I'm sure there are better videos,,
Thank you! I need to save this pic then go look at my mech's to figure out what I haveThe positive pin of a Hybrid Atty touches the battery directly. A traditional mech, the atty screws into a 510 connector and the 510 connector makes contact with the battery. A hybrid setup can short out if the positive pin of the atty is too short and the threaded part of the atty (the negative side of the connection) touches the positive on the battery. Here's two pictures, they're kind of big but the printing is small so I didn't size them down.

Here's the EHpro Nemesis and it looks it has an adjustable pin instead of the hybrid set up.
I've never used anything but flat-tops in any mod.So now that button tops are hard to find, does everyone use flat tops in their mech's?

Yes, of course. In addition to the method Fran mentioned, this link might work.Rossum - this may be a dumb question, but is it possible for me to send you a message without posting it to the entire ECF community? Can't seem to find how/where to do this.

Thanks, I need some for my older Provari's, otherwise everything else I have takes flat topsI've never used anything but flat-tops in any mod.
If you need button tops, you can get a large selection of them from 18650BatteryStore.
Orbtronic also has quite a few, although I'm not thrilled with the fact that they re-wrap them and put somewhat optimistic current ratings on them. (Search for 'button' on that page, there's half a dozen or so).
Yes I am afraid of using a full mech without kicks or some other safety inserts. Just makes me nervous about shorts.I have 2 very similar to this one,, forget its name,, first mechs I bought,, it had good reviews,, but I was always afraid to go full mech lol,,, they are in my emergency stash with another 1 I bought,, then there is the Reo P67 thats one the way.
I also have a few kicks
RTD Vapor still carries the AW brand, which is what I still use in my old (but trusty and much loved) Provari's. I buy their 18490's and RTD is a great vendor and very responsive. Thanks, I need some for my older Provari's, otherwise everything else I have takes flat tops![]()
AW has been out of business for years. When's the last time you bought AW's from RTD?RTD Vapor still carries the AW brand, which is what I still use in my old (but trusty and much loved) Provari's. I buy their 18490's and RTD is a great vendor and very responsive.
REOs are well-protected against shorts to begin with by the hot-spring at the base of the battery. That spring will collapse if you have a short. It's like a fuse. Make sure you have a few spares. What do folks use in REOs to guard against possible shorts? It says here that...
" REO Grand (modifications required: please check with device manufacturer for further details.)". Anyone know what mods those are and are they needed with the P67 too?
