I think it was required watching by kids of my generation. I was in high school in the late eighties and lived just outside Chicago so all the John Hughes movies had to be watched. Sitting in class dreaming I’d ditch school and have a magical day like Ferris Bueller. Stealing a Ferrari catching a ball game, appreciating art at the art institute, pretending I’m Abe Froman, sausage king of Chicago, to get comped a meal at a fancy restaurant, and finishing the day dancing & singing on a float at the Irish day parade. Just getting home in the nick of time so I don’t get caught for ditching.
