The Darwin From Evolv!!!

got my replacement today...so happy! evolv has the best customer service out of any vendor I have dealt with when it comes to pv's, juice, anything...big thanks to brandon for not letting me have to resort to my riva for more than a day! and it seems my original darwin was a dud or something cuz this new one takes care of both the cosmetic defects i seen in my first one(my carto and adapter not screwing all the way down in the arm and the button only being raised up on one corner instead of 2. They have made a customer for life here..im very pleased..now to go try some new flavors!

I have the same problem with the cartos/atties not screwing down all the way, thought it was the way it was built or something. The arm isnt that gritty, and i dont know what the button is supposed to look like. Anyone think an email is in order?

The more I think about it, any device could have a problem. (I had TWO almost new attys die. One today and one yesterday, but that was Krispy's fault, LOL. And no, they were not LRs, and no, they did not die on the D'win.)

We are such a family of Darwin lovers here that we all feel bad when one has an issue, but the good/great news is what we all have come to realize as regards Evolv's customer service and quick turnaround time. Drew and Brandon, Evolv and Nhaler have become THE vendors of vendors.

I also feel bad for Brandon and company when this happens. They work really hard to make us happy which is great, but we also want them to make money and continue making these outstanding products. So it kind of affects all of us when these things happen.

Retird, I got mine just a few days after you did. Hope this isn't a bad batch. It's great they have such good CS I just hope they don't have to send so many replacements out that they dedide it's not worth it and quit. Maybe they will come out with a new and improved version. I have had my Prodigy V2 for 15 months and only had to clean the button a couple times and I've had my Vari since early December with no problems, just hope I have the same luck with my Darwin!

Thought about that also, the Darwin is great (IMO), and the customer service is great also, I feel for their "growing pains" and it is costing them time and money, so hopefully the minor "bugs" will be fixed, and the occurance of issues will be drastically reduced....In other words, they are "Evolving" (IMO) and this is just a phase of the process....

The gritty arm issue didn't happen with all of them and the ones that did seem to be resolving themselves. The atty/carto is not supposed to screw all the way down. You should have a gap of about 1/16 to 1/8 inch. That was intentional for air flow. Your button should be nearly flat. You should have the slightest (1/16) gap at the side nearest the atty. Hope that helps.

My buttons definitely not flat. The whole button sticks up and wiggles around a bit. Still works tho.

My first one was always perfect on arm movement/button and in every way, which was why I was sad to see it meet it's end. Luckily the new one seems even better constructed than my 2nd batch version, so I'm happy.
Word of warning though. Here is what I did stupid. I put a carto on, that I knew was good and it shut off the screen. The normal short circuit warning. Stupid me....I closed the arm and then decided I would give it a second try and when I fired it the second time, the short circuit protection couldn't handle it. That's when it ruined it.
So....word to the wise. If you get a short circuit shutdown, don't try to fire that carto ever again on the Darwin. Try it on some other device and use it there. This particular carto proved to not be shorted and worked on my battery mods. But for whatever reason, The Darwin did not like it.

Hey Cuse, I just thought of something. The atty connector on the Darwin has a very tiny gap between the center post and the threads. Did that carto by chance have a center post that was a bit off center?? That would certainly have caused a short. The same way that a bunch of the adapters were failing.

That's probably the cause of the short PC, I looked at that earlier today and it is off center. Not by alot, but I could see the possibility.

this had just happened to me with my new darwin..i boiled out all of my cartos and then filled one up and put it on the darwin and the screen just shut off..i tried it again and it shut off again..so i then took it off and put another one on there and it was fine...if i have to be sent another one, i will tell him to not overnight it as i feel bad for them having to send so many back out

Daniel, Usually if it's the Darwin's fault. Once it doesn't work, it doesn't work ever again. That sounds like a bad carto.
