cobra, I'm pretty sure the brass connector is covered under warranty. I got my Darwin before they started shipping them with an extender thread-locked in place and went for a few months without using one at all. I never noticed any significant wear on the threads, though I'm always careful not to over tighten, but recently have put an adapter on and it hasn't been removed since. I use it as a "peace of mind" sorta thing more than any actual concern

On the 510-T attys, I'm actually surprised I can't run them higher than 6 watts. Like you said, that's only about 3.8 volts, and I use them on my SD, which with a fresh batt puts out more than that . . .

Not for nothing but theres just nothing better then dripping into a high quality Atty with the Darwin, people can have there tanks/ Cartos/Mods/ anything they want but I just love the flavor and plumes of vapor dripping into my dam Darin, it's the best dam vape to me.! I have iAtty's, G-Tanks , all the carto tanks, every dam mod there is worth buying, no other PV on the market makes the Atty's respond and perform the way the Electronics do in this Darwin, none of them !!!

Welcome, KC. I don't have much to add. I usually charge with it off, but you can charge either way. Here are a couple other points that have been mentioned previously but I will reiterate here so you don't have to dig through thousands of posts:
1. The backlight on the screen will "flicker" every 6 seconds or so. This happens as part of an automatic self test and is normal while the Darwin is powered on.
2. The battery level indicator tends to stay at "full" longer. Once it starts to go down it will go down faster. Sort of like a full tank of gas often does. Don't worry, there is a lot of power in these batteries, so you should have no problem getting through a full day or two.
3. Higher resistance attys tend to work a little better on the Darwin. It gives you more adjustability on the low end, but LR and DCs do work.

Welcome and enjoy your new Darwin!

I've noticed that my battery indicator drops down to about 75% within a couple hours. Then stays there for about 4 or 5 hours, then drops to 50%. From there another 5 or 6 hours till it's done. But keep in mind that I'm running 1.25Ω dual coils at 12.7 watts. I've been plugging mine in while in the car to get through the day.

How many watts are people using? I know this is dependent on a lot of things but I'm just curious. I started at 7.1 and have now bumped it up to 7.6, I'm looking to find a setting which vapes well but not enough to make me cough.

So what's the deal with higher power vaping anyway? I do have an idea here, but I'm wondering what other people think. Other than subjective things like a more satisfying vape, warmer, etc, what's the science behind it?

I find it depends on what I put on there. With a Boge 2.0 carto, around 9 watts. With a CE2, it burns anything over 7 watts. On dual coils, I crank it all the way up to 12.7 for the best experience.

Depends on what you've got on it and the juice you're using (some flavors come through better at higher or lower watts). Here's my rough ranges for different attys:

510 or 306 (dripping) - whatever feels good, varies greatly based on juice
510-T/ego-T/CE3's - 6 watts max, much more and I start to get dry hits
Dual coils - anywhere in the 9-12 watt range, typically
CE2's (stock tubes or syringe modded, not in tanks) - 4.8-7.0 watts, depending on juice and how fast it's wicking

Those are my rough sweet spots, anyway. YMMV. I've got some 3 ohm duallies on the way, can't wait to try those out on the Darwin :vapor:

I was just thinking it would be great if there were some higher ohm good DCC's. How much and where did you get them.

Hillock I understand I 'm chiming in alittle late here but you do need to give EVOLV a chance to make it right by you. And they will. I purchased my Darwin on the ECF classified. Right from the get go I had an issue that turned out to be a battery issue. I contacted EVOLV and they agreed. I sent it back and within 4 days it was returned to me. FIXED. Side note here. Evolv did not use the prepaid self printed label to return my Darwin. They sent it Overnight Mail. Needless to say I was very impressed. That level of costumer service is hard to find today anywhere let alone in the PV market. It is after all such a small market. And you would get that same level of customer service from Nhailer.com. And yes I personally know, because I was a learker way be for I became a member.

That used to happen to me once in a while, usually after vaping a strong flavor for an extended period. In those cases I just pick a mellow flavor or vape un-flavored and go through my day, eventually my taste buds recover. Doesn't happen to me often anymore unless I vape a lot of mint or menthol

Actually, KD, it's the mint/menthol that wipes out my taste buds, not restores them :p

I don't generally do menthol, anyway, but when I first started vaping I tried the Top Vapors Irish Myntz and fell in love with it (hated almost every juice from that brand I tried, but that one i liked). Vape more than a ml or so and my taste buds go MIA for a while :(

KJ, I can't do more than a puff or two on mints. As I said, one drop is plenty enuf for me. I've tried a carto full of mint mixed with other flavors and I end up with a splitting headache! Go figure. There were many years that I smoked Salem cigs (not in recent smoking years tho) and enjoyed that minty taste. I adore Junior Mints tho.
