It's kind of funny, some of the cheapest fixed voltage PVs come in a velvet-lined presentation box, some pre-loaded cartos, a charger/
batteries, and an instruction pamphlet often written in
amusing Engrish.
Darwin comes with a charger and nothing else. It's mini-USB, widely available in convenience stores/truck stops/online. The instructions are simple.
Adjust wheel. Notice numbers. Push button. Repeat.
I guess it's assumed that since you are purchasing a top-quality high end device made in the USA you have figured out which 510 things you like to use, and what
juice. For most users, pre-loaded cartos would merely be an insult at this point.
The low cost of some of the starter kit fluff is probably truly astounding if we knew. I bought a pair of cycling gloves from China for 99 cents with
free shipping from the other side of the world. I see these apparently exact same things in Walmart for USD $15. Of course they are cheap, and not what a pro cyclist would use, but I am a beginner, and they are just fine for now. The additional cost of starter kit items is fractions of a cent.
But if we're buying a Darwin from Ohio? We don't need no steenking starter kit...
