I just got my nemesis up and running today, it's been sitting here for a week. Wow it's nice the threads are super smooth. Needed some help from some pix on the FT forum. Now all I need is the kick to show up. I have 5 orders in the wind for next month but now I'm working on computer stuffs. New wireless keyboard and mouse coming. Ordered a digital spoon-far out, hope it works I'm into grams at the moment as I bake my own bread. Kitchen shears too!!! I have been happy with my purchases.

Yay!!! It's here, it's perfect except...........

Well the Caravela mod has arrived!
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1540703

This this is nice...very good finish, surprisingly short

However there is a problem:
The 510 threading is got a burr or something in it and nothing will screw down past a few threads, initial bite is strong and positive, turn it one time and it hits the burr and stops, complete bind and nothing, none of the 510 devices will screw down past this 1 thread point and I DON'T want to force anything and screw up any of my RBA's...fooey

So I have a choice:
A. Get a RMA and ship to Miami, then wait for a replacement.
B. Find a tap and die for the 510 connector and see if I can clean up the threads.

Gotta say I am a bit mixed emotions about it...I have the 18650, 18500, 18350 battery tubes...I am a kick person, not a cloud chaser, and every one of my RBA (genesis style) rigs thus far give me an excellent vape at 8.0 watts (it does take a second to warm up and get rolling but when it does, it gives an awesome vape)

I will most definitely be using the 18650 and 18500 tubes, but can't kick the 18350

The matching Caravela Genesis RBA isn't exactly matching, in fact it appears that it's an I-Atty with the Caravela etching...and appears to be 1mm thinner than the overall tube body.

All in all I like the little rig, but had the winds taken out of my sails because of the stupid burr on the 510 threading...

What would you do...send it back or fix it? I really don't want to wait again

Anyone around Houston got a 510 tap? :D

is two weeks the usual shipping now? I ordered from fasttech a while ago, and recently made a small purchase, not enough to give me tracking.

If you don't pay the dollar something to upgrade a small order, shipping is around 30 days or so. I usually buy some juice to bump me up to the tracked free shipping.

Ruh ruh. Have a Caravela clone inbound as well.

I'd send it back unless I could clean up the threads with an old carto or something. Buying and shipping a tap...if you can find one in the US, will probably cost almost as much as the mod.
Nah found one for $7 and some change free shipping...in CONUS...on amazon...wonder if they carry those at Lowes or Home Depot (doubtful its a non-standard thread pattern)

I don't think the threading burr is the norm...the threads on these are VERY clean...on the battery tubes and on the top and bottom, and even the 510 threads look very clean, the burr or whatever is so small I really can't see it, I took a tip of a needle and ran around the threads and didn't feel bumps, unless they didn't cut them concentric or something I just don't see the problem (a machinist could probably see it right off the bat)

Oh well...pulled the trigger on the 510 tap...will let you know...

Pretty happy-my MVP came in 15 days and Canada Post messing up. Good thing it came in a hard plastic case. Got pretty beat up. Not a scratch on it though. Love it!

I got a V-Life Max kit from FastTech for "Christmas" (that arrived Jan. 9 - don't get me started). It was supposed to include two 16340 cr123 batteries and a charger. Guess what? After taking 40 days to get here, NO BATTERIES included. Just a pathetic empty charger. My BF found a set of 4 UltraFire 16340 CR123A 880mAh 3.7V Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries on eBay and they are on their way. They are not listed as being for any kind of e-cig, and it doesn't say if they're protected. The listing mentions using them for digital cameras, flashlight torches, and "other electronics products." They're blue, if that helps. Can I use these, stacked, in my new mod?

Unfortunately that one's been out of stock for at least 6 months. I check once every couple of weeks. I have seen them elsewhere (though I don't remember exactly where), but they were really pricey.

In US first place I would check is Sears, Next Napa.
Bottoming tap is the only one that will make a clean cut to the bottom and the pin needs to be removed first.

I wouldn't use them period, stacked or not, in any mod. They are not high drain batteries. They will technically work, but they, and any other battery with *fire in it's name is not recommended for use in mods. There is really only five "good" brands of batteries for vaping. AW IMR, Efest, Orbtronic, Sony and Panasonic.
AW IMR 16340 3.7v 550mAh - Batteries would be my recommendation, followed by the 16340 Efest's, also on that site.

With all that being said, there are people who do use them and have no issues with them. YMMV.

...and I wouldn't trust any batteries from China, no matter what the wrapper claims the battery is.

It's been a while since I searched because I've never really needed it, only wanted to have it in case I messed up the threads on a mod, but I believe I looked at Sears first. The problem is it's a really odd size, and therefore hard to find.
