I too have only had mine a few hours...lovin it. I have a bunch of different cartos and atties to try on the Darwin but tbh i stuck a regular joye 510 on via a couple of 510/510 adapters with a new drip tip and have been just so blown away with the vape i havent got around to tryin the others yet lol. Just trying a few different juices. I have a lot to look forward to with 910's 306's hv,lr stds and cartos too.

But you are correct..other than maybe leavin the cartos to sit for a bit and starting off at the lowest setting and working up...try the standard or hv stuff you have.

Thanks for the reply! All I have are some Volt cartos, but I tried one that I've been using on the volt and it works so much better! This is 2.7 ohm, the only 510s I have are 2 ohm. I guess it's time for another order already. I love the easy draw and massive vapor I'm getting from this thing, much more satisfying. NOw I can play with the power setting a bit and see if I can find Nirvana.

Remember and drink plenty of water Rob and vape on!

LOL, I'm sitting here with a Test Pilot right now, kind of the oposite of drinking water! But it goes sooooo nice with RY4!

Thanks for the reminder, I'll make sure I chug a couple glasses before I head to bed.
I feel so lucky right now to have the Darwin is my first mod. :vapor:

the ob, all your questions are good. There are many new vapers here so bring it! My answer to your question (below) is don't look. Vape. Too warm, too cool? Turn the dial and don't worry bout the "pixies" (awwwwww, I miss Sew). As far as holding the button down? Til your done with that vape? LOL :)

(How do you check all the stats of volts and the other info when you are actually using the darwin? Or do you just push the button and look? How long do you hold down the button for?)

Dark, hi to you and congrats and welcome! It's all you wanted it to be, right? Yeah baby!

chose, are you entranced? Isn't it wonderful to vape so blissfully? Forget the numbers, and go coma! Glad your wife approves, but why isn't she grinning ear to ear? (Ski, help?)

the ob, I'm also using an HH on the D'win. Your numbers are fine, everything's correct. VaPe! ALOT! Stop analyzing this and enjoy it sweetie!

Talkative bunch we have here....3 pages in 4 hours!

Yes, I noticed!

Just taking up the slack for you Kris and ..... no wait KD has been busy :)

Ski, baby, I have been but I'm here for a bit! Trying to catch up. I've got new mods, attys and such and welp, a girl's gotta do what a girl has to do ;)

choose said "....".

menthollight, thanks. Sometimes I remember stuff ;) And loved what you wrote!

That's EXACTLY what I want to do - use my Volt/G6 cartos on my Darwin. But I also have a 510 carto loaded up with some juice now that vapes perfectly at "Big Number Six".

The SI RY4 juice I've found needs to be vaped at a lower setting when using it with a 510 carto. Cranking that juice up to the midpoint of 8.4 will choke a Silverback gorilla.
Said gorilla will then get mad and beat you to death with the Darwin.

I'll be putting in an order for a buttload of 555 cartos and juice as soon as he replenshes his supplies and should know more how they work with the Darwin after the 16th (when I land back in NC).
I'm basically just using the Darwin as a VERY expensive giant battery for my SI juice and cartos. That way I maintain a level of compatibility with my Volt gear on something I alreayd know I like.
I save the attys for "juice testing" with various vendors' blends.

Lol! I think it might actually be durable enough for that...

Honestly this thing is built like a tank.
With a few minor modifications it could probably become the world's first PV mod to achieve MIL-STD-810 certification.
That would then technically make it legal for use in all military environments.

Just how awesome is Evolv?

I sent a PM to the Evolv guys telling them how the Darwin that was shipped to me was kind of broken. It would not stay turned off when the arm was fully closed no matter HOW slowly one closed it. ALso, the 510 adpater was kind of put on with a screwy tilt towards the the main base. Made it almost impossible to close it with ANYTHING attached to it no matter how much one loosened the attachment. Also, when it got to me the button was stuck in the ON position and it was completely turned on!
That's right: my Darwin was turned on with the button pressed the whole time it was shipping to me in the mail - for 5 days!

I was able to unjam the buttom and it still worked, except for the not powering off issue.

On August 4 they shipped me a new one that just got dropped off by SGT Slappy TODAY!
That's 5 days to go from Ohio to the border of Iraq/Kuwait via the regular ol' United States Post Office.

The replacement Darwin - which I call Darwinator, Destroyer of Worlds - arrived in a nice small box lovingly wrapped in foam. It works perfectly. No matter how fast I flip the arm to the OFF position it always turns off and - more importantly - STAYS off. Loaded up a 510 carto with some new 555 @ 6mg that also just arrived and....ahhhh.
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. A slim, tank-tough variable-voltage mod for my cartos and juice I get from another vendor (other vendor also located in Ohio near the APO center so carto and juice get here quick as well!).

Overall I'm a very satisfied customer for the following reasons:

1) When I asked Drew why the Evolv store didn't have options listed for shipping to APOs, he almost immediately made options appear (read: automagically!). Excellent customer service even though I wasn't a customer!

2) When Darwin arrived in a less-than-optimal condition (note: it still worked) they shipped out a replacement THE SAME DAY. They even provided a nice sticker to use on the box. Well worth the $5 or so it will cost to ship back to them. I'm shipping it back to them today since they were so nice to send me a replacement so quickly.

3) The Darwin - even when working in sub-optimal condition - just flat out WORKS. Yes, it took me a week to actually figure out how to optimize it for my own personal use, but once the light bulb went off it performed perfectly, every time.

4) As luck would have it, for some strange reason Drew & crew must live almost right next door to a major APO facility somewhere in Ohio. This makes them the FASTEST vendor to ship to APOs that I've found - most packages take only 5 days, 6 at the latest. My juice/carto/808 vendor is about a day or two slower than Evolv taking on average 7 days - and he's located in the same state! And remember, this isn't using UPS, or DHL, or any other private package shipping company - this is using the United States Post Office. Drew and the Evolv team have their shipping times down pat.

So, will I buy something from Drew and Evolv again? You damn skippy! Matter of fact, I already have and it should be here any day now! It's probably on that big mail truck I see trapped at the main gate getting searched by guards with bomb-sniffing dogs.

LOL, exactly. I really like the Volt cartos, but I want to use 510 or 801 cartos so I don't have to refill as often. Do they make a horizontal coil model for those? It seems like they should.

In the meantime I've been thinking, maybe I should cut that wire I see sticking out the top of the padding inside the dual coil 510. It's a 2 ohm cartomizer, I assume that would make it a 4 ohm single coil. Hmmm, anyone try to do this? I googled but didn't see anything.

You really must try the cannon ikv atty (801 with 510 threads) on it, I use the 2.0 set at 8.4 and it is amazing! (needs frequent baths, so I've learned though), and no adapter needed ;)

Next order to IKV I will try one of these. I usually vape a cartomizer, but I like to be able to drip when I want to change up flavors or just try something new. I started with 2.0 510s from IKV and they work well so far, but the juice I've been dripping likes high power (Quick Nic RY4, never could get a decent vape from this stuff in my Volt, MUCH better with the Darwin).

You want to take a look at these.
It's like a jumbo Volt carto.

Well, I'm a little bummed. I'm missing my beloved Darwin. I had to send it in for servicing because one of the batt cells decided that it no longer wanted to work. I'm pretty sure it's the cell, because after a 12 hour charge it still wasn't fully charged, as well as the fact that when I tested it with a 2.4 ohm Clearo, the batt meter would visibly drop when it was triggered and recover when released.
However, the good news is that Brandon will not only replace the batteries, he's also going to upgrade the electronics in it to the latest revision version, so it's all good - mine was the rev. 7 model, I think.
Best guarantee and customer service ever!

You do NOT want to cut that wire. That would only kill the carto. One end of that wire is connected to the pos center of the carto and the other end is connected to the outer neg side of the connector. If you cut it you would be killing the connection.

OK, thanks. I thought the two coils might be wired in parallel and the wire at the top was just for the top atomizer. Oh well, I'll just stick with the Volt cartos until my IKV order comes in...
