Are you sure it's not your base? Try vaping just the base with out flavoring and see if you still get black pepper. Some NIC solutions like from myfreedomsmokes give peppery taste.

Does anyone have a suggestion on % of TFA Cubano? Tried 6%. USC 4 hr. Real green tobacco aftertaste. Tried 3% still has a green aftertaste.
Great idea! Tried it. Just a touch of nicotine pepperiness and that hint of VG sweetness. The custard is full on black pepper, not that little bite you get from nicotine.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
There's your answer then. Must be the flavor. At 3% I would think it would be better. I do know that most vanillas are used as base flavor enhancers but a vanilla that taste like black pepper would not be much use in any mix. I've had great success with TFA's vanilla swirl and the Hangsen vanilla is also very good.
That is the charastic of that flavor. You will not get rid of the grassy green taste at any percentage. you can try mixing it with a 555, american red ,r honey cured or M-type or something to that effect. May not eliminate it but will make the green less noticeable. If using the M-type go very light like .25 to .5% that stuff is very strong. If you can find some tobacco absolute that may also help.

As I mentioned earlier be careful with the M-type it's strong stuff.
If you're looking for a creamy vanilla, I would try vanillin and bavarian cream. I don't see how that could be peppery, but I haven't had any problems with vanilla custard so far.
Mixed some Grapefruit at 12% as a starting point. I can taste it, but I think it needs to be a little stronger or it needs something. I'll mix it a little stronger and maybe with some sour. After that, on to the Orange Mandarin. It smells like Tang to me. I love my fruits!!!
Well, my next thought would be a messed up batch? I bought it direct from TFA. The Bavarian cream might work with Vanillin, but I was really hoping for the custard flavor. I have some other flavors I want to "custard up." But, if it's peppery, as Danny said, won't be much use.
Schnarph, you've used the custard and never detected pepper, right? So what percentage are you at in any of your recipes, please?

This may sound strange, but take a look at the inside of the flavorings vial cap. Is it a silver foil one or the usual white plastic clad paper insert...if its one of those white ones, is it broken or deteriorated in any way? I've had a couple flavorings in the little 8ml vials that had damaged seals, one where the paper was torn and dislodged and another where the paper seal was missing...exposing a waxy gooey glue like substance in both cases...the flavoring was very chemically and "off" tasting no matter how weak i mixed it. The one with the missing seal was absolutely horrible akkkkkk. Ended up discarding both vials and now I'm very careful about looking at the cap seals on flavorings. I believe the chems in flavorings can be very agressive on those seal papers and can leech crap out through and from under the seals, especially when the seal is damaged or dislodged in any way. store them upright and never shake the bottles or vials with the original caps on, unless they're capped with either the eyedropper caps or the newer foil type cap seals.
Maybe you have a bad seal or otherwise spoiled bottle/vial.

I have really been liking the Vanilla Swirl lately. I think it's a creamy Vanilla taste. You could always add Sweet Cream or Bavarian Cream to it for an even creamier taste if so desired. I don't get any peppery taste from this whatsoever.

I think I need a break from fruit flavors. How about RY4/vanilla swirl? Good with "adult" beverages? Good in general?
I just made this the other day and it's been in my tank every since:
RY4 Extreme
RY4 Double 8%
AP 1 drop per 5ml (for nuttiness)
3% Caramel (I just mixed this with 1% each of Caramel, Caramel Original, and Caramel Candy)
2% Vanilla Swirl
If your not a fan of Caramel, you can omit it or lower it to 1-2%. I just wanted to see how it would be to mix a small amount of all 3 together.

Not strange at all and I'm grateful for the idea. I wouldn't have thought of it.
I looked and everything looks normal. It's a 15 ml bottle, and yellow in color. When mixed with RY4 Double the mix turns orangish.
