I actually had time to sit down and mix a few up today.Made a sample batch of Andria's strawberries & cream, haven't tasted it yet,but smells amazing, also made up a batch of Bill's lemonade recipe, same deal haven't tried it yet,but it smells exactly like lemonade haha. Then,i had a nostalgia moment, and had to make a few that were adv for me at some point since i started vaping, but haven't had either in quite a long time.First was Bill's cinnamon danish,i vaped so much of this back about 6 months ago,i probably went through 400ml or more before i moved to other flavors haha, and the other is the rwhy4 recipe posted in the recipe section.I have a deep connection with that juice,as it was the first juice i tried that i really liked, and it was the one that kept me from going back to cigarettes.I first tried rwhy4 almost a year ago,and i probably went through nearly 600-700ml while i tried out other mixes, but kept going back to it.I love trying new stuff, but these 2 have been the ones i have liked the most, and haven't had either in several months,so it was definitely time for a blast from the past haha.

I think I need to give the RY4 types another chance; I didn't like them at all, at first, they were far too sweet to my palate, but now I actually prefer a much sweeter taste, if I vape anything remotely tobacco-ish. Any recipe suggestions, for something likethis? -- something maybe faintly tobacco-ish, but sweet and soft on the palate? At first, this type tasted like pipe tobacco to me, which wasn't at all what I was looking for to replace Virginia Slims -- which I now know are rather bitter; after tasting some of the Pipe Sauce juices, I find I like that "pipe tobacco" sort of taste a lot better than I did when I was a still a cigarette smoker.

Gosh... everytime I realize that I'm no longer a cigarette smoker, I just stop in awe and wonder. E-cigs are truly miraculous.

Best wishes and prayers for your fam AndriaD!

So I finally got serious about doing the 100dt(100droptest) after mostly just following Bill's and others shared recipes. I received 3 dozen glass eye droppers this week and also an order of 100 1ml syringes. Well I was disappointed with the droppers because the tip of the droppers were not consistent in size. I know I could have just picked out the 4 or 5 noticeable bad ones from each dozen and still been ok but I'm too geeky. So I decided to chop the top off 10 syringes and use the rubber squeezer part from the droppers and wallah - droppers with graduation!

After testing the different viscosity of the flavorings they average out to 10 drops per .1ml or 100 drops per milliliter. Now armed with this method I can make whatever size sample I want using the ejuicemeup calculator. I decided to make 2ml samples and did not use the droppers for my VG and nic, I measured those with a normal syringe and just used the droppers for the flavorings. I'm not even really sure why I'm sharing all this but I guess its just the lead in to my first from scratch ejuice that I made using Bill's 100dt! I am so surprised how well this tasted ATM(atthetimeofmixing) today and am excited to tweek it a little and also see what its like steeped for a couple days or a week.

I was going for vanilla custard but not sure that's what I'm gonna call it when I'm finished. Its custard/caramel/buttersctoch/toffeeish and I'm really happy with this type of flavor - just need to see which it most closely resembles when its "done". Here it is if anyone wants to try it.

Easy for cut and pasters (like me:))

bavarian cream - 8%
vanilla bourbon - 5%
toasted marshmallow - 4%
caramel original - 3%
waffle belgian - 3%
english toffee - 2%
sweetener - 2%

I have never liked alot of the ry4 type recipes i have tried, but the rwhy4 recipe posted by tc1 is fantastic. It's got a bit of tobacco taste and a bit of sweetness, but neither are overwhelming.I used this as my adv for several months before moving on to other juices, but after making another batch today, and filling a tank with it,i can say without a doubt it will remain inmy rotation now,it is very good stuff. It calls for regular bavarian cream, but since you use the dx,i'm sure it will sub in just fine. Here is the original recipe as posted by tc1

10% Double RY4
5% Caramel Candy
5% Bavarian Cream

The same member also posted another version,i have not tried this one yet,but definitely plan to,i think this one will be a bit sweeter. This one is called scutch-rwhy4 reloaded, and is also by tc1

7% Double RY4
3% Butterscotch (some may want to adjust this lower)
3% Pistachio
3% Vanilla Swirl
2% Bavarian Cream
2% Caramel Candy
(Use Toasted Almond instead of Pistachio for a completely different flavor)

Did a bunch of searching for FTA Acai and did not come up with much as far as recipes are concerned. Anyway I mixed it up straight at 10%. I like stronger flavor but on this one I would plan on maybe 7% next time. Very flavorful and I really like it. I have not experimented enough to take it to the next level with additional flavors.

I use Acai alone at 5% and quite like it.

It goes well with the Grape Juice flavoring, IMO. It's a simple recipe, yet I love it just the way it is.
Grape Juice 8%
Acai 3%
Sweetener to taste(I don't use any, family members like 1% sweetener)

Early on I was mixing the Acai with Black Currant and Pomegranate at varying ratios. I came up with a couple of interesting combos from that, I just never finished them.

Prayers for you and yours, Andria. A cardiac took my father 3 days after my 30th birthday. The fact that he is still fighting is extremely good news.

Thanks... yes, he's hanging in there. The doctor said his heart is very strong, it's just the blood vessels leading to it that are blocked, 3 of them anyway. So he's for open heart surgery early this week. My husband said his color is much better; he's eating well and feeling a lot better for the couple days rest and medication. Considering that the bypass surgeries have become commonplace, he should do fine; he's very disciplined about rehab; he's had 2 replacement hips, and has no problems with them at all. Guess there are all sorts of future unforeseen benefits from developing the discipline of an athlete -- he was being scouted by minor league baseball when he was a Sr in high school, but then injured his shoulder too severely to remain a great pitcher, so for many years he played 3rd base in the church league.

So after three weeks of straight mixing everyday for at least two hours a day Ive come up with several good recipes, 11 different ADV's. However I have a serious hankering for a good mango vape... Does anyone have any good TFA recipes with Mango as the primary taste? (Ive heard its not great as a standalone) Also anyone got any feelings on whether the Phillipine Mango is any better?

Any chance you are willing to share your recipes with us? :)

I family friend who lives out in PA switched to vaping but was complaining that the juice they were buying had no flavor. Well the wife told them i was into DIY and if they told us what they like I could send them some juices. After a few more calls I ended up sending them 8 bottles to try. Last night I got the final report back on the last juice they tried and everyone of them was better than anything they had purchased. This was only possible because of the information shared by others DIY'ers! :toast:

So very true. I started DIYing for many reasons; wish to avoid diketones; odd nic and PG/VG requirements; need to add WTA; and of course saving money. But after creating just 2 unique recipes, I have zero interest in buying pre-made ejuice; the 2 I've created are better than ANYTHING I've ever bought. And maybe it's just BECAUSE of the high flavor mix technique; most pre-made ejuice tastes bland, nearly tasteless to me, but with my own, POW! massive flavor.

+1! goodpost.gif yesss.gif

Great job, Dave! This is such a rewarding hobby in so many ways, including our ability to help so many others. I keep sample packs around bottled and boxed for those same kind of moments with about 20 juices for my friends and family to try. Like others have mentioned, I started DIY'ing to make vapable juice, reduce costs, save money, save time, add a hobby, increase my diketones, create my own ADV, match my juice to my gear, coils, wicks, heat and air flow, and to learn about flavoring. After six months without any help or ECF, I began to crack the DIY code. Within another six months, I was making good juice on a consistent basis, using HFM and 100DT, ignoring steeping and vaping ATM. While there are as many ways to make juice and flavors as there are people, I finally settled on what worked best for me, and I've never looked back. Been on ECF a couple of years now, heavy on DIY for a year, heavy on hardware the year before, and began vaping in 2009, on and off until 2012, when I adopted vaping full time. So many rewards along the way. Try to PIF with gear and juice. Probably saved my life and my wife's life as well. Thank you ECF, fellow members, and the Vape gods! :toast: :D

I can attest to that statement,i tried the strawberries and cream last night,Pow is what i got,it smacked me so hard i almost fell over haha. That and the cappucino are both very good. The cappucino is getting alot better after sitting a few days, that heavy chocolate i was getting is now mellowing and the others are coming through, good stuff right there.

Man, that is the truth about that strawberry recipe; I had just about become resigned to vaping always being a really nice smell and very little taste, until I made that, and tasted it the first time. That cured me of pre-made ejuice! I was stunned that so much flavor was possible! So they can make fun of my frequent re-wicking as much as they like; I'll be happily vaping my massive flavor machine (my strawberries and cream in a kayfun or magma!). :)

My mom had some strawberry donut holes a few weeks ago; I took a bite and nearly spit it out -- my vape has more real strawberry flavor than that crap did! :D

Andria

PS: I mentioned that I've gotten fairly un-fond of tobacco flavors; as good as that "Smocha" is, for me it's great for about 5 hits after a meal -- then I don't like it anymore, and switch back to the strawberry. :D But for post-meal vaping, that Smocha really hits the spot! :thumb:
