Simple attys will stand the test of time. O-rings are easily sourced. If desperate a piece of ultem insulator can be machined by a local machine shop, just be sure to keep at least one pristine insulatorfor the shop to copy.

Now y'all got me worried. What if my vaping style changes in the next few years, should I stock up on all different types of RDAs, so I can accommodate? I still haven't even tried all the ones in my prefers style that I want to. Will an RDA last a lifetime? Or will the insulation go out eventually. O rings are easy enough to replace, but high temp, custom shaped, plastic? Argh... Why did I take so long to start vaping...
Buy lots of cheap RDA's. It's a pretty basic device. Many good ones to be had cheap. Try VaporRange--he still has some asMODus Galatek's (for professional vapers only) for $9.

Look around, buy a few in different styles. That's what I'm doing.

Wow. Not even Velveeta cheese lasts five years!

    Sure it does :)

I buy flavorings from lots of vendors but my go to ones are Gremlin and Nicvapes. Friday sales at Gremlin and I like most of the Nicvape flavorings (not sure if they are rebottled or their own line). They run 50% off sales frequently and I really like their bottle lots.

Yeah, I've been picking up a clone here or there, kinda wish there was an atty of the month club, or better yet, a 36 of the best attys sampler.

Stop. Don’t work yourself in a frenzy. There is time. The worst thing you could do is take the advice from everyone on this forum. Your head will explode. Find a person or two or three that you feel can help you with gear and methodically work thru it. You’ll find gear you like and it will last you a long while. Work with them thru private message.

    You’ll be fine. :)

A decent RDA or RTA should last a very long time if not a lifetime.

Also strongly consider buying spare parts for them (insulators and the like).

There you go HigherState. PM ShowMeTwice for his gear prowess. I know him and he’ll steer you right. And he’s a nice guy and. I know he would be happy to help you. PM me too if you want. There are your two people you can work with on the side to get you to a happy place. And if you think I’m a chump then find someone who isn’t a chump. Narrow it down.

Thank you. IYO, is there a noticeable difference in flavor impact from one vendor to another? Or are today’s PGs and VGs pretty flavorless?

I realize these products will likely avoid restrictions but I need to experiment with recipes and is why I ask about them now. However, it doesn’t hurt to remind people.

I use both and find them both very good. I’ve gotten Essential Depot from Amazon because free shipping, or bulk apothecary when they have a sale.

I get a gallon of each and keep them in a closet. No special storage required.

TBH, I've only ever used Essential Depot and early on, some smaller bottles that I ordered from nic vendors at the same time as nic.
Oh, and does PG n VG have a shelf life?
Quoted shelf life is generally on the order of two years.

I also bought PG and VG in 4 gallon "cubes" some years back and have not detected any degradation.

I believe the most likely thing to hurt an RDA (specifically the insulator) is excessive heat when dry-burning a coil. I keep my dry burns short and suck heat out of coil and atty with a damp paper towel as soon as I release fire button.

I also think quality matters. Grub screws are easy enough to replace, but the posts (or other atty parts) that they screw into, not so much. So buy quality and don't be a gorilla when tightening the screws.

I've got RDAs that have been in service for 3-4 years now. No problems.

The WTA makers are too small to have any prayer of filing a PMTA. If I were you, I'd stock up on the stuff.

I found WTA very helpful early on, and still enjoy a bit of it here and there, but I doubt I'll ever go through the couple of hundred ml of 24 and 36 mg that I have squirreled away, and a lack of it wouldn't have me reverting to smoking at this point anyway.
I use a lot when I'm stressed but then I need much less nic concentration. I build 10 mg or 12 mg for low power devices. Don't use it all the time but when I'm desperate for a smoke.

I'd imagine that dry burning at insane temps, and gorilla arming the atty down to the mod and over torquing the grub screws are big no-nos, and I'd imagine some wear on the insulation happens no matter how gentle. Are insulators purchasable seperatly? Or, unless we're talking about a high end atty would it just make sense to buy a backup or 3?

I have so much hardware already, I have a lifetime supply if it holds up ok.

Since Fasttech already ships with customs form that says "metal pipe" I would guess they will still ship stuff with that label on it. So you would take a chance losing it but probably wouldn't.

I have plenty of Nicotine which is all I am worried about anyway

@HigherStateD , I agree with Bronze, if you need help PM me and/or Bronze and we will help you.

IMO there is plenty of time for everyone to reach a comfort zone with acquiring gear/supplies.

This is much like disaster planning for business though on a much smaller scale. I spent a good portion of my life creating and executing disaster recovery plans for large corporations. Having a plan is your key to success.

    * Check your current stash.

    * Determine where you are lacking. Or where you may need additional backups. Obviously if you have a favorite atty(s) or mod(s) grab more of those. Don't forget to buy spare parts for your atty's. Just about every quality atty maker sells spares. FT has spares for many of the clones.

    * Make a detailed list of what you need. There are many folks here who always know where deals can be found. @JCinFLA and @Electrodave immediately come to mind. There are many others. Pop in the Shiny or Low Budget Shiny threads and ask.

    * What is your priority? Address those items first. For those who don't have nic that should be at or near the top of your list (as Rossum already stated).

    * IMO everyone should consider grabbing some mechs. They are not difficult to use and with proper maintenance they will last. Mech's are safe provided obvious safety precautions are followed. And you make the time to learn/follow those. There are many people here with tons of mech knowledge and expertise who would likely help.

Collectively, at ECF, we do have great deal of knowledge to share. ECF rocks!!! :headbang:

Yes, you can purchase insulators separately for some RDA's and RTA's. Depends on what atty. FT has many spare parts for a host of atty's. Scoop up clones. FT has tons of spares for those.

Maybe it's finally time to pull the trigger on that Dicodes mod. My problem will be deciding which model I like best. :hubba:

...and I've been thinking of adding at least one more Reo to the squonker collection...

Couldn't hurt to get a little more nic either, but that will have to wait until cooler weather....

...hmmm...I'm going to have to check in on the shinyitis thread again...my wallet's starting to itch...:D

This person has an insane sale on mechs going on:
Items for sale by luti_lem_atlzf9 | eBay
The first round included some awesome stuff, and I was really skeptical. I ordered a Manhattan mod from them for $10 plus shipping. I got what very much appears to be a non working authentic. All of what they have now are good clones, mostly SteamGear. I also ordered Penny and Shotgun clones that were really good. So now I ordered a Four Nine and a Hades. No returns! But I haven't needed to.

There's quite a few of us international vapers who may be affected by this. My main concern is quality 100mg nicotine base.

New Zealand already supplys a large number of vapers in Australia with nicotine - due to the restrictions in parts of Australia preventing the sale of nicotine ejuice. Thankfully, the NZ government is showing no signs of restricting vaping, nicotine ejuice or vape gear - other than targeting under age vaping.

And the majority of nicotine in NZ is bought from the USA - hence we will have a problem
