That's called insanity...

That's how desperately some people want to quit smoking. They will try again and again, hoping that SOMETHING will work. That's why I'm passionate about vaping, so far it seems to be the best chance most people will have to get themselves away from smoking.

What about kids who have neglectful parents? Should we just give up on them? I always love it how people want to say that kids just need good parents and there's no need for society to intervene, even though they know there are a lot of horrible parents out there. Then, they blame the children when they act horribly.

People who say that we just need good parenting need to look at the reality of things.

kids with lousy parents would fall by the way side insuring my kids a better chance at succeeding.
screw'em.

There are a lot of children that have very good parents, excellent even. All the love, warnings and good parenting in the world isn't going to stop some kids from smoking. I know all about it, I was one of those kids. There's plenty of bad parenting without vilifying every parent of an underage smoker. I know that's not what all of you meant, it just kinda comes off that way sometimes and not just on this thread. Mini rant over. :)

That "definition" of insanity is actually not in any way a proper one. It's in the same league as "we only use 10% of our brain"...

We were speaking about addiction, where insanity is commonly and frequently defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

Still not a good, and certainly not a clinical definition of insanity (or more properly mental illness). And equating addiction/dependence with insanity isn't very helpful. I have a mental disorder (not addiction or dependence), and even that doesn't qualify as insanity.

Pretty sure the discussion was about smoking addiction, not mental disorders...r

At least we know cigarettes will kill us...too bad we don't know that about vaping..."lesser of two evils?" Whatever. No one knows. If you think about it the logic is so flawed. I know analogs will kill me but I really do not know if vaping will kill me so all good, I will stick with vaping. It is pure addict logic. Delusional, irrational, denial, addict justification and total illusion. But oh yea, the nic is not addictive, it's other things as well....more delusion. ..
