Hey all! Does anyone remember the page that nebulabot (do I have that right??) Wrote that awesome explanation on how Darwin works, the techy info? Was talking to someone who just bought a Darwin on the classys and said he was using the dual coil 1.5 attys and thought he would use them at 12.3 wattage when his Darwin arrived. I tried to explain, but think I'm failing miserably, LOL.

I don't remember where the post is, but I can tell you the resulting volts at a few settings. With the 1.5 ohm dual coils you have to be at 9.2 watts before the Darwin can even start to regulate the volts. Anything less than that and the Darwin will deliver 3.6 volts no matter what.
At 10 watts it delivers 3.9v.
At 11 watts it delivers 4.2v
At 12 watts it delivers 4.3
At 12.6 watts it delivers 4.4 max
So in essence, since the LR dual coils register at such a low resistance even a very large jump in watts doesn't change the actual resulting volts by much at all.

Does that help?

Edit to add: I tend to run my Dual Coils at about 11 watts. Good flavor and vapor at that point. I have put the Dual coils on a 6v mod and still haven't managed to get burnt juice.

Hi, folks. :)
That would be me. ;)
I mentioned that I would probably run the Darwin at 12w for dualies, and at 8w for my 2.6 and 2.4 ohm MAP and Torpedo tanks.
The 8w setting for the 2.6 should produce around 4.5v, and around 4.3v for the 2.4. The 1.5 ohm dualies should also draw around 4.3v, if my calculations are correct.
I use this for my calculations: Ohm's Law Calculator
My Darwin shipped yesterday via Priority Mail, and I'm really looking forward to it! :D
If someone could point me to the specs post mentioned above, I would really appreciate it - I'd like to know as much about this device as possible. :)

Edit: I'm also curious about warranty transfers for the Darwins - is this possible?
Without a valid, usable warranty (for the batt, the device itself, etc.) on a $200 device, I really won't have much use for it, and will probably just end up reselling it soon after I get it, as I just can't afford to roll those dice. :(

Nebula deleted his post, he posted about the deletion somewhere above. Sorry about that!

As far as I've heard, the warranty transfers...I'd ask Drew to be sure though :)

That's ok, I found his large review of it with all the pics, and that had most of the info I needed to get a handle on how it works. :)
I really do hope the warranty's transferable - I've been wanting one of these for a very long time. I'm also ready to pull the trigger on a "Shorty" 1" custom gooseneck for it like the one I saw earlier on in this thread to use with my MAP and Tornado tanks, and one of Nhaher's belt holsters for it, but I'm going to hold off on those until we get the official word from Drew about the warranty - no sense getting accessories for it if I'm only going to end up getting rid of it, after all.

The Darwin that is for sale on the Classies right now has a post that says:

The warranty on the Darwin is 1 year on the Battery and 2 on the rest of the unit and goes with the unit whoever buys it 2nd or 3rd hand and so on. I hope that helps.

Cool - all I need to do now is to figure out how to transfer it over - thanks, Kat! :D
Does anyone know how to do this? Is there a serial number or something you can register? Any info would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hey guys anyone know what the difference in Drews 306 LR ver 10 attys and the 306 LR regular ones are? And are they without primer like the cisco ones?

I will let Drew chime in but I believe US sourced NiChrome and the ones I have purchased from him did NOT have primer. They work great and are a few notches above the regular 306's
