I wouldn't go that far. iPads are nice, but there are some very nice Android tablets as well, some that are actually more powerful than Apple's.
Personally I have a problem with the proprietary nature of anything Apple.

BB,
You are singing my song there...I actually think I stated it somewhere earlier in this thread...I paid ALLOT more for the Ipad and seriously had issues with their propitery thing...
I actually had to be talked into buying one. I bought the Iconia (android based) a couple days later , planning to take the Ipad2 back, but decided to keep it...They really are nice and the screen is just SOOOO nice.
Dont get me wrong the Iconia works well also, but the thing I dont like about Android(Google) is they are starting the same propietory BS. You cant use Skype with Video since they have come out with a Google product tha offers Video chat. I here you though...I hate not having multiple options available.

Not going to get into an argument here or hijack this thread. Of course you are entitled to your opinion. Let me just say this, an OS or IOS needs enough power to run correctly. This is why the iPad is lighter and thinner and works flawlessy unlike android systems.

It's like watts versus volts.

Android is far more open than IOS... wait... IOS is not open at all, nor flawless.
Skype with video is available for Android, just not all Android products are capable of running it. The problem that is possibly coming with Skype is that MS bought it, and may not develop for other OS's. Not much Google can do about that but provide it's own service.

And therein lies the problem with Android...too many platforms, too many OS differences, too much crapware, and a clumsy interface. Say what you want about iOS, but it is consistent and well designed.

Personally I would love an open *nix style smartphone, for me tho Android is not it. Jmo

It's funny how animated people get in the Apple vs Android debate (myself included). My employer recently let us upgrade our Blackberry's with either iPhones or Androids and the company is dividing across those lines. Funny.

Yes, but you can root an Android and install the CyanogenMod... with minimal tech knowledge... and REALLY take advantage of the phone's hardware. That OS absolutely SCREAMS. And, because it's open source, you have not 500 developers but 500 THOUSAND developers working on the code. Lots of competition breeds interfaces that perform extremely well... along with nightly releases and bug fixes... fageddaboudit...

On the otherside of the coin, in terms of standard, "out-of-the-box" performance, Apple is king...

OH
Wow, did I open the can of worms, Lmao!

I do agree that apples iPad is great out of the box, but I like Android. I have my touch and my Droid phone and I always reach for my Droid. I'd love to have all I want in one device, but the proprietary nature of all the systems make that near impossible.

Never seen that, would be interested. I had rooted my previous iPhone and had a unix interface with Cydia...very nice.

Anyway, the Darwin is here! Just warming it up with a standard 510 and some signature tobacco...very nice.
