Just for general information - if the Darwin shorts you see three indications. The first thing is the device will not fire. The second is the battery gauge goes to empty. The third is the Evolv logo changes to what sort of looks like a no-smoking symbol. If you encounter these, do not just continue to try to fire the device. Unthread and gently (to finger snug only) rethread the atty and then try again carefully monitoring for any of these indicators. If even one comes up, replace the atty or carto. If you are using an adapter, try a new adapter (adapters go bad as the internal gaskets soften and the positive terminal can move to touch the sides or can develop internal shorts which may or may not be visible). That's so funny.. Ive never seen that short symbol either. LOL. I guess all my adapters are good then, huh? Another use for the Darwin.. Adapter Tester..
Heres what a Z-Atty-P looks like on a Darwin.. Works great,, Had to use a long adapter tho..
Opus short circuit protection is same as Darwin's because Opus is using Evolv DNA inside. Just no display to tell you the other two indicators so your ONLY indicator is no fire. If that happens, same as above in my last post.On the adapter issue, I just found out how finnicy these damn things can be, I have an ACTv3, I took it to Hawaii with me, but never used it, it rode in my checked luggage, I got back and figured I'd pull it out and fill it up, done, slapped it on my Opus, and nothing, I'm guessing it jacked up my Opus, still waiting to get it back, but after a couple of days I picked it back up and realized the center post is loose, I touch it and it comes right off in my hand, I was like, well, I guess that's what happened to my Opus.
I'm just glad I didn't fire that thing on my Legacy first.
As I mentioned, Darwins have undergone several revisions mostly having to do with various ways to make them more impregnable to juice. The circuitry IS conformal coated but the button (internal physical button) and potentiometer are both moving parts and cannot be 100% juice "proof". Both are liquid resistant but not "proof" - at least as far as I know.I was thinking of the juice issue with it getting into the darwin and the 1st thing that came to mind is liquipel technology. If you haven't heard of it youtube it. Its amazing. It was designed for cellphones but could easily be applied to ecigs. It's a nano coating that goes on the entire electrical board of a cellphone that basically makes it waterproof. Like you can drop it in water and literally nothing happens to it. It would be nice to be able to give the darwin a bath now and again. Lol! Or vape in the shower.
LB, congrats. I am happy for your Grandson and your entire family. As L2S said, spoil him rotten, sugar him up b4 returning him to his parents and buy him lots of obnoxiously loud toys.
