I thought I would give the Variable Voltage USB Passthrough Battery for E-Cigarette SKU 1353300 . It is non-functioning. Doesn't work at all and the cord is supper short. I would skip this item. I have opened a ticket on it and will give FT's customer service a test.

I heard somewhere itt that it's recommended to use a usb that can supply at least 2 amp. A comp usb has a max of 500ma's iirc.

Edit:

You need at least a 2 amp output to use one of these, so it will probably overload a computer or a devices USB port, I use mine with a Portapower 2 amp rated mains to USB adapter for mine "bought from Amazon", and it works fine.

A passthrough that has a battery is different than this device. This would need more power do to the fact that it doesn't have a backup source to feed off of.

Hmmmmmm well, that could be the problem, but if that is it, that is still a problem for me. I bought it because it was cheaper than getting a VV pass-through. If I have to take the time and money to get another device to make it work, then it really defeats the purpose. I still can't recommend this item unless maybe if you already have a portapower or something within 2.5 feet of your lips.

It does say it can be plugged directly into a computer so I think you are within your rights to ask for a refund if it can't run from one. Let us know how they treat you.

I picked up the below from the discussion on the FT site. I presume you have pressed it 5 times to turn it on. Lol, had to call a friend earlier today who got the Evod set and emailed me to say it was dead and tell them to do that.

"The passthrough also offers the lock out safety feature. Pressing the switch 5 times after the 4.8V setting will put the passthrough into the locked off position. Simply press the switch 5 more times to unlock the passthrough. Once unlocked it will be in the 3.0V setting."

The build quality of those passthroughs isn't particularly good either, I have had to do some repairs on mine to fix a loose connection, otherwise it works fine with my 2A (2000mAh) output.

I would take FastTech's description as being able to run it from your computers USB port with a pinch of salt, most reputable vendors warn you of its power requirements.

Thanks, I think I will take it off my wishlist for now.

I've pushed the button enough times to start worrying about wearing the button out :) It could just be a dud. At $7 and change, I'm sure they get a dud every now and again. It would be sweet if I can get it to work. The cord length is an issue but that is on me as it is what they say it is. I just didn't think about how short that really is in practical use.

OK..just so i understand. . Only one main FT thread? Post sku numbers instead of direct links? Ignore the trolls.. any other hoops to jump through to keep this thread open? Lol

Links are more useful to people in my opinion. I don't think people will stop posting them nor should they, this thread is here to discuss products and help each other avoid the crappier ones.

I understand people don't want lots of FastTech threads clogging up the front page so one FT thread is a good idea.

Report trolls and people who don't want to discuss the products and just derail the thread, debating them just ends up with the thread closed by the moderators.

Broke the seal on what, the mod or the atty, I'm confused. I am going to get that adapter though cause I don't think the T3s are making contact. Gully said maybe the pos terminal post is pushed down but I'm afraid to pull it up, it's brand new. I already have a ticket started for the vivi nova that came doa.

VAMO

Read the model specific forums before you use a product (or buy a product IMO). Look for problems and the fixes for problems/ways to avoid the problems.
