Ever since the forum had the update links are screwed up for me. Checking my subscribed threads and clicking to go to first unread just takes me to the page of the first unread post. Really messed up.

What post number is it that you're linking to

Here is a cut and paste - not my list!

Because of a dry wick, most juices are harsh at the "dry vape" stage lol.
"Natural sweetener" does not necessarily imply that sucrose is used.

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener. It is 320 to 1,000 times as sweet as sucrose (table sugar), twice as sweet as saccharin, and three times as sweet as aspartame. It is stable under heat and over a broad range of pH conditions which is why many of us prefer to use it in our juices. It is not a sucrose derivative, so it does not have the potential to caramelize and gunk up your coil or wick as bad as other sweeteners can.

Splenda is a sucralose-based artificial sweetener derived from sucrose, having many of the same properties as table sugar, but still being artificial.

Lastly, stevia is a natural sweetener derived from the leaves of a plant, also with many of the exact same properties as sucrose.

'Hate to disagree, but perhaps you haven't had a chance to see the latest studies/news: Sucralose has been found to be UNstable when heated - and worst of all, when heated to typical 'cooking temperatures', it converts to DIOXIN.

As far as stevia, there is no similarity between sucrose and the way stevia sweetens...the only similarity is they both start as a plant, and they both taste sweet. The sweet-tasting chemicals in stevia leaf have no relationship to any sugar-ose (lactose, glucose, sucrose, fructose, etc). There is no sugar in stevia in any form (except the trace amounts that are found in any 'leaf').

As far as sucralose having 'many of the same properties as table sugar', that's chemically pretty much an impossibility, (as we're able to understand it), because it has virtually no similarity to table sugar at all. A lone sucralose molecule is basically gutted, and replaced with chlorine atoms/molecules via complex chemical reactions. The best way we can think of to describe it would be "a fully chlorinated sucralose molecule". Without the chlorine & chemical processing/interactions, there's no way it could so intensely sweet.

There are many medical professional that recommend against it's use, as empirical evidence (and independent research/study data) are showing it be toxic in many ways.

Am I the only person who refuses to add sucralose or vape it if it contains it?

No, you are not! We would never ingest or inhale sucralose in any form knowingly. And there are scads of reports scattered over ECF of vapers have many different adverse reactions from vaping it.

We've used Splenda almost exclusively in our house for many, many years. It's not heated that often, although it does go into my daughter's tea, but we do occasionally use it in cooking for ourselves. I didn't know people had had any reactions from vaping it - can you elaborate on the adverse reactions? I do recall a new study that came out fairly recently, but I've missed the discussions on ECF about personal experiences, so would like to read those also.

'Sorry, but we didn't bookmark/save any of the various posts about reactions & adverse effects...they were just confirming what we'd already learned. If I'm remembering correctly, stomach issues were common, acid reflux, gas/bloating, airway irritation, headache/migraine, skin reactions - generally symptoms of body "stress" or toxicity.

Here's a search (covering all of ECF) on the word "stomach", plus sucralose OR spenda OR sweetener OR ezsweet OR sweetner. 'Looks like you'll find a LOT of threads/post that match your criteria. Once it loads into Google, you can use the same search string (at the top of the page), and just change the word "stomach" to whatever other symptom or body part you're wanting to find: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=stomach&as_epq=&as_oq=sucralose%2C+splenda%2C+ezsweets%2C+sweetener%2C+sweetner&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.e-cigarette-forum.com&as_occt=any&safe=images&tbs=&as_filetype=&as_rights=

I don't doubt buffaloguy's documented tests but i tend to compare my mixes often, to vendor ejuices that i like or love…. enough to try to imitate.
Ive assumed that these commercial ejuices, mostly fruits in my case, have lots of sweetener. I may be wrong, but i guess my point is that if its true that sweeteners or acid add ons will diminish in a couple days, overall flavor, then these vendor ejuices do NOT have them because they seem to hold their substance for longer, in fact many people will not even use them until steeping a week or more.

just saying.

Thanks for the heads up! I am definitely interested in new findings related to all things vaping. I haven't been online much lately, but I'll definitely do some research tonight to find and get caught up with the new testing results.

I'm not too fond of the WUW site though when it comes to facts and findings. They're one of many sites who are still misinforming people about ecigs and the dangers related.

I've never liked using Splenda, but still use Sucralose so I will search elsewhere for new related info, thanks again! :)

Well I can report that at 5% and 5mg nic, Mary Jane flavor tastes just like the stuff you got as a kid that was shipped across borders and packed in the back of a truck for weeks. Not good, but it did bring a smile to my face while vaping it.

If you're like me, a non smoker of it, but enjoy the flavor of it, you will disappointed, I say a pass. At least at 5%. Might try to add something to it like Menthol to tone down the burnt kitchen spice taste it has. That's part of why it brought a smile. Remembering the old stupid days you have as a kid. I wanted it as a flavor adder to a morning vape with a coffee, sweets (cupcakes, waffles, ect) and tobacco.

Let's say we can make a stellar juice using 3%-10% FA flavors (and we can), but a vendor (for whatever reason) chooses to use additives (which lessen the overall intensity of the flavor). So they could use the same flavors with additives...they'd just need to use 25%-75% more flavor.

Remember, all around the 'net you'll find all manner of DIYers throwing in 5% EM, 3-5% sucralose, and using 25%-30% flavor...swearing they "need" that much flavoring to be able to taste it.

Unless we know what additives and flavor brands a vendor is using, we can't "compare" anything but taste.
