Alright, no such thing as a dumb question, so here goes. Just getting into DIY, and made an order to Wizard labs and picked up, among other things, TFA root beer (I stalked the site and when there were 2 brands of a particular flavor available, noted which were most often sold out, so TFA won), clearly not researching enough to realize it's one of the worst RB flavors (second only to LA, so sort of dodged that bullet).

After a week of steeping (0mg, 50/50pg/vg, 5% Root Beer flavor), I'm just getting perfume. So the question is, has anyone found a way to salvage this flavor? It was cheap, but I'd hate to waste a whole bottle. On hand, I have brown sugar (tfa), pear (tfa), captain black (sm), commercial tobacco (sm), m-type (tfa), and a free sample of banana cream (tfa).

I'm waiting on some more bottles (6 was not enough), and then I'll start playing. Thinking that commercial tobacco smells really similar that there might be some combo there, brown sugar might balance things, even the banana cream might smooth the perfume.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated; thanks.

Don't they sell oba oba anymore or did it get a new name?

Oh by the way: I notice the prices at the TFA website are almost twice as high as when ordering the same TFA flavors from wizardlabs.
TFA charges $1.40 for 4ml while that same flavor is only $1.49 for twice the amount at wizardlabs. Seems like they're using quite a profit margin in the TFA shop!

I think it has been that way for a while now. One good thing is they have it when you need it. I'm not knocking WL at all here.

There were some suggestion on this link. Perfumers Apprentice - Root Beer Flavor (Tri) Sorry if you already read those, just trying to help. Usually when I have one that has a perfumey taste, I add some unflavored to dilute it down. It may just be that it is one of those flavors that need a really long steeping time. Well, I hope you figure it out because I would love to try it. Let us know how it works out. Thanks.

What I have found is a chemical or perfume flavor means more steeping, maybe even some lid off time.

Oba Oba is made by FA, they still make it. To my knowledge, TFA has never had an Oba Oba. TFA focuses on wholesale, bottling small quantities is costly, or they just don't like to. So it costs a little more to get it from them, but they always have what you are looking for. I was looking for gummy candy once and WL was out. I checked the website and they didn't have retail sizes available. I put in a ticket with customer service and they put it up!

Tucson, it's a dry heat
I made a "Gingerbread Cupcake" recipe that came out great (can't remember where I got the recipe - somewhere online):

TFA Gingerbread 10%
TFA Vanilla Cupcake 5%
TFA Caramel Original 3%
FA Madagascar Vanilla 2% (I imagine a TFA Vanilla would be fine too)

It's good - strong, but good. Only steeped for a week or two. Dial back the percentages if you like it milder.

EDIT: I made this with high VG, so again, dial back the percentages if using high PG.

Has anybody tried gingerbread or gingerbread cookie? Getting to be that time of year, lol. Anybody?

Well, post #4 from this thread gives a list of percentages to start out with. Oba Oba is in this list too and it's aimed at TFA liquids so I thought they had it too.

OK thanks, that makes sense.

Question about "smooth" for someone with info on it. Is it a flavor (like a smooth menthol or something) or does it take the throat hit off flavora that have a more dominate throat hit due to the flavor itself? Have a tangerine and some other flavors I want to smooth out (haha, I'm punny) and hope this is my answer.

Thanks in advance

Some places have set pricing higher than their distributors to protect them. No one wants to sell someone else's product and be undersold by the people you bought your product from. 2cents

Ooooooooooo, whoa! Thank you! Sounds really good, and another great excuse to buy a few new flavors.
