son and kept one myself. I like to be charitable, I should be able to do that with originals, but I can't....

What would be wrong with the original manufacturers subbing out the work to the clone manufacturers for second and subsequent runs. Then they could keep the high priced OEM sales and leverage the second market sales?

I guess the US is the only country with patent laws? Patent laws can't be enforced internationally?

I just think that original manufacturers could get creative and make relationships that keep them in the game....just not up enough on international law to figure out how. Something on the order of..."Hey we are going to produce 1000 of these things and we would like to contract you to manufacture the rest, just pay us x dollars a device for the rights to manufacture..."

I'm almost convinced that some original manufacturers are doing just that.

I love it when someone says "I'm all for genuine authentic mechs, but RBAs are totally different"

Oh, how we separate the ...

... belly button lint from toe jam!

You don't want to know what I pay for high quality American made shoes...

Yepper, you're absolutely right!

my god, won't anyone think of the children???2?

Apparently, all too many folk and/or their parents haven't cause dey didn't teach their younglins to think for themselves and left it all up to da 'system'...

Gotta luv da myopic navel gazing and counter cost self-justification mud wrestling... <click>

You know the whole authentic vs clone argument is completely asinine.
I mean think about it, most of the stuff comes out of China anyway, the same people that hasn't had a invention of their own since gunpowder.

You do know there us a difference between a company having their items manufactured or assembled in PRC and their design, logo and name used on replicas without their permission or payment, correct?

Only the cartos I use are made in China...

Nope although they do make some of the nicer clones.

Not just that, though. They started making clones, then they started making thoughtful improvements to clones (like their Kayfun Lite Plus V2 with dual air holes). Now, they've begun designing and producing their own original products, some of which are quite good. For example, the Big Buddha and the Pontus. And, their originals are quite affordable. Designing their own improvements and originals that can be manufactured at the same price point gives them a competitive edge over some of the other clone makers, as well as helping them to establish a brand. I said way back on page 2 or so that I thought this was the future of the market.
