Allazar, the correct answer is "everything". There are some things that are not needed, but everything works. For example, low-resistance atty/cartos were only created to let a fix-voltage device run a little hotter, simulating higher voltage. With nearly any device, LR will run your battery down faster. With Darwin, just use SR and turn it up.

I have run the gamut on several atty/carto combinations, Boge 510d @ 3 ohm is what I like the best. I run it between 6.5 and 8.7 watts, depending on my day and mood.

I use Smoktech slim DCTs with an 801 Fusion mega

Question:

Can I get opinions from Darwinia about what devices you typically like to use with the Darwin? I am looking for more information about what atty, cartomizer or tank accessories that you typically like to use and why you choose those accessiories for use with your Darwin. ;)

Hello darwinia! Quick question. Obviously the Darwin is amazing, I was wondering if someone with both the opus and Darwin could comment on how the opus compares when running LR dual coils? The dual coil cartos at max wattage on the D is my favorite vape, will opus power them the same? Thanks!
While I am NOT a DC user, I just happened to have loaded up a SMOK DC (ego mega style) on a Darwin at 12.7 watts. I am using it on Darwin with a 1" 510 to 510 adapter. On Darwin, the reading is 1.4Ωs and on a MM reads 1.5Ω. So I checked the Darwin screen for voltage output and it reads 4.4 volts. I threw on an under-load meter (basic digital in box with 510 connectors on each end) and that reads 4.32 volts. I then put the same combo on Opus at full tilt and it reads 4.23 under load. The vape is relatively indistinguishable.

FWIW - while we can discuss the numbers till the cows come home, I am finding a slightly more intense vape experience on Opus compared to Darwin. Both are amazingly consistent (compared against itself and other devices) and yet despite the numbers, I think there is something in the Opus programming that is slightly different from Darwin. This could be from different components and/or different soft/firm-ware. I just find the vape experience on Opus just a hint more intense. This is a subtle difference but one I notice. I am enjoying the Opus very much. I like the form factor and the wood. The button may be the nicest I have used yet.

As others have posted, it really is completely subjective. Whatever people say is "best" is THIER "best". As I have posted elsewhere, and in this thread, I dripped in attys for over a year and all baccos/bacco-menthols. I found the Joye 302 (801 style) my favorite atty - yes, on Darwin too. I did not like these juices in ANY carto (and I tried them all - those avail at the time). About a year ago I switched to fruit and sweeter juices and found I like them best in cartos. Again, I tried pretty much everything available. I am not a DC or LR fan in any way. I have compared (same manufacturer and models) LR to SR and used voltages to equalize the watts (pre-Darwin) and done the same comparisons ON Darwin leaving the watts setting fixed. Consistently I prefer SR Ωs and higher voltage (more specifically around 2.8Ω and 8.5 watts); I just find the vape smoother and richer - but this is MY taste/preference. I prefer the Boge JCA302 carto (aka fusion/801) and I use carto tanks. Others prefer 510 versions, smok, DCs, LR, etc. You really need to try various attys and cartos and Ωs on your device at various settings with your juices and your taste buds to find YOUR "best".

Guess I could add some more details... I vape NLV almost exclusively (65v/35p... perfect, imho)... and I like ~10 watts. Even at 6mg, I get fantastic throat hit, vapor, flavor.

I am not a big fan of cartos (even DC cartos)... I just dont get the amount of vapor from a carto that I can from an atty. I also don't like the disposable nature of Cartos... my IKV atties go for months and months using a dry burn to clean/recondition the coils...

I can't wait to get a Darwin do I can feel the love, I've wanted one ever since I tried vaping a few years ago, and kept going back to smoking... I'm feeling pretty good that if I get my hands on a Darwin I won't go back to smoking. This has been the longest I've gone without a cigarette (8 months as a non-smoker)!

jkmtwo, brother, i know you were giving that darwin on the classifieds last night the hairy eyeball. i was looking at the thread for like ten minutes before seeing that someone PM'd the seller and i was like, 'thank god someone NOT me is making a bid on this.' i already have the darwin but when i saw the price coupled with the possibility of new ones on the horizon--i felt kinda relieved to see it go, haha. now, let me just keep my fingers crossed that we can get new ones so that i have the best back-up for the best PV! now that you are provari-free and battery-free, i know that USB charger and your Opus will do you right in hawaii, haha!

Hey, all. I just got my hands on my new blue screen Darwin today and i must say that i love it. I do have two quick questions though....

1) Is the swivel arm supposed to have some play when you are locked in at one of the 3 open positions or should it be tight and not move at all?

2) Where can i get a good sealed 510-510 adapter that is maybe 1" long? Or, who has the best sealed adapters?

Thanks much. I am proud to be a Darwinian. :)

Welcome to the club!!!

Yes some play is normal

Sealed 510 to 510's are on Drews site. Not 1" long but you can stack a few to get 1".

Happy vapes and try not to fall asleep with the new toy in your hand tonight :)
