Lulu mine was leaking and it came with a crack in the plastic, they sent me a replacement but I'm in CA right now so I can't test the new unit :).

Well, that's the problem........this IS a replacement. Since I didn't want to be disappointed when I took it apart at a later date I went ahead and took it apart when it arrived. I would love these if they WOULD WORK AS ADVERTISED! Dang it! I just threw both of them away.....not willing to putz around with equipment that just doesn't do it for me. Sorry Daniel(mtvapor).....it's just an outstanding idea that went horribly wrong.

Got mine friday. That's when I discovered there was no play in the slots and the other tip wouldn't fit. No matter. Cyrus is right. I swapped out the nipple for the old school top hats on the original stardusts and it eliminated the groaning noise as air moved through it but still was like sucking on a wet cigarette.

Their foresight seems to be the downfall of these. The post the head screws on to is solid. (as in drip protected) So it's nice they tried to keep these from being leaky but it just wound up making the draw super tight. There may be other factors involved but I'm honestly just going to leave the solution finding to others from now on. If I can bend or break or swap something for something else in ten minutes or less, I'm down. (learning curves excluded of course- I can now tear apart, rewire and wick an echomizer in about 3 minutes)
I will no longer spend an entire evening or pick up a power tool to fix something that should have worked well the moment somebody wanted my hard earned money for it. Amen.

And yes, no offence to vendors like Mtn Vapor. They are really being innovative and taking the time to reach out to their customers. They rock.

I'm gonna vape my favorite DIY black licorice, anis, horehound, liquid smoke(black fire) in honer of all my amazing friends here. CHEERS:vapor:

Where do you get your flavors? I have a good FP recipe that I play around with to keep it interesting (you know...touch more black fire....maybe a drop of perique... that type of thing.) but am looking for something new. Had been using the FA Royal for it's licorice note but am running low.)

I just switched from filler cartos to clearos and I am so much happier. Both my 1300 Echo 808d batts from Victoria at The Vapor Girl have been 100% reliable and my favorite 24mg juice (wintergreen) from Northwest Vapors make this my first perfect Echo kit. Now, I just have to hold on to hope that none of my favorite suppliers close in the future. I dislike scouting out new suppliers once I've found the right supply/cost budget. ;)

Charlz, I use Capella flavorings as much as I can. I found that they are forgiving, in that you can be off a smidge here or there and it still tastes great. obviously they don't have flavors for all I use, but for anyone looking at DIY, Capella is a great way to start. If you like menthol notes, horehound is like black licorice/menthol and is verrrrrry strong. Anis is a more European black licorice, in that it is not sweet. Black licorice is definately the "candy" style flavor of the three, and every brand I've tried is actualy quite good. Black licorice was once explained to me as an aquired taste. I truely enjoy looking at people when they try my Echo's loaded with it. Many of my friends have told me they know when I'm down town Iowa City, because they can smell the black licorice fragrence in the air. I am immently more popular with my vanilla/maple/carmel/prayline mix. One last thing, and I don't know why, single coil Echomizers vape DIY realy nicely.

Hope everyones holliday was a great one. You all deserve it.

I think the muted nature of a cartomizer sometimes works to the advantage of a diy mixer in that it tones down some of the sharp edges that otherwise may need weeks of steeping. I've been mostly FA and use them to add layers to the Vaping Zone french pipe concentrate which is good but lacks body or character. I'm a big fan of the oakwood which adds a nice woody flavor to a pipe blend at small amounts. As usual though it's easy to overdo it with FA.

I think I got it. It's the center post on the head of the turbo II that caused the restricted airflow. You will see the screw looking post and a white silicone divider when you inspect the bottom of the head.

Carefully take out the screw looking post leaving the silicone in place. If you have the slightest bit of nails, it's easy to do. If you are a nail bitter proceed with caution with a jeweler's screw driver. See that the tails of the coils stay sticking out the bottom. You have to look close but they are there on either side of the white silicone. I accidentally pushed the wire in when I reinserted the post and it was making intermittent contact and cost me about 30 mins of frustration.
1) Take what I'll refer to as the nipple end of the post and squeeze it in a pair of needle nose to crack it off.
2)Find a thin, finishing type nail and place the center post on a block of wood with the part where the nipple was to the wood. Tap the nail through the other end a couple of times gently. You need subtle, gentle perfection. If you tap too much or take a power tool to it, you will open it up too much and make it too airy to fire the coil properly. I had two to work with so I ruined one but got it better on the second try.
3) reinsert the center post and wet the coil and wicks with juice and put everything back together. Check to see if it worked before refilling.

Simple, easy....no power tools required
It's still not a total winner in my book but now it's useable and not a total waste of money. Once I filled it it took a few toots to get it going but it's producing decent vapor now and the draw is super smooth.

Speaking of adapters (we are doing that, correct?) I have grown somewhat weary of scrounging around for Echo parts and accessories so I'm going to try an Ego Twist. I've Googled several different phrases that should bring up such an animal but am hesitant to pull the triggers. Would anyone be willing to point me in the right direction for this? I'm going to continue to use the Echo clearomizers with the Twist which is my reason for asking. Thanks.

Go to Discount Vapers. The reason I point you there is because they carry the T2 I've been raving about. They are currently out of replacement heads for the T2 but a couple of those clearos should get you started.

I use 808 gear for reasons of financial conservation. The absense of a new, gee-whiz devcie each and every day saves me from making many purchases. :)

I totally understand your reasons for sticking with Echo and you are totally correct that there is nothing new under the sun for them however I've stuck with them for over a year and it's time for me to move on. I still have at least 4 unopened 1300 batteries so the Echo will be with me for quite a while longer. I expect everyone is going to have a harder time justifying "toys" in the present economy, I know I do. But I'm hoping for a change in D.C. so maybe we are only on the edge of the cliff with all 4 wheels on the ground instead of hanging over the edge with only two on the ground.

Ordered eGo Twist 650 from Vapor Beast with free shipping. T2 from Discount Vapers. Will "bird-dog" the postal person beginning Monday.:):)

I'm looking @ altsmoke.com and they say the Joye trademark should be on the battery as: eGo 650-C Twist and if it's not there it's a knockoff. Did I just buy a knockoff?
