Kaezziel, that looks amazing. Really. I'm a big tea drinker but haven't tried any extracts like this yet. I have three questions:

Does this juice gunk up your coils any more so than regular juice?

Is there any heat involved in the PG extraction or just leaving it sit in cold (room temperature) PG will work?

If left to sit longer would that make a massive difference in the final concentrate? Or is two weeks kind of a cut off point.

I'd like to try this with rooibos like you did first but would eventually like a chai and passion fruit. Man my mouth is watering just thinking about it [emoji14]

Sounds good.Kaezziel:)

It really is... to say that I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement! ;)

This was my first attempt at it, too. It's a thought that had been rattlin' around in my head for a long while, and I finally got up the nerve to just give it a try. As for gunking coils, no, it doesn't appear to be any worse than many of my other juices... actually way less gunky than my Brickhouse Custard. That one is a horrible, nasty gunker... but I still love it! :p

I didn't add any heat at all, just room temp for about two weeks. I have no idea what heat or longer steep times would do to it. Mostly, I just went off of color and a SWAG (Scientific Wild A** Guess). Hahaha! I'd say experiment with it... I would probably adjust steep times, depending on the type of tea... maybe longer for green or white teas. Probably a little less for chai and other strongly flavored teas. Again, just a SWAG.

Basically, I guess, just don't be afraid to give it a try. If you love tea, then you already know that steeping varies widely between varieties, and are familiar with how different teas taste. Use that knowledge and come up with some wonderful creations of your own. Mine was a first attempt and I thought I'd share it as a guideline. I am by no means an expert, but I'd be more than happy to share notes and methods and discuss possibilities. If anyone here objects, just let me know and I'll start a new thread for this topic. :)

Just one more question on your recipe Kaezziel. Is it very sweet? Just wondering if I should drop the sweetener cause I can't vape anything very sweet.

Well, that's one of those subjective things. To me, it isn't overly sweet (definitely not as sweet as my peaches and cream). But if you're sensitive to sweetener, maybe try it with 1% sweetener to start with. You can always add more later if you want to. :)

Sounds like a plan. Can't wait to try it. My order has shipped already.

Awesome! Can't wait to see what kind of results you get! :)

LOL at SWAG! That's an awesome phrase that will stay with me.... Thanks for the info. I don't know why I've never extracted anything, just always forget to be honest.

Hahahaha! It's an old military acronym... been around for a long time. Before the hipsters decided that it is a suitable replacement for "cool".:lol::lol:

:lol::lol: Just what exactly can be Scientific in any WAG?:lol::lol:

I think the best explanation for it is that basically means "an educated guess". ;)

I made my own concentrate for this one!
This method has been floating around for a long time.
It's a method that didn't work for me, since I couldn't get enough "flavor" (tried the coffee)
Although it's for coffee, lots have used this method with flavored Teas, and do a lot of bragging to boot.
The only difference they make, is letting it sit for a few days before straining it ... stronger flavor.

Making coffee extract:
Fill 1/2 of a 30 ml bottle with ground coffee.
Then top it off with PG and microwave for 10 seconds. (no longer).
The coffee will absorb the PG.
Top it off again with PG, and place the bottle in a hot water bath for 20 minutes.
Strain mixture through a coffee filter.
Use a funnel, and cut the filter to fit, or attach the filter with a rubber band to the top of a jar.

I like the teas, so I'll have to try it. Maybe I'll have better luck than I had with the coffee.
The coffee may of been good if I had just used the extract itself for juice

Hmmmm... Thank you! I may have to give this method a try. I just did mine at room temp and let it set for a couple of weeks before straining. Seems to be about on par for the strength of a lot of TFA's flavors. 15% in my mix was good... tried another batch at 20% and it isn't as good, so I'll be sticking with 15% from now on.

ETA: I haven't tried coffee, though. I think that I much prefer the tea flavored vape to any coffee vape that I've ever tried.

I think the heating of the bottle is just to speed things up.
You may find it to be a lot stronger, and end up liking your own method better.
I can't believe how hot it is with just 10 seconds in the microwave .... don't go any longer
The bottle gets really soft
You may not have to wait very long to strain it ... kinda like the boiling water can create "tea" really fast in a cup. nuking it will have the same effect
I would try nuking it, adding the extra PG to refill the bottles and just let it cool overnight. If it has a lot of color, strain it and see what you have .. might not need to use that much of it to get your juice flavored.
Like I said, I haven't tried the loose tea leaves, so only talking off the top of my head :p

Yeah, I think that if I were to do it in the microwave, I'd probably use a glass measuring cup or something. These little plastic bottles can't handle much in the way of heat. It might not be a bad idea for me to do a comparison, though... having to wait two weeks for a concentrate isn't always feasible. And I'm not always the best planner. ;)
I do know that the loose leaf Rooibos that I used is pretty finely chopped/ground/whatever. Small bits of tea, anyway, that probably helps to impart more flavor than larger bits due to more available surface area of the smaller pieces...

I apologize for butting in on something I have not experimented with; but I found something interesting, and it might be useful to the current conversation.

Since @Kaezziel shared his tea extraction; I have been trying to rack my brain about what I had read from @Kurt regarding the concerns of organic matter extraction. I couldn't find what I was looking for but I did find this older thread that was started by @Kurt back in 2010 that was his method for extracting the essence from pipe tobacco. What I found most interesting was his use of a syringe and cotton ball to create a pressurized filter. He too also used heat to aid the extraction.

I am wondering if Kurt's method would be viable for other material like teas and coffee?

Here is the link to his thread: VG Pipe Tobacco Essense

I am also curious whether this could be done with PG instead of VG; or if their is some advantage, other than being able to mix higher VG mixes, to using VG?

And can anyone speak about the known safety/concerns about making extractions like these? I thought I had read about potential hazards from unfiltered bio matter (the stuff so small it will pass through a coffee filter), and long chain ____(?), but I'll be hanged if I can find the discussion again.

Sorry to everyone, I know this is WAY off the TFA topic, but I thought it was relevant to the discussion of the moment.

Dumb question, I know, but what is this drop box I keep reading about? Sounds like it's full of goodies.
Dropbox is personal cloud storage service that some people choose to store back-up files like documents and photos. The user has the option to allow access to these files to others by providing a link to another person/group.

here is a common one reffered to in this particular thread:
Dropbox - ECF Recipes
It is a directory of a lot of useful stuff; a lot of it from @Bill's Magic Vapor . I am not sure who the actual owner of this Dropbox is; but I am awful grateful!
NOTE: You do NOT need to log in, or sign up, to use. When the log in box opens, look to the bottom, and click on the "No Thank You" option and you can continue to the files.

Thank you so much. I will definitely go there and explore the recipes.
