Oh, trust me, I am going to stick this one out. I would have already ordered something else if I didn't think it was worth it
The self check doesn't effect vaping in any way and you really don't notice it unless your staring at the screen. If I'm watching tv at night and have Darwin sitting on the table next to me is the only time the quick flashing can be annoying, so I just turn it over and problem solved.

Isn't that only when the arm is up anyways? You could just turn it off if that is the case.
This is what I was trying to do. I was aware ahead of time about the short threads in brass, that's why I ordered the 510-510. I planned to leave the adapter in basically all the time. I was borderline alarmed when I started trying to screw the bare adapter in. It was wanting to be tighter (by fingertips) in the first half a turn, that I was comfortable with. I've cut threads by hand, I know that if you crossthread it initially, it can easily be wrong for good. I rotated it to 90 deg, that helped a bit to see alignment. I screwed the adapter into an atty, that gave me a longer plane to sight down. I gently tried three times, making sure it was straight.
I did not want to have to worry about the potential for crossthreading every time I changed atty, so I got the adapter-Darwin connection slightly tighter so that the atty will unscrew every time from the adapter by fingertips. No vicegrips or pipe wrenches were involved!
Loving it so far! The consistency of vape is great. It is actually more consistent than an analog, which makes sense with the VW aspect of this.
Yes it is time CG. Just got my backup today and the revisions are nice. The electronic switch is a real bonus and it is the first thing I noticed. The swivel seems tighter too but the flashing screen takes some getting used too!
Gonna make a list of what I need when the darwin is available again. Any suggestions? So far I am thinking a 3.4ohm 306 atty and maybe a 510 4.5? Hoping that would be good enough for me to get an idea of where I want to be voltage wise. I might even grab the 5.0 if it would make a huge difference. I have 306 LR attys already which I will try but definately at a low voltage. Anything else I might want? Those vpx tanks look very interesting but I am thinking that the size would make the unit much less portable for me so I might have to try a carto which I have never used before. At the moment I use the ego-t and those would look quite ugly on the darwin lol. Let me know what you guys think

The loveliness of the D'win is that you can use whatever you like on it, Panky. Since you're new to cartos, you might want to try the dual coils. Any atty will be fine on it, too. The VPX tank would also be a great addition, even if you were to use it primarily for home vaping.

The dual coils work great, I use a variety of 510 attys mostly in the 2ohm range, 1.5 and 2ohm 306 attys and, of course, my vpx tanks! And I usually have the dial on the Darwin right at the mid point- 8.5. The Darwin does all the guess work for you.
My 2ohm cannon atty I'm using right now set at 8.5w is delivering 4.1volts, just to give you an idea.
