Sewknitty,
I have already started planning that very thing. Was thinking about making a quilted pouch (kinda like a belt loop knife case style)... Just because they are built like tanks doesn't mean they can't be pretty.

You're absolutely right. It's sorta like a mom sticking a bow on the bald head of her baby girl. After all, pretty is as pretty wears, right?

I'm digging the idea of a quilted cover...crazy quilt style!

... I think though that I will wait a little just to see if they come up with something else different. I thought Angus was hinting last nite about a Darwin 2 and 3. He may have been joking but who knows. HEY they might even decide on colors.

You caught that too, huh? Yeah, wasn't the first time but I thought it was just my optimism and imagination. Ohhh, gonna be tough...what will you use for a backup then, Andel? I've got my eye on two or three possibilities, one of them being a VV Tekk since it could charge a dead Darwin while I'm vaping with it. And, if they do colors the decision would undo me. I'd end up in a puddle of ejuice and tears trying to make up my mind.

Edit to add: Well...if one of the colors was green it'd be easy.

When using a 306 LR atty the first fifty percent of the dial rotation ie 4.2 Watts up to the detent position ~ 8.5 Watts actually provides ZERO change in Power.

Testing two LR atty's that measure 1.4 Ohms and a second Darwin, it appears that the true power is 8.75 Watts while the display indicates 4.2...8.6 Watts over 50% of the adjustment range.

Certainly not an operational expectation....

I don't even want to tell you how many mods I have. I will go on to tell you(since I am on Drew's site) I have at least 2 of Drew's Phidias Woodys, one drip and one without, of course 2 of his xshaler and 2 of his xhalers. So those of his will tied me over until I can decide on my decision. Told you I like 2's but since this is new, I liked to see where they go with the evoluation of it. I am sure there is some ideas already that are on the drawing board.

I could be mistaken, but I thought I had read somewhere that the low end voltage would be 3.6 to 3.7 volts regardless of atty used. Being as how the Low resistance atties have been known to be very hard on batteries, I personally see no need to even have any. Plus the LR atties do tend to burn up a lot faster than standard resistance. As a rule I stick to cartos. I usually only buy Boge in the 3.2 ohm range. This gives me the most versatility with my beloved Darwin. I can dial the watts way low for the few fickle juices that burn at anything over 3.7 volts and I can dial it way up into the 6+ volt range for juices that can take it when I really need a jolt.

Wow...I am jealous! Sadly, I have only a homemade box and a GGTB. My DH is anti-smoking and even though he is happy I quit and went to vaping, I think he really thought it would be temporary. So, I try very hard not to spend too much-keeps the bickering down. But I will not give in on the Darwin

Wow! I feel so much better, Andel. I bet they're working on something else too. (fingers crossed for a top feeder with rocket launcher option!)

Parmacrafter,

Thanks for sharing your selection of atty's.

My favorite is 306 but I do like all of the units you mentioned.

To summarize, 4.2 Watts is 4.2 Watts not 8.7 Watts. Users should expect the display to supply accurate information....

I have no issue at all if the display was accurate and the lower limit started at 8 Watts when using LR's... Looks like the battery's and and regulator circuit can handle 3.5 volts @ 2.5 amps with ease 20+ hours.

Hey Krisb,

I started with the GGTS and AVS. Because of them, I pretty much dropped everything else. Then, enter the Darwin. I've got a GGT, and 2 GGTS's and the AVS. The GG's are now backups to the Darwin, but I still occasionally use the AVS. As much as I love my AVS, I've gotta say that the flavor from the MAP is better, so that's my primary vape toy, I reconnect the AVS from time to time, but I find myself going back to the MAP tank.

I've also got the stormy tank (or what ever it's called) and some clearomizers that also use the CE2 atty, but even still, the MAP tank is different. I don't know why, but the flavor seems better. There is a way to connect the CE2 to the AVS, Imeo did a video on it but I haven't tried it yet. I have to give it a try some day.

When I fill the MAP tank, it's great until it hits about half full, then I have to tilt it almost upside down for a second or two to force the coil to get wet, otherwise, it's a little dry. This is only because I'm a heavy vapor and mostly seem to vape every other breath. If you let is sit longer, it's fine. The CE2's don't wick as well as the AVS feeds liquid if you vape that heavily, and the flavor is definately different, again, not sure why. I have one MAP tank and just ordered a second because of the flavor difference. Imeo has the AVS V3 coming out soon that has a control ring to control air-flow, just like the current version, but also a way to control the volume of juice flow. I think I'm going to have to get this one too. Call it loyality, but I'm looking for something to make me want to go back to the AVS. The CE2 ohm's that I use are 3.0 - 3.2. Using the GG gear, I was always a HV (7.2 to 7.4V) vapor, so using the higher resistance CE2's seemed to make sense. Plus, with higher resistance, I think you have more options, especially with the Darwin.

Anyway, hope all this helps.

-George

Georgea, You said you have both a MAP and an AVS...is the AVS really worth the cost, I mean does it really work that much better than the MAP? I just got a MAP and am loving it, but prior to them coming out I had my eye on an AVS.

Question 2- What ohm ce2 are you using in the MAP at what setting on the Darwin? I'm hoping to get a Darwin from the next batch that comes out and trying to do my HW before hand so I have everything I need...OK, yes, I'm just obsessing over the Darwin...but that's beside the point, LOL.

Metallic for sure, Krisb.

And, I'm so sorry. My banner is a liar. I have saved nothing...in fact, I'm probably deeply in the negative, and quite happily so. But, if I had an honest banner, yes, I'd have saved more merely because cigarettes were at $10/pack for Basics when I quit. The cheapest I could find them for was $9.84. How 'bout by you, K?

Edit: Oh, and I was up to nearly 2 packs a day too. So, actually, maybe I'm not too far in the negative now that I start to calculate.

Edit edit: Who am I kidding? I'm running a deficit for sure! :)

Krisb, forgot to mention, I set the Darwin smack-dab in the middle at 8.4, and up to 9.0 watts. This depends on the juice you are vapin, but so far from what I found, lighter colored juices are set at a lower wattage setting, darker, at a higher setting.

Yeah, it's hard for someone who isn't a smoker or who quit another way to understand. Mine is happy with the ecigs but eternally puzzled by how complicated and equipment intensive a thing I make vaping. When he's ready to quit I'm getting him a Volcano or - and this will be the first in the house - an Ego tank kit with about a gazillion tanks I'll keep locked and loaded for him.

Look at this way. Some of the juices are quite aromatic and it keeps you from thinking of other, more disturbing hobbies...like chainsaw collecting or...drums.

Thats funny I just got a vv tekk off the classifieds on monday for the same reason and also because I hoped it'll get here faster to occupy me well I wait for my darwin to arrive.
