The postman just dropped off my order with my highly anticipated Darwin enclosed.

Upon pulling it out of the box, I was a little disappointed to notice that the black anodize was rubbed off a bit on each side from it's travel in the box. Not a big deal really as it's not a show piece and functions just fine (great in fact), but still, I wanted to be the first to scuff it.

One thing I am a little concerned with is the brass arm as a lot of wiggle/slop from side to side. Is this normal? Rotational tension is fine, but it does wiggle quite a bit. If it's normal, I'm not worried about it given the warranty, but I'm heading out next week for 10 days around Italy and am really counting on this thing for the trip. Are they all this loose?

H82W8 some are looser than others (like women I suppose :)). Only kidding ladies! You can try to tighten the three screws on the back by the fitting. Mine has some play but works just fine. If you disassemble the unit you will see that the fitting is pretty subsatntial and there is little risk in breaking it or having it fall out. Enjoy the Darwin and welcome to the club

Thanks L2S,
I did try to snug the screws a bit but they seem tight already. Glad to hear I don't have to worry with it coming apart.
My Provari is just not pocket able enough to carry around comfortably. I suspect I'll be going through a lot of juice today playing with this thing.

Welcome to the Darwin club. Pretty soon we're going to have to make a Houston-Area Darwin Owners sub-forum LOL

H8 - I also have a Vari and have found the same. For pocket freindly the Darwin is far ahead. Also for travel since you can charge via USB. Mine has been to several Countries already and will e heading to China w/me next week

Do you travel with it in your carry on? any issue with TSA? Been reading it's been "iffy" lately. I've never had a problem before with my others, but since this looks nothing like a e-cig I figure they won't even ask.

Thanks rock, are there more than the two of us so far?? lol

Hamdamann, thanks for the info, I feel much more confident in taking it along with only my ego backup now.

I travel for business often and regularly. I ONLY fly carry on. I have not had an issue so far. Last flight was two weeks ago from London to NY. I do carry a padded SASE with me just in case since in this day and age you never know.

My wife makes 3, and at a Houston Vape Meet a couple months ago I met 2 other guys with Darwins. And I've noticed some other area folks with Darwins posting in various threads on ECF

Wow, I didn't realize so many had them or that they were out so long. I had been away from ECF for so long, I was shocked at all the advances when I popped back in. I had settled in and been just vaping along with my carto's and 808 batts for about the past year and just getting very frustrated with the lack of consistent performance from them. I'm definitely going to have to make more effort to stay current. These VV mods make for such an awesome experience and the Darwin so far is just great. I love that it controls the watts rather than volts and the ease at which it can be adjusted.

Welcome to Darwinville....happy to have you and enjoy............
Thanks Retird, This is one of the friendliest forums I can recall being associated with.

H8, glad you're loving it! I was away from the forum for just a few weeks not long ago and came back to so many new things, can't imagine the difference you came back to!

Drew, finally broke down and ordered one of the new whistle tips, and a few 306 DT's, just couldn't resist :)

I completely blame L2S for my recent shopping spree! Him and his damn nice stash left me so jealous! Next vape meet I'll have more goodies to bring to the table :) And next time hopefully I'll be able to bring my 'surprise' (looking up to those that watch-hehe, you know who you are!)

Good idea on the envelope. I'll bring one just in case.

I recently flew to Dominican Republic with 3 Darwins , a Rio Grand,a Helix, An Xhaler and like 200 mls of liquid in different sized bottles (6Ml, 30Ml) in my Lap Top/Carry On, and they never even blinked!!! I thought for sure they were going to open my bag...

:ohmy::ohmy: Were you bringing enough for all the TSA agents just in case?? lol
I guess you're able to just call them "commercial samples" with that quantity. I've seen many of your vids but I don't believe even you could vape THAT much in one flight. But I can only imagine the explaining that would be required if they had opened it up.

Thanks for the info. Y'all are awesome!

Hey BigBopper,

Was your gooseneck really, really tight when you got it? I've tried w/ mine and the GP-SSR and I can barely get anything out of it. I've loosened the adjustment screw in both pieces...

The adapter I got with my SSR pretty much closed off the airflow, luckily I had another one that worked. I have since discovered that you can unscrew the center post in the adapter, which you can use to adjust the airflow. Both adapters are working fine now. The problem is when the center post is too short, the SSR screws down too far and shuts off the airflow. Lengthening the center post keeps it from blocking the air.

Actually I was ona Golf Trip with 8 of my close freinds and brothers..My Brothers Vape also and I didnt want to have to share....I also dont risk loosing my gear in my luggage which is why I always bring it in my carry ons...I didnt have to charge a single battery while I was there...I had 3 Darwins which my brothers and I vaped heavily...I also had a spare (charged set of batts for each of the other devices...We had PVs laying in every room of the Villa with an orgy of liquids laying around...The Helix spent most of its time by the hot tub and the Xhalers (3 Total mine and my brothers') went to the Golf Courses...It was probably the best planned Vape trip I ever
had....
I can give you a word of advice that I learned...If you fly with a Reo Grand or mini, loosen up the bottle ever so slightly because if you dont, the pressure will make it leak out the atty...I was at Vapefest and somebody told me that so I was watching mine during the flight and it did start to leak out so I quickly loosened up the cap and vaped up the excess...
I also had a Stewardess see me vaping and imediately went and asked the head Stewardess a question. She came back with the flight book (from the back of the seat) opened, and asked me if I was using an electronic cigarette or a medical device...I told her it was a medical inhaler, and she said sorry and went back t what she was doing!!!
I checked the Flight Magazine later and it said that Electronic CIgs were prohibited from USE on the flight but siad nothing about carrying them.
I have travelled quite a bit and vaped on every flight that I have ever taken since Ive been vaping and never had an incident with them....

I've adjusted the screws out pretty far, but I'll try again when I get home tonight. Thanks.

The is my first day w/ The Darwin. What a nice device. I had noticed the free play in the swivel as others mentioned earlier today. Glad to hear it's to be expected. I've also noticed the screen "blinks" periodically when I first fire it. I don't know it that's me not hitting the button correctly or if it is the electronics adjusting the power???

I've been hitting on this thing non-stop since I first pulled it out of the box (feel about half stoned at the moment), and the battery level indicator has just now dropped off the Full mark!
