Parma, maybe my caution did me in. Using the 510-510 sorta eliminated my working the connector into good usability if that makes sense. I'm using the next one without the adapter except with the MAPs and 801s. I'm going to break it in the way I've done every other mod by screwing attys and directly to the connector throughout the day, being careful to line them up so as not to cross-thread.

Thursday is once again Darwin Day in the Sewknitty household.

Whatever the heck I was fighting off never fully bloomed but is keeping me fatigued. Here it is barely elevensies and I'm ready for bed. Be gone germ!

My favorite is 306 but I do like all of the units you mentioned.

To summarize, 4.2 Watts is 4.2 Watts not 8.7 Watts. Users should expect the display to supply accurate information....

I have no issue at all if the display was accurate and the lower limit started at 8 Watts when using LR's... Looks like the battery's and and regulator circuit can handle 3.5 volts @ 2.5 amps with ease 20+ hours.

Just a little comment on the above post. I too have seen when using LR atty/cartos that below a certain wattage, the amps and volts no longer change. I can see why as it sounds like you can too. To explain to some others out there, the battery inside the device is being boosted to reach all of the upper range but there is nothing to drop the voltage below the minimum that the battery can put out. This means that specifically with LR parts, the resistance is low enough that the battery cannot put out that small amount of watts at a time as it hits a bare minimum amperage as well.

The wattage setting is just that, a Setting, not a readout, so while all the other measurements, Volts, Amps and Ohms should always be accurate (they are actively read when you vape) the Wattage setting shows what the goal is, not what is actually being used. It would take another readout that tested for wattage to give you that information.

As it stands, the Darwin will give you the bare minimum the battery can put out if you crank it all the way down but unless there is enough resistance on the Carto/atty, it can't just add more resistance to drop the amperage being delivered and if it did, that would just be a waste of battery life. As the battery drops below half way i have seen the voltage drop as well to 3.3v or so, so it keeps getting closer to the bottom. Truly though, unless using at least a SR if not a HR atty/carto, you will probably never hit that 4.2 watts.

I am finding that my stockpiling of LR equipment to make my temporary Ego vape like a beast, was a little counterproductive now that I have my Darwin. It means that almost everything that I vape on has been set at or below 6 watts with the exception of my few SR pieces from long ago. It also probably means that I am going to enjoy some of the longest battery life available on this thing as I (sadly) rarely need more than 3.5v to produce plumes of smoke. I will definitely be buying less LR stuff in the future just to give myself more range to vape in.

Ad, D.R.E.P. it is! I absolutely love it! Only thing wrong with these DREPs are the sissy, pastel shades...I'd make some but I can't be bothered with fiddly pieces of fabric . Actually...I think I have a belt loop attachment and a bias binder gizmo for my sergers. Finding them is on The List!

Awesome, DREP was my fav too.

And the Darwin is awesome. I've only been at this a couple of months, but have been giving it my all (and my credit card) and have gone from greensmoke to 510 to ego to 5v passthrough to GGTB. Each step brought a better experience; the darwin eclipses them all. The consistancy and control makes it sooooo much better than anyting else (inc analogs). Almost going to buy another, but may wait for someone to work the tech into a juice feeder box mod first.

It has made me go back and start tring juices again (I have a wine bucket full, so long journey) as well as the diff JDDs; was not a carto fan before, but got some boges that with the darwin really rock. plus you can crank up the wattage and shoot roman candle vapor balls out of them).

Simplest measure: up to today I have been smoking half a dozen analogs a day (from over a pack) and promised myself when I got a good enough setup I would stop altogether. That day was today!!!!!!!!!!

SK: I can really relate to the "Bug B Gone" statement. Been fighting one myself. Between the coughing, sneezing and runny nose it's really putting a damper on my vaping. Grrrrr! So goes the life of a parent with young children. They go to school to learn but seem to only come home with colds. Hope you feel better soon.

Adster: Good for you!!!!!! Vaping was definitely what got me off the nasties. I quit the day after my vaping supplies arrived over 18 months ago. I thought surely I would have given up the Ecigs too, but they simply taste too damn good to give them up. I think I simply traded one addiction for another. Oh well, at least this addiction won't kill me nearly as fast as the old one.

Thanks for that little tidbit of info. I too am stockpiling LR equipment to use on my ego. I don't have a Darwin yet, but now I know.

Thankfully I also have a few SR devices that I use with my 5v box mod. So when I am finally able to purchase a Darwin I'll know to use those and not bother with my LR stuff.

That was damn helpful, AX. Thanks for taking the time. I have attys in, basically, two sets - moderate (2 to 2.5 ohm) and HV (3.5+) because my standard PVs are used with either 3.7 or 6v worth of batteries. My very best vape with the Darwin occurs with a 2.5 ohm 801 mini set at...oh, darn, I can't be precise right now because my Darwin is wrapped in bubble stuff but it's the equivalent of 4.8-4.9v.

I shouldn't even tell you this because I haven't stocked up fully on them yet. Yes, the Darwin provides consistency like no other PV I've tried but there are, of course, subtle difference among attys. I have one HV, for instance, that is less airy and a little stodgy. The mini is just... Angels sing, man.

I too think I have one of those mini 801's, man what a vape. I also have one of the 801 LR/HV combination and boy does that thing not only produce a decent throat hit the vapor is insane. I get my best vape so far on the Darwin with that one and I can turn it into a low or high depending on the jc I am using.( I have more than one for different jcs)

I believe the issue was with adapters shorting out. Some adapters look different on the bottom. Evolv was amazing with there customer service and my unit was fixed ASAP and also replaced with one of the 1st version casings that didn't have the etching of the logo and has the signature on the front. I hope they go back to the original, cause it looks really nice! if anybody has an issue contact them on their website. Nhaler never contacted me back when I had my issue... They will take care of you. And if any of evolv's secret agents are reading this. If you guys want some Darwin tee shirts printed call me I'm right down the road

Hi Guys!

Today I received my Darwin and I have a problem with it (I'm not sure if this is a problem though).
My battery level looks like this:

I've been vaping on it for a couple of hours, so I think the battery isn't fully charged.
Also the battery level on the display doesn't seem to me 100%.
I put it on the charger which was included in the package but nothing happens!
I tried to charge it with two more USB chargers. Again: nothing happens.

How can I know that the charging is in progress?
Does the battery level on the display start to flash or something??
Is it possible that my device is faulty and cannot be charged with any charger?
I didn't receive ANY user manual for this product (by the way I don't know WHY!)
So I don't know what should the display look like if the charging is in progress.
Please let me know how should the display look like while charging!

Charging:
This has been mentioned in several places but I am gonna mention it again just in case anyone missed it. The Darwin does NOT have an indicator to tell you when it is charging. The only way to know is when you first plug the charger into the Darwin the little green light on the charger dims slightly. Rest assured, if it is plugged into a functioning outlet and the light is on on the charger, it is charging. It is also worth mentioning that the Darwin can be charged with the atty arm in any position. At the halfway point on the battery meter you shouldn't need more than 2 hours or so for a full charge.

From what everyone here has said, I haven't gotten a Darwin yet, there is no visible way to know its charging, but rest assured it is. Just use the included charger and all should be fine. This same question has been asked many times, and that has been the advice given. Good luck!
