acetone evaporates in seconds don't belivieve me try it on something and see how fast it dries

True that it evaporates, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing left behind. I'm not particularly picky when it comes to vape gear. I mean, I'll vape chromed brass with no qualms, but I draw the line at acetone. If soap and water isn't cleaning the kayfun then there's something really wrong.

to each there own but I will be washing every clone I buy in acetone as soon as I get them. I tried soap water vodka on the aqua 3 times and it did nada.

I hear ya, man. There's a bunch of stuff I do myself that I'd never recommend to someone else without knowing them well enough to be sure they wouldn't do something stupid and kill themselves, though. No insult meant to anyone, but I don't need to be blamed for making someone sick or ruining their gear.

Anybody try the orange "antibacterial" Ajax dish soap? I know that stuff is really good. I have a Kayfun light (maybe) on its way. I'll let you know how that works out.

To all of you about to boil away your Kayfuns: Guys, ease up on all the boiling. Step back and think about the question. Don't start boiling and soaking automatically just because other people say they do. It could easily damage your stuff for no good reason. Don't soak in acetone, for heaven's sakes- you may be replacing a non-problem with a real one.

If you think you are tasting machine oil:
a. Consider it could be a dry hit, small or large. Your wick may not be placed properly and the liquid is not feeding correctly. You may even be experiencing a short.
b. Consider that your liquid may have a 'back taste' that you've never noticed. The Kayfun brings out the full taste of a liquid. Orange or citrus tastes can taste metallic. So can others.
c. Consider that perhaps you are vaping at too high a temperature, and the machine taste is actually an overheated taste.
d. Change your drip tip and use acrylic or glass - you may simply be tasting the metal drip tip in your mouth.
e. If there is a machine oil taste, there should be a machine oil smell. Wiping the object with a tissue should bring up a trace of the oily substance. If there is none - no smell, no trace, wash gently and respectfully ONCE with a mini-brush or an old toothbrush.
f. Don't siphon used eliquid back into your object.
g. Consider too that after years of smoking, your taste buds may be off.

:)

It's definitely some kind of oil or residue that's the culprit. Widely reported with the FT Kayfuns.

Nope, not "widely" reported. Anecdotally and occasionally, perhaps. :)

I have 3, which I bought from FT and elsewhere, and none of them have had any machine oil taste whatsoever.

Also, try using a syringe or the E liquid needle tip bottle that came with it to shoot dish soap through all the airflow holes and any other tough to reach places. Let it sit for a while to let the soap work on the oil, then soak in soapy water. That worked for me to get the taste out. I'm gonna start doing this on all my FT purchases, a lot of them have the same oily taste.

Taifun GT replacement stainless steel deck and my FINAL email to Fasttech:

The replacement part arrived today. As expected, it will NOT work. I cannot get the center chimney part screwed down as the parts don't align properly. In addition, I am unable to get the deck cover on or off without pliers. I am SO disappointed. I will consider this a learning experience and I'll THINK really hard before spending ANY more money at Fasttech (Slowtech). I have thrown the Taifun GT in the garbage, I won't waste any more of my time on it or Fasttech. I will consider the $20 that I spent on this defective item as a loss, I will drop the claim with PayPal, and as I said, I will think before spending any more money with Fasttech ever again. I am SO disappointed.
You win, I'm done, NO MORE.

Got back from vacation a few days ago and didn't have anything constructive to add to the thread, so i've been lurking in the shadows :p

The only weird taste i got from my KF clones(1 from FT, 1 from ChinaBuye and 1 from Vaporbreak) is because of the included coil & wick they ship them with. Idk why but that wick tastes awful, i tried the stock coil with 2 of them and ended up recoiling them with cotton 10 minutes later.

On another note, can anyone comment anything on the FT Aqua clones? I'm pretty happy with 5 KF styled atomizers, but you never know :p

well my aqua is from 101vape but they both are selling the tobeco clone. I have no complaints on the build threads are good wobble is minable the only issue I had was the oil. Once that was taking care of it works great tons of vapor only problem is it doesn't hold enough juice. Some have had problems with juice going in air holes when using cotton but I am using 2mm silica with no problem.

guess what! for 20$ you can get kick and 4 18500 battery's @ FT use "BLF" coupon code to get 5% off on battery's.

I've got years of modding experience on phones and other mobile devices. Software and hardware. I have a hard time trusting Chinese batteries. Either don't have protection, bad cells, or not the advertised mAh. And you get different batteries with the same bunch. I trust my local B&M for some EFEST IMRs. Cheap and I know they are real. But hella thanks for the link. I think I will be ordering that Kick or 2. Badass, thanks man.

Edit: Sweet man. Not sure if a clone or back door manufacturing. But that's a Sigelei Kick. Nice. Just ordered it. Thanks again.

And just a QFT here. In case nobody saw it the first time.
