oh ok. I just used the search box for Lemon and it came up
I hadn't heard of California lemon so i just went to their site, and don't see it listed in the flavor section,so i searched it,and i dont think that one is a flavor.I think that is a perfume fragrance,as it mentions in the description as using at up to 10% in the fragrance.

Yeah, that's what i did too, they should fix it,because i even went into the flavor section then searched it,and it still came up.Someone could easily buy the wrong thing and end up with a fragrance instead of a flavor, but i did notice if you search a name like lemon,if it's a flavor it will say lemon flavor or lemon lime flavor, etc. if it doesn't say flavor at the end, then it's most likely a perfume additive.

Hey Hey Hey

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone, just really starting to DIY and am so happy to have found this thread.

What have I learned so far? Well I just upgraded my account at TFA so now I can order the larger sizes so inexpensively, I'm stoked!

Great thread by the way, is there a list of favorite flavors / mixes somewhere in here?

Favorites would Prolly be the necessities. Vanillas/creams/sweeteners. These will be used with every mix you make.

I did order the DX Bavarian Cream and Vanilla Swirl, although I didn't realize they were such key ingredients. I guess I'll need some bigger bottles. Thx for the tip

A suggested starting list for new DIY'ers:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...entice-flavoring-thread-basic-flavorings.html

Here's some starter recipes from my own collection:

Here's a guide for average flavor percentages in your mixes:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...t-juice-average-flavoring-percentages-me.html

As you can see, YES, you will use vanillas, creams and sweeteners in most all of your mixes to enhance the flavorings and super-charge the primaries. Single flavor mixes don't work 95% of the time. Good luck in your new DIY journey! :toast: :D

Ask lots of questions. Folks here very generous in sharing their hard earned DIY lessons! :thumb:

I received my order of a whole lot of TFA concentrates today so I went ahead and made three of Bill's recipes - Lemon Meringue Pie, Dutch Apple Pie and the Coconut Cream Pie. I tested them all after a couple of hot water baths. Man the Lemon Meringue is to die for already!! Brilliant. The other two, particularly the Dutch Apple Pie do need some steeping I think to develop their full flavour, but all are very good.

Question for Bill please - do you do part of the steeping with the bottle open? The Dutch Apple Pie seems to need that. And will they be good to go in three or four days?

The key to getting the juice ready to vape for me is to prepare the juice in a wide mouth container. I use both beakers and wide mouth re-agent bottles. I stir for 30 - 60 seconds and allow to sit open to air until the bubbles/micro bubbles are all gone. This usually takes about two hours. Many mixes are ready to vape right then. Others take about 24 hours to be good to vape. High Flavor Mixes do not require many days or weeks to steep. Generally, they are all ready to vape the next day. They will improve slightly after this period, but I would say that 95 - 98% of final flavoring is there after 24 hours. Juice does improve with age, but high flavor mixes don't require long steep times to be ready to vape. All juices benefit from steeping, some just require a whole lot less than others. Most of my recipes are made to be vaped within 24 hours. Many factors affect this including temperature, light, ingredients, PG/VG ratio, percentage of nicotine, etc. They are all factors. But I make juices that I like immediately. Once I like them immediately, I stop mixing and shake and vape, or, sometimes, wait and vape the following day. I have juices that I made months ago. They are rich and wonderful. But, are they way better? Not to me. They are better, but there's very little difference because of the high flavor percentages. Remember to add a couple of drops of citric acid solution (10%) to the mix. This will stop the juices from making dramatic changes, occasionally for the worse. I mix to vape immediately, so I don't require "aging" or "steeping" to allow the juice to mature. Low Flavor mixes require steeping in order for the flavors to emerge.

Also, I vape at around 11 or 12 watts, so if you're using a great deal more heat, the flavors are going to be changed from how I prepared for my taste and gear. So, play around with your wattage, an APV is useful for this. 12 watts is now considered pretty delicate, so just keep temperature in mind. Also, air flow can change the flavor. So, always mix to your gear and your taste preferences. I don't recommend special gear for taste testing. Use your everyday gear, so you'll know how it will taste when you vape. Good luck! :toast:
