I can't tell you just yet, it only shipped today ;-) I get the impression that it's not as high-maintenance as some people seem to think, though there will definitely be more than with any of my other mods. Heck, as far as maintenance requirements go, I think the Darwin is about as low-maintenance as you can get. Cuse would be one to ask that question of, I know he has one (or maybe two) in his arsenal

Personally, I don't have much of a problem switching between variable and fixed voltage, I just have to be more aware of the resistance of my cartos and attys in order to have a satisfying vape. I do primarily stick with variable, though. Ultimately when it comes to mods, for me I weigh them as a total package and not just any particular feature. Every device is a completely different experience IMHO

I would love to put in my 2c on this conversation but I am going to handcuff myself,,,, Darwin just rules, now when someone adds a feed system to this though it is really going to rule, and there are people working on just that ;-) not me of course but some good people.

@Rob, yes and yes. One I've already got on the way, the other I'll definitely be getting when it's released :p Like any other mod I've bought, though, it won't be replacing my Darwin. That is my every day out-and-about mod and has been since the day I got it, I don't see that changing any time soon ;-)

Expensive? Don't remind me, I'm still in denial

<snip> They are so collectable looking (I don't have the coin for those collections)<snap>
Huff, beware. I spent a few decades acquiring 40's and 50's vehicles. They are also known as...... LAWN ORNAMENTS. My neighbors don't seem to see the value. They are stupid!

IME this is supposed to be Darwin Porn :) Do we need to call in the fluff girl your unit looks like it could use some help getting fully extended. The shield looks nice. Now once the TT shows up you will be right up there with Panky!

For anyone interested in the GoGo cartomizer, some info on the two 510-GoGo adapters I've tried:

First a size comparison between the DiscountVapers "510 Battery to GoGo" (left) and the "510/eGo Battery to GoGo" (right, and the one most commonly found elsewhere):

IMG_0907_2011_Nov.jpg

Here's the 501/eGo to GoGo adapter disassembled. The nubs left & right are the posts, normally connected through the larger body by the wire you see. The only insulation are the small silicone gaskets you see on the nubs/pins. Two failures can occur: either the wire breaks at one of the posts and shorts to the body, or the thin silicone gaskets tear from repeated compression from the battery or cartomizer, shorting to the body.

Here's the 510 Battery to GoGo adapter disassembled. Note the center post is solid and surrounded by the slightly denser white silicone insulator. This is more like most standard 510 shorty extenders. While it may not completely prevent a short, it is certainly less likely.

Now a comparison of both on a GoGo cartomizer. note the "510 Battery to GoGo" adapter is shorter, thinner and has the same diameter as the cartomizer.

The "510/eGo Battery to GoGo" adapter and GoGo cartomizer on the Darwin. Arrow points to where the thickest part of the adapter prevents closing the swing arm. Adding a shorty extender does allow closing, but the adapter body scratches the finish when closed.

The "510 Battery to GoGo" adapter and GoGo cartomizer on the Darwin. The low profile and smaller diameter allow completely closing the swing arm to the Off position, no extender required.

I think the "510 Battery to GoGo" adapter is going to be the much more reliable piece. I can't even imagine why the "510/eGo" version is built the way it is, but my experience is a 100% failure rate in a very short time.

The only issue with the smaller adapter is due to its profile it can be very difficult to remove from either the cartomizer or the Darwin (whichever it remains stuck in when removing the cartomizer).

Hopefully this will help someone out there make a good adapter choice. I wasn't a fan at first but the long vape time on the GoGo carto is definitely growing on me.

While I was taking pictures, here are two clear shots of the new Blue screen.

With the Darwin Off. While you can kind of make out the smaller characters here it can be difficult to make anything out at normal viewing distance.

With the Darwin On. Personally I think this display is much nicer than the old one when the Darwin is on. It actually seems more clear than this picture indicates.

Sorry Vapian. Didn't mean to override your blue screen pics, or GoGo adapter ones! (neither of which are provoking a jealous rage in me... yet.) ;)

Dear, I find your attitude verging on prudish. There is no "porn" here, only ... educational material. Nothing has been displayed that could not be vaped to in public.

;)
