OK people...IPA is for low rank soldiers in the British Army which any one who owns a Darwin is way above. While in the service I was fortunate enough to catch Oktoberfest in Munich which spoiled me on beer forever. Munich style Marzen (i.e. Oktoberfest beers) and Dunkles are where it is at. Since then I have made my own beers at home, but recently we have a local brewpub that makes only traditional German lagers....

Grimm Brothers Brewery Beers

I am enjoying a growler of their Fearless Youth Dunkles style this fine evening, I'm thinking a fine place for a future Vapefest since they let me vape away in the tasting room. Who's in?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good Marzen but there are also good IPA's I am not sure what the low rank soldiers were drinking but I am sure it wasn't Sam Adams Latitude 48 or Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA

debook I spend time in Hanau Germany, Home of Brothers Grimm. Now if I am out Colorado way for some powder turns I will ping you. I enjoy German beers too and finally found Radeberger in the States. I put the German offering at a close 2nd to the Belgian style beers though. I spend a lot of time in southern Netherlands. Anyawy it is tough to drink mass produced American beer after you get a taste for the good stuff. Happy vapes aand cold ones to ya.

Hmmm...I'll concede, I love Hop Head IPA and even fresh hop my homemade beers sometimes in the summer which is like an IPA. The history of IPA style beers is interesting, the British would hop the crap out of it so it wouldn't spoil on its way to troops in India in the late 18th century. Meanwhile, beers in the UK were more malty depending on the price...i.e. 5, 10, or 50 schilling (SP?) styles.

That is interesting :) I am not sure why but I just like that bitter hoppy taste in my beer.

Ski...anytime my friend. Here in Fort Collins we have several brewers that do Belgian style including New Belgium Brewing Co and have so much insane skiing around, planning our Jackson Hole trip for the holidays now.

JH is the Mecca, the Holy Land and as far as I am concerned some of the most challenging skiing on the planet. I LOVE JH. The Crags, Corbets, the Hobacks, Dicks Ditch. The place is awesome. Save a few turns for me and don't hog all the Pow.

Yup, about a 6 hour drive from here but the most incredible place on the planet. I try to get there in the summer to flyfish and the winter to ski but it works out about 50% of the time.

What's going on at the pre-vets thread? I should check in there but rarely do...bad member I know.
