The Darwin From Evolv!!!

FilthyB, I don't think it is normal, or at least it's not like mine, or most pics I have seen. I read through this whole thread before I ordered my Darwin, and somewhere many hundreds of pages back, I read about someone cross-threading their brass fitting. I come from a background of 'mechanical stuff' and I know cross-threading is a bad deal. Since the fitting is brass, it is somewhat softer. It is also not (easily) user-replaceable. I ordered a 510-510 adapter along with mine from the start. I didn't put Loctite on it, but I got it enough tighter than I would ever be putting atty/cartos on by hand, so it would stay on there.

From your pic, it does almost look like the 510-510 might be a little crooked. It won't hurt anything functionality-wise, but I wouldn't want it scratching off the finish on mine, either.

I have used several double-coils, and other cartos that were longer than usual. I pocket mine while folded quite a bit, but make an effort to not sit on it. Perhaps because of the extra leverage from longer cartos, I see that the female threads in my 510-510 are slightly loose now. I can wiggle whatever I have screwed into it very slightly. It has never been cross-threaded, and close examination doesn't show any visible damage.

If it ever bothers me enough, I can put in a different 510-510.

I just purchased a Darwin on the ECF Classie's. I was unsure if I had a battery issue. So I contacted Evolv. As it turns out I did have a battery issue. So I returned it to Evolv Saturday 8/20. Needless to say it is 8/24 and my Darwin is fixed and in my hands right this very moment. A Warranty is only as good as the Company that provides the service. I give Evolv LLC a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10 for Warranty issues. They are Top shelf. I suspect Brandon is one of Santa's Elf's. Living at a Post Office somewhere in Ohio to pull off such a insanely fast turnaround like I got. And it was not just an exchange. We are talking Personal attention given to Your Darwin. You'll see what I'm talking about when you send it in for repair. Your only concern should be what PV to use wile your Darwin is being repaired.

Congraulations on your Darwin and I do agree Evolv Customer Service is second to no ones. They are always pleasant and ready to help and the turn around to get you device back is insane.

Oh ya, the Darwin is now my PV of choice. In the 20 months of vaping I have amassed a collection of sub par attys. I love the way I can now use those atty's for maximum performance. To anyone who was sitting on the fence like I was I say now is the time to get your Darwin. The switch issue, Fixed. Any other Issue that do creep up will be addressed to your 100 % satisfaction because Evolve will stand behind there product. It is truly well worth the cost to purchase one.

Good morning Darwinians...if anyone has experience using an 801 atty w/Darwin (or on anything else for that matter) give me some tips on how to prevent it from tasting burnt after only a few hits.

Im running4.8 801 atty @5.2 volts (dial's on 5.2 also) and although it was primed well (no primer taste) the juice seems to burn off rather quickly and I drop in about 6 more drops and BAM! burnt taste, burning tongue...not primer "burnt", just too dang hot or something...what's up???

Im vaping 70/30 clear juice BTW... These 801's are a trip!!!!

Might sound crazy, but give a native 801 cartridge a try. This is one of the few atty designs that the carts actually work pretty well right out of the box (maybe even better with blue foam from a fish tank or nylon pyramid tea bag material). They do thin the vape out some compared to dripping but still a very nice hit in my opinion. Yes, you will want to top the carts pretty often and keep them good and wet, but not nearly as often as dripping requires I have a few flavors in my collection that really shine with the 801 and its native unmodded cartridge.

So much good stuff out there these days! It's all just different...
Depending on my mood and the juice at hand...

I like the 801 HV using its native cartridge for flavors that I only small amounts at a time.
I'll drip in these for higher PH liquids that easily acquire 'plastic flavors' from cartridges or poly filler.

For cartomizers I've long enjoyed the metal CE2 XL. These are a great value for the money as they last for a long time! The catch with these are that they're a bit of a pain in the .... to fill if you're in a hurry. Stop everything...pull pieces out of the carto, inject liquid with a syringe. It doesn't take long and is very clean/efficient process....but sometimes I just don't feel like messing with it. In the past month or so the clear ones have had a major redesign as well...new materials all the way around...and they also have a newer CE3 bottom coil design that should be hitting stores soon. So if you want clear stuff...wait till the new ones hit the shelves

The latest Maxomizer/Giantomizer designs are nice if you like the CE2 engine (The model that Nhaler has in stock), and they do last a long time for me. The Giant ones hold nearly 4ml of liquid but will still allow the Darwin arm to close for me (unlike the bigger tanks that hold a regular CE2 engine). Unmodded these also require a syringe or needles on your bottles, but you'll probably only need to do this once a day, or less While the might seem a bit pricey up front, do realize that they will last you for several weeks easily with most liquids. If you don't mind, and have time for some routine cleaning they can go for months.

Here lately I don't have as much time to mess with filling a CE2, dripping, or keeping poly-fill cartos wet, so I reach for a Bud Sapphire carto and a bottle of liquid to refill it every hour or so. These little guys are an all in one cartomizer built kind of like an eGo T in terms of the liquid feeding apparatus (except these actually work much better than eGo T/510 T), and are super easy/fast to fill.

I do have some liquids that are nice to me with the SmokeTech Dual Coils from 2 Ohm to 2.5 Ohm. My problems with these are that they use quite a lot of liquid quickly and require constant dripping to keep them wet (unless you get a tank from Drew with predrilled cartos or drill your own).

I still have one flavor that sucks in everything but a horizontal coil KR808-D1 cartomizer. If I put it in one of these, it's excellent. I have no logical way of explaining this...maybe it's all in my head, but oh well. It works for me

More and more each month it becomes safer to say that almost all of the stuff out there works pretty well! It's just all so different...personally subjective...a bit like food!
Mix and match vaping engines with different liquids to find your favorites.

I had the same burnt taste issue with the 801's I ordered on clearance from healthcabin. After only a few drags it tastes burnt. Well I've only tried one so far, but thinking it may be a wicking issue in the atty. Going to try dewicking or debridging and ill let ya know how it goes.
