LOL! +1!

It's always amusing to me how different our tastes are, i.e., to each their own. I can barely taste the cinnamon anymore, and it is certainly much, much lighter than any of the other TFA cinnamon's, more nuanced than overwhelming.

That was the first thing i thought after reading that.I have never really gotten even a fairly strong cinnamon out of it,more like a very faint just enough to know it's there taste,but like you say everyone is different,and then you add in all the different styles of equipment so even the same person can get different results if using different tanks,etc.I haven't made the cinnamon danish juice in quite a long time,but the last few days i have been getting a craving for it,and i want it to have a bit more cinnamon,so i'm going to add maybe .5% cinnamon spice to it.

Well Nic-holio, I read your post on transferring everything to glass, and figured I may as well do it to be on the safe side. I ran out of glass bottles before I ran out of TFA 4oz plastic bottles, but I'm off to a good start. I love the labels that TFA uses. They are pretty easy to peel off and reuse. I used TFA labels on the 4oz, and my label maker for the 15ml bottles. I like the 15ml bottles for mixing. Plenty enough for any recipe I want to make, but small enough to work with. THANKS NIC. Time to make another glass bottle order lol

So got my BCV order in!
They only had 1/3 the flavors I wanted, got the rest at WL. (WL shipped today, 2 days from order)
The nic is perfectly clear.
Got 120ml 100mg. (eta 100% PG)
Dilluted (eta: PG) to (1) 60ml 50mg (2) 30ml 50mg and put that with (1) 60ml 100mg in the freezer.
Kept (1) of the 30ml 50mg to work with.
Don't have many flavors to work with to start.

First thougths:
-vanilla swirl smells fantastic!
- Western strong and acidic
- Turkish medium and a tad floral
- DK fruity
- DX bavarian cream smells like what must be Butyric Acid
- DX Hazelnut smells great
- Toasted Almond seems weak

So first mix (ever!) I'm gonna try:

DK VSH (VanillaSwirl/Hazelnut) 60/40 PG/VG 12mg nic
starting %

DK 5%
DX Hazelnut 5%
Vanilla Swirl 3%
Sweetner 1%

Yes, the smell of the DX Bavarian isn't terribly appealing, but used at 6.25% or less with other flavors, it's very tasty. Really *makes* my strawberries and cream recipe, though I also use vanilla swirl and CAP sweet cream in that. It's the DX Bavarian that really makes it stand out.

That's what I'm talkin about!

Being organized like you makes it an easy task to gather up your flavors for a mix.
I used to keep mine in a tackle box and it was impossible to keep in order. Used to take me like 20 minutes just to locate about 10 flavors for two recipes.
Now, those same 10 flavors can be picked out in about 30 seconds. It would be faster if my old eyes would hold focus longer :)

It's funny that you would post this,i just did the exact same thing last night.Transferred to the same brown bottles,and did the same with the labels,i figure that way they still look professional haha.I am still waiting for my label prinetr,i have a few 4oz. bottles i got from Bull city,and they don't use those nice vinyl labels like tfa does,so i'll use the label printer to make the labels for those.Although your's is alot more organized than mine,i have to keep all mine in a toolbox,due to not having anywhere that i can leave them set up like that.

I just noticed that one with the capella label,did you peel that one,or did you get that already in glass?I tried to peel the one capella label i have and it kept on tearing.

The capella label is a 4oz label I got from BCV I think. I was having trouble finding vanilla custard original and when I stumbled across it, I went ahead and bought two bottles. That's a 240ml bottle it's in. If you notice on the bottom left hand corner, it is torn. It's a paper label, not vinyl like TFA. Was just very careful when peeling it and only tore a corner

Got in to DIY just over a month ago and I'm loving it. Finally finished reading this entire thread and all I can say is...I feel like a true flavor apprentice!

Bill, thanks so much. Can't stress it enough. I wish you were selling something because I feel the need to re-pay you in some way for the knowledge. Ever thought of writing a book? Since I got into DIY I have noticed a conspicuous absence of actual knowledge-sharing on the web regarding juice making. Most shared recipes have no methodology, and there is little emphasis on evaluating flavor. It is unlike any other hobby in terms of lack of cooperation. As you've said before, I assume this must be because virtually anyone who has cracked the code turns it into a business and keeps what they've learned a secret. That 1000%+ profit margin is just too irresistible I suppose. So, I'm truly grateful that you (and others) have shared your knowledge here!

Just put in a couple orders for just over 50 TFA flavors. Ha! Can't wait!!

My first big flavor order was lacking any vanillas, creams and caramels :facepalm: Since then I've been frustratingly vaping away at perfumey fruits, chocolates, tobaccos, and coffees. The coffees are all going in the trash, I think. Even the most hyped ones seem to taste like the bottom of a dirty rubber boot sole to me. I know taste is subjective but ewwwww....I don't like cream in my coffee, I want that black espresso taste, so hard to imagine they'll ever be salvageable.

My first batches will be dutch apple pie, cinnamon danish, monkey business, a bubbleburst of some sort, Jo's peach cobbler, pralines & cream, and some RY4's like Brandon's choice and vanilla nut crunch.

Also, belatedly, I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Cheers and thanks again :toast:

Many thanks! By the way, keep those coffees. They make helpful additions to certain chocolates, that you can't get to the right flavoring without them. Good luck in your new DIY Journey! :toast: :D

What fun tasting/mixing my new DIY!

Initial comments: (non-steeped, flavor and 5ml mix testing)

The tobaccos are strong, for me need a light touch:
-Western: closest to an analog tobacco, pretty good and smooth. 4% tops.
-Turkish: not too bad, a bit fruity. ~2%-3% max.
-DK: super fruity/floral. 5% was unbearable. 1% - if that.

-DX Hazelnut: seems a bit 'DX'y, 4% min, ~8% better.
-Toasted Almond: better as a small highlight

-Vanilla Swirl: pretty good vanilla. 4%-5% easy.
-DX Bavarian Cream: a bit 'DX'y also. 1% for highlight.
I'm really glad I have Vanillin coming, really like vanilla and thinking this will be my goto.

-Sweetner: really sweet. 1 drop/5ml plenty.
-Cotton Candy: funky sweet. 1 drop/10ml plenty for me.

So I have 8 5ml to steep/check back on.
Other 66% of flavors coming early next week.

Gonna be glad to get the DXCarmel, RY4Dbl, Blueberry Extra/Wild.

Yeah,that's how mine is,i tried pulling it off,but it would tear after just a little bit so i gave up on that one haha.

Bill, I'd mixed up a 30mL batch of your Cinnamon Danish (your ADV). WOO-WEE - that cinnamon is intense! Went through a couple tanks and was trying to decide how to tone it down a bit for my pallet.

Finally threw in about 2mL of (some other vendor's) Forest Fruit and topped off with some VG. Ahhhhhh, that's a better balance for me :)

Kaezziel - mixed up your peaches & cream. That's delightful! BBMom, did your Butterscotch Swirl. I used a different butterscotch (no TFA on hand). Other than for that brand, I need to up the butterscotch of that type, yours is WONDERFUL. I love the tone that the graham cracker lends to it.

Thank you all :)

I may not be very creative with my own unique mixes, but from what I learn here, I get an idea of how to properly tweak something to make it work for me. You guys and gals ROCK!!!

I also found Bill's Cinnamon Danish to have a little too much Cinnamon for me when using it in my dripper at .3 ohms.
What I did was add 0.5% butter to it and it calmed down the cinnamon just the right amount for me. Any more that that amount of butter will kill too much of the cinnamon.

I dug into my "steeping box" yesterday and found this one that's been steeping 3 weeks. It is great! This is the best DIY juice I have made yet (in my limited experience). I got the recipe from another thread here in the forums posted by buddyz.

Here is is:

Hazelnut Cream (original recipe posted by buddyz)
TPA - Marshmallow 7%
TPA - Hazelnut 5%
TPA - Cotton Candy 3%
TPA - Caramel Candy 3%
TPA - Dulce de Leche 2%

(buddyz had originally listed ethyl maltol where I have listed cotton candy.)

It's a really nice creamy and sweet hazelnut flavor. I'm loving it.

LOL! Great minds think alike :) Guess what I mixed for the first time yesterday... :) I have been wanting to to try this. It's really good. (I used the Cinnamon Danish DX I got in my last order)

Good morning guys, I am dropping in to thank all of you for the feedback recently on butterscotch swirl, makes me feel happy that some have enjoyed it, and if you sub or adjust %'s it gives me inspiration and ideas for other mixes/flavors that may even work better, I love collaborating with others to make good juices, thank you, your input and feedback is much appreciated.

Just whipped up Caramel Candy Apple, Cream Fantastico and Mango Custard. Needed some fruity vapes - made a lot of chocolates recently (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the chocolate custard!)

I have regular Mango and Sweet Mango. I went with the sweet, but it seems like it's gotten cloudy since I purchased. Haven't tasted yet (working on the caramel candy apple - yum)

DarthEmma, I'm snagging your Hazelnut cream. That looks awesome :)

I'm thinking about some sort of tropical/fruity concoction. Haven't decided where to start yet, but I'm thinking
* Pineapple (4-6%)
* Mango (4-6%)
* Orange (I have tangerine, so I'm going that route 4-6%)
* Some kind of vanilla (maybe vanilla swirl/sweet cream/ and/or bavarian cream at 3-5%)
* Touch of sweetener
* Koolada (1-2%)

Damn, Guess I'd better go 100DT now :D

ETA: Final Mix - Mary's Mango Madness :D

* Pineapple 4%
* Mango 6%
* Tangerine 6%
* Bavarian Cream 3%
* Vanilla Swirl 3%
* Sweet Cream 3%
* Sweetener 2%
* Koolada 1%

The fruit is light, but needed to tone down the pineapple - that's overwhelming a bit. Next round may up the Mango and Tangerine, but for a light, fruity vape, I'm not displeased

Lot of fruit options here. I have a couple of tropical recipes:

Flamingo

Juicy Peach - 7%
Coconut - 3%
Sweetener - 2%

Tropical Paradise

Pineapple - 7%
Coconut - 6%
Bavarian Cream - 6%
Dulce de Leche - 2%
Sweetener - 2%

Lots of possibilities. I call this one Cool Breeze, and it is also reminiscent of a walk down a tropical beach to me:

Cool Breeze

Watermelon - 9%
Blueberry - 7%
Menthol - 4%
Raspberry - 4%
Lemon Lime - 2%
Koolada - 2%
Cotton Candy - 2%

And, of course, a custard:

Mango Custard

Mango 11%
Cotton Candy 7%
Vanilla Custard 6%
Bavarian Cream 6%

So, just sharing a couple of ideas with you. Let us know a final recipe please! :toast: :D

I do have those in my "Bible" of mixes. I was jonesing some pineapple/orange juice (love the actual drink) and thought I'd "pull a Bill" and throw some creams and sweetener in. I think you were responding as I was editing my original post.... It's very light (which is fine for now), but I will be upping the Mango and Tangerine at another time :)
