The mark up for a mod that is deemed 'authentic' is overpriced and inflated just like their heads.. I would never pay over $100 or even $75 for a mod especially seeing that I can buy a tube of stainless for less then $40. How can one justify to paying or charging over $250 for a 6" piece of metal? My wife would divorce me..I give props to China to creating clones. If they can make a product at a slightly lower quality that performs the same @ 90% less Im going to buy the clone. If the people who are .... hurt about the clones would lower the cost by 80-85% then china would go away..

I support American Made products but dont screw us Americans by inflating the prices.

You don't want to know what I pay for high quality American made shoes...

Funny part is practically none of those so called authentic mods that have been cloned are made in America anyway.

Doesn't really matter for the example. Point is some would think it is silly to buy high quality shoes when somewhat similar shoes made in PRC can be bought for far less. Take tools, for instance. I like Jonnesway screwdrivers, but why pay $20 for a screwdriver when Lowes sells PRC screwdrivers for $2? A screwdriver is a screwdriver to some, isn't it? Just like a shoe is a shoe for some. Some things are worth spending money on. Not ever being a smoker again is worth more to me than whatever an authentic mod could possibly cost...

Truth is clones exist because there is a market, not everyone can afford to buy authenic
Nonsense. There are plenty of inexpensive authentic mods and attys. Saying that not everyone can afford to buy authenic is nothing more than making an excuse and your own justification to buy a clone instead of an authentic. Personally, I don't care what you vape with. If you want to buy a clone, buy it. Own it. But don't use that justification and perpetuate the myth that not everyone can afford to buy authentic because it's simply not true.

The market wouldn't be so crazy for cheap clones if cheap originals were as good as the clones.
Again nonsense. There are plenty of high quality inexpensive originals.

If it wasn't for clone prices and availability how many of us would've never been able to move beyond our innokin and kanger tech gear?
Anyone who wanted to.

I dont have a problem with clones that are advertised and priced as such

But I think that the practice of selling counterfeit products as originals is despicable

Anyone who owns fishing tackle will know that the Chinese are brilliant at copying the aesthetics

but not very fussy in their choice of materials and terrible at engineering

" Buy cheap, buy twice " caveat emptor

I subscribe to the Harbor Freight principle of life. Buy it cheap at Harbor Freight, and it you use it a lot and wear it out, then buy the higher quality version.

At work most of the bolts on my extruder head are 3/8 hex head. The Fastenall machine is stocked with 3/8 hex head wrenches. Tired of rounding bolt heads with the cheap PRC tools, I got one of the engineers to buy me a set of 3/8 made in USA wrenches. Haven't busted a knuckle or stripped a bolt since...

I used to go through 2-3 pairs of PRC sneakers/ year until I discovered New Balance 993 Made in USA sneakers. I have a number of pairs now, but 6 years later my original pair is still comfortable and in good shape...
Same with dress or casual shoes. My collection of Allen Edmonds shoes and boots will last a lifetime, whereas I would be lucky to get a year out of a pair of Clark's, and be uncomfortable to boot...
A lot of the time quality pays for itself- not only monetarily but convenience wise...

Wait. What?

You mean we really do get what we pay for?

Who knew?

Prove it !!
With exception to the Eleaf Lemo please name ANY low cost authentic mod/atty that is worth a crap.

There is no need to be argumentative about it, or even ridicule those who WILL buy and use high quality 1:1 clones
I have many authentic mods and attys, as well as 1:1 clones of the same mods and attys that unless I told you which were which you wouldn't know the difference, because they look, feel, build, and vape identical.
Take my Authentic Magma for instance I paid just over $100usd for it, but later bought a 1:1 identical clone $31 shipped, fit, finish, vape identical 1/3 the cost for exactly the same quality and vape.

Back to the Lemo, I now have 3 of them all are authentic, but then again examine them closely, they are very much kayfunish, but has a far superior vape than any authentic kayfun I own, and for about $40 IMO there is no better atty for flavor and vapor production made to date that includes tanks or drippers.

Authentic Plume Veil spent over $100 for it, no matter what you do to it, has a bad metal taste, boiled it soaked it, scrubbed it, still has a metal taste.
Bought a clone by Infinite $30, vapes like a champ, no metal taste what so ever.

Yes there is a market for clones, be it for folks with limited funds that want quality vape for little money, or those who refuse to pay above premium prices when you can get just as good and/or better for a third of the cost.

In the end a year from now authentic or clone none will be worth no more than scrap metal, because buy then something better, or a better variation will be in favor and the old out of favor authentic or clone will set unused in a box or drawer, may as well be a low cost mod exiled to the island of misfit mods than a high priced mod.

Personally I'd rather see someone become an ex-smoker by buying low cost high quality clones, than to see them put off by the cost of over priced authentic equipment, with relatively the same quality.
Perhaps instead of trying to fight a never ending argument of authentic vs clone, we should focus our energy on educating the masses of the better quality clones as well as the authentic, guide them away from the substandard crap and point them towards a good, better, best vaping experience as opposed to browbeating someone over buying a clone.
Percy Lebaron Spencer of Raytheon Company invented the first microwave oven in 1945, but I'm willing to bet none of you have a Rayhheon Radarange in your kitchen, of course not, you have a clone, of a clone, of a clone, most likely made in China, Taiwan, or Mexico, You Hypocrite.

In 1963 Herbert A. Gilbert invented the first smokeless non-tobacco cigarette (e-cigarette) look it up, but again I'll bet nobody here owns one, but you do own a clone of a clone, of a modified clone {MODERATED}.
US3200819-0.jpg
It wasn't until the early 2000's the Chinese started mass producing low cost modified variations of Gilberts design that the modern e-cigarette became popular, again I say you are a hypocrite your beloved authentic is nothing but a modified clone.

I have a student that recently quit smoking, after he saw me vaping, he went and bought a eGo twist clone starter kit with clone ce6 for $35 he is now an ex-smoker.
He already has plans to upgrade in the near future, but a cheep clone kit got him off the cigarettes and vaping.

You are everything that's right with the world.

Be sure to let him know that he is entering a community that is being torn asunder by all manner of turmoil and internal strife.

It's a nightmare in here. Don't let enter unknowingly!
