In your nightmares
Only three wires need to be soldered to the board. Certain safety precautions need to be taken because of the battery, but it really is a simple build. There may be vids already, but if not, and if you are serious, PM me and I will take a series of photos on building one.

Also, there is a way to make it use a single 18650 instead of the included Lipo. A little more complicated to build, but some folks get eeeky about Lipos.
Mike if you do the pictures can you pm them to me also please. I am interested in putting a mod together.

Here in Michigan the popular smokable herb was legalized for recreational use by voter referendum last year. I don't follow things closely but I'm not aware of whether retail locations for that purpose exist yet. Retail locations for medical use exist already. I believe they sell vape gear for use with liquifiied versions of their product. My understanding is that the FDA does not have authority to ban vape hardware intended for that purpose. If that's correct then vape gear may be available in those non tobacco retail locations here in Michigan?

I found a YT video where Dimetri (aka vaping greek) and Matt from SMM are discussing the FDA. I would call them semi-insiders, better informed than most of us. Near the end of the discussion (skip to 1:21:50) Dimetri says he believes 'DIY nicotinne will never go away'. He didn't elaborate or defend that opinion and I won't be relying on his prediction, 90% of my stash is in place, but he might be right.
.

They'll probably make it where u have to have a prescription from a doc to get device etc. jus' say for medical purposes only like a medication or a controlled substance !

My ideal resistance is 1.2 ohms, and I vape at 8.5W. I need to read more to see if that would work with those safety fuses (or you could tell me?). I saw some with higher amp ratings, but they were a good deal more expensive. I'll keep looking.

1.2 ohms is what I use. Don't remember the numbers but when I first got the Holocrons I checked into it and did the calculations. 1.2 ohm coils were well inside the operating range of the fuse.

Not sure if I ever tripped one. The only time I had a problem the hot spring collapsed and I don't know if the fuse went too. I did read that the fuse was supposed to save the spring but I guess there's a lot of unknowns.

Got plans for this weekend, but next weekend I will do pictorial and post it.

@Rossum would you want it here, or in a separate thread?

I think a separate thread would be better, but by all means, post a link to it in this thread.

That works great. @JoeyC got me off the hook. I wasn't going to ask you to do the pics unless I was absolutely certain to do the project. Truth is, I probably can't on my own. I have a fairly severe hand tremor when trying to do things that require fine motor skills, especially in my dominant right hand. At times it takes me 20-30 minutes just to get coil legs wrapped around the posts of an atty and the post screw tightened. Luckily, I'm stubborn and stay at it until it's done.

It is possible I could find someone to do the soldering for me, though. Not sure who, but it doesn't feel like it should be too difficult.

She has a habit of letting them all go bat-dead or dry and just grabbing the next one.
Do your husband duties -- charge and fill her mods! :D

If my wife were a vaper, I'm near certain she would expect me to do that.

I have to give kudos to ejuices.com. The Zenith and Zlide tanks I ordered on Tuesday arrived this morning, well packaged and great prices for them. Can't beat that for service.
Is there a special deal there, rose? The Zenith prices didn't blow me away, but I haven't really looked too closely at other sites.

I paid less than $10 for Zlides and about $14 for Zenith 22mm version.

Thank you very much. I'd probably go for the 22mm Zenith just because the 2ml on the Zlide bugs me a little bit. Still, less than $10 makes it very tempting. (I've been talking about being tempted by the Zenith/Zlides for about a month now. I probably should just buy some or shut up about them). I'm just hesitant to start buying a new brand of drop-in coils. I can sorta justify it with the fact that building RTAs could become more difficult as time goes on. It's not easy now.

My stuff arrived today, too: Zenith coils, one Zlide, and two Solos.

I started with Zeniths but have retired them since I started building. I have a huge stockpile of tanks and coils for when I don't trust myself to build anymore.

I'd go with the Zenith, if I were you. I bought a Zlide from ejuices.com so I could finally compare the two, but by all accounts if it's an improvement on the Zenith, it's only slightly. For me, its only virtue is the ability to replace the glass, but the tank in both the Zlide and the Zenith is protected by a metal cage, so it would take some doing to break it, I think. The Zenith is easier to fill than the Zlide if you stick with the proprietary drip tip on the latter, and its juice capacity is greater.

I plan to try out the Zlide soon. It'll be interesting to see what I think of it after using RTAs. I suspect I'll end up dreading even more the day when I can no longer build.

I placed my order about 2AM Tuesday morning (before I posted about the sale here on page 15), and I got my packages yesterday about noon. They are really on the ball with getting shipments out.

ETA: I've learned the hard way in the past, that if I'd like something that's on sale, I need to order it before I post about the sale on ECF. Otherwise, it'll likely be gone before I even get an order placed. ;)

I also like to wait until noon or later to post about a really good sale. Then the West Coast people (who are 3 hours earlier than my time) will have a chance to buy things, too, before we East Coast people snap them up. :D
