Can anyone explain the extreme "Darwin Trashing" and misinformation that some on ECF and other forums are so vehement about. Here are some of the remarks I have read about the Darwin:
* it's made of plastic
* the arm is made of plastic
* the arm breaks off after a few days use
* juice on the body will kill it
* it's ugly
* it costs $300
* you will be lucky if the batteries last 6 months.
* the supplier does not stand behind the product
* you can't drip with it
* the warranty is a scam
* it's too big to fit in your hand
Some of these remarks seem to be from those who like the ProVari. I personally have only praised the ProVari as being one of the two top PV's on the market. But I just don't get this vehement trashing of the Darwin.
Clearly we have seen "fanboys" in many threads over many devices. There are some posters who "trash" without ever having seen, touched or vaped on the device. There are some who go to threads posting negatively for unknown reasons. Some just do not have anything better to do with their time.
After several rounds of production Darwins, one has but to read this thread to see the truth - happy Darwin owners. Each has their own reasons. No device is "perfect" and there will always be naysayers who will find any "flaw" and embellish. Everything vaping is subjective "this is the best atty", "this is the best juice", "LR is better than HV", "HV is better than LR" etc. ad nauseum. People who are fanboys of one device often defend them by criticizing another. The bottom line, it does not matter. Those who try Darwin's and like them, simply enjoy. Any device is a purchase risk and we all know if we buy one and don't like it - we can sell it. There are other devices those people may vehemently rave about and/or defend that others would not touch. It does not matter. I don't care what devices other people like, what juices they like, which attys or cartos....
These statements are blatantly incorrect and all of those of us with Darwins know the facts:
Myth: it's made of plastic --
Fact: double hard anodized aluminum
Myth: the arm is made of plastic --
Fact: Brass
Myth: the arm breaks off after a few days use --
Fact: none have broken off (at least none posted) and given the construction design as shown in the photo just posted - not even possible (brass dumbbell shape surrounded by double hard anodized aluminum body)
Myth: juice on the body will kill it --
Fact: juice on the body will not harm it at all. If excessive amounts juice get INTO the body can cause some problems - as would be true with any device. Clearly, Evolv is constantly monitoring ALL feedback and constantly making changes as any competent electronics manufacturer does (can anyone say Apple?).
Opinion: it's ugly --
Fact: looks are in the eye of the beholder. Some love the looks of Darwin and others might prefer it look like all other tubes. Others still may not love the looks but do love the performance.
Myth: it costs $300 --
Fact: $229 clearly posted everywhere. Eclipse will be more and Provari "CAN" be more as a total package (won't get into this again, I said originally "as a total package" and others decided to argue. No point in re-hashing so I won't respond if anyone argues this point. It is what it is and those who buy them are not complaining.
Fact: SOLD OUT!
Myth: you will be lucky if the batteries last 6 months --
Fact: batts are rated up to 1,000 charge cycles and warranted for a full year (replacements - after that first YEAR - $25 and come with a new full year warranty - according to Evolv). No other vape battery has such a warranty.
Myth: the supplier does not stand behind the product --
Fact: we have seen a few posted problematic units, as with every device, and seen Evolv address each one to the very happy satisfaction of the purchaser - often in just a couple of days.
Myth: you can't drip with it --
Fact: you CAN drip with it and many of us do each and every day with no problems at all. Some people have not yet learned how to drip without flooding and leaking and that is a function of the person and attys used.
Myth: the warranty is a scam --
Fact: the waranty is iron-clad as we have seen with the few problematic units - All resolved tot he satisfaction of the purchaser.
Myth: it's too big to fit in your hand --
Fact: as thin as an iPhone
I am not representing Evolv and have no financial interest in Darwin, NHaler or any vape device, manufacturer or any vaping products of any kind. I just know what I like, my top line-up of devices is in my sig line - that which is first is FIRST.
I close this post with what has also been part of my signature line almost since joining ECF:
"The only stupid consumer is the one who denies himself enjoyment because of the opinions of others."
