Monica-Wow, that would be fast delivery for usps! Hope it made it safely!!! I still haven't tried mine honestly. So let me/us know how it goes.

Andrea, wow I learned a LOT this am reading up on the wta' s, checked the site here too, will talk to mom about...had to do some math :yawn:this am to figure out mixing wta and nic for her levels, but I actually got it figured out...surprisingly:laugh:..yay!!!!...They seem to be a little pricey, hence I will talk with her her input first....seems like could be beneficial for her though from what I read about them. Of course it's on my tab, but I want to see if she would beinterested in trying it out, I won't tell her the cost though:facepalm:

Only a couple more days til tfa is back to business, my countdown to blueberry wild can begin soon:thumb::banana::thumb::banana:

Yeah, it's a lot more expensive than even other pre-made plain nic ejuice... but well worth it, for me; my husband -- the guy footing the bill! -- agrees; he didn't really care for going out to get me a pack of smokes at midnight when I hit that "wall of craving". :D

I've figured out that mothersmilkwta is actually less costly than WholeCigs, based on per-ml cost; WholeCigs' works out to be about $1.78 per ml; MMWTA works out to about $1.49 per ml (including the shipping charges -- MMWTA is less costly per ml even before the shipping cost, and their shipping is cheaper too).

A 10ml bottle of the 25mg I've been getting generally lasts me about 3-4 wks; since I'll be buying MMWTA 15ml from now on, I'm confident that it will last the whole month. When I figure in the cost of it on the money side of that calculator I linked, it doesn't raise cost of the DIY *too* badly, since so far it's been just 10% of the total amount, but I'm looking forward to decreasing it, and eventually being free of it completely if I can manage it.

I have a question for you guys about a flavor substitution. I've found a recipe that sounds delicious on the planet of the vapes user-recipes area, but it called for Caramel flavoring -- which I don't have -- at 2%. I was wondering if you all think the TFA Brown Sugar Extra might be a reasonable substitution -- I'm not a huge fan of caramel, which is why I haven't bought any.

This is the recipe:

Boston Cream Cheesecake

Milk chocolate 5%
Cheesecake 5%
Vanilla Custard 4%
Bavarian Cream 4%
Caramel 2%

I was just trying to think if I had anything else that I might use in place of the caramel, and the brown sugar extra occurred to me.

Thx!

I'm writing this from work today. No holiday pay though. Boo!! I was in bed by 8:45 last night. No hangover here either :)

When I get home we will be having crab legs and black eyed peas!

I have a couple of licorice recipes:

Red Vines:

Absinthe - 2%
Red Vines - 10%
Raspberry - 7%
Sweetener - 4%
Sweet Cream - 2%

This recipe is also great when mixed with Cream Fantastico. One woman, who sells eliquid, on the strip, claims that these two combined are her favorite ADV's.

Black Cherry Licorice

Absinthe - 2%
Sweetener - 3%
Black Cherry - 15%

Black Licorice

Absinthe - 15%
Sweetener - 4%
Menthol - 1%
Sweet cream - 3%

From any of these, you can easily make licorice to your liking, by adjusting flavorings with 100DT's. Good luck! :toast: :D

:2cool: :vapor:

BMV, sir, you are AMAZING!

I have been wanting an Absinthe recipe (I got some Mt. Baker back in June that I absolutely loved) and now that I'm DIYing, I wanted something to replicate it.

I must say, your rendition is BETTER than what I remembered MBV's to taste like. Thanks for sharing :)

Bill's Magic Vapor:

Using Absinthe to make licorice from scratch is outright genius. I've just been using premade licorice flavors. I feel a bit slow in the head now.

I'll be watching this too, haha. With my first flavorings order I bought a very small bottle of FW Black Licorice (6ml) and although it is quite tasty (vaping it now @6% plus 2 drops sweetener per 5ml) I think I'd like to try to stay with TFA/TPA flavors moving forward. I couldn't find a TFA black licorice or anise flavor so picked the FW one up instead. Didn't know that was absinthe's flavor. :)

The TFA 4 oz bottles at The Perfumer's Apprentice are about the same cost as the 1 ounce bottles with a bulk account, which is free, and there is no minimum. Of the basic fifteen or so flavors that I recommend at first, one should try and get those in the 4 ounce size (for a wee bit more than the 1 ounce size), as you will use those in many, if not most, recipes. Much cheaper this way both long and short term, and it easy to do, and provided to you automatically, even if you are new, even if you've never ordered before. Most of the more than 200 flavorings at TFA, you will perhaps never use, or use at most, in perhaps only a single recipe. I believe there are about 40 flavorings that I don't have, but only about 20 or 30 different flavorings that I use day in and day out.

We say this over and over, but you need the vanillas, creams and sweeteners for most recipes, followed by a few fruits, followed perhaps by your favorite flavors, and then the one-off recipe flavorings. Those fifteen or twenty flavorings that I mention on my blog, though, will be in virtually every recipe you make, so the larger sizes make sense, and TFA's willingness to provide their juices in bulk, at a 65 - 70% discount, is just not something you should pass up. Get those 4 ounce bottles for the critical basic 15 or 20 that you will use every day. Good luck! :toast: :D

:2cool: :vapor:

Thanks Bill. I was hoping that by opting to order the 4oz bottles of the main flavors from OSDIY (they had almost all of them in stock, a couple I had to settle for smaller bottles of for now) that I would be able to get them in hand sooner with TFA's website not accepting new accounts right now (due to holidays). OSDIY did get my order shipped a couple days ago but if the tracking is accurate it is still sitting at the post office up there. I also see that it's pretty cold up there right now so they could be having some weather issues or something.

I did get almost all of the base creams and vanillas etc. along with sweeteners I didn't already have, as well as most of the fruit flavors in your base list. Had to settle for smaller bottles of raspberry and strawberry to use to tame chemical/perfume when I run into it but that will get me by for at least the next several bottles of eliquid I need that for.

So once I get this order in I should be pretty well set - I'll get the last few I couldn't pick up once I can get an acct created at TFA.

Thanks for all your help and advice Bill!

The State of Confusion
I swear Bill, your costing me a fortune haha. All the times i've seen you mention those Taifuns finally got to me and took me past curiousity to the point that i just ordered one,and now you mention that kgd haha.I've been using rayon for a while, and when you get it right it's fantastic, but i only seem to hit that sweet spot with it about once a month haha,so after seeing you mention that, now i gotta give it a try too.I need to stay away from this thread before i spend my rent money haha.

I've said it more than once, Bill is why I have no money today!

I have a full lab, a Taifun showroom, even learned how to speak German...all because of Bill !

My paychecks are on direct deposit to TFA and MFS...I get a miniscule monthly food allotment !

Bill you're bad...really really bad....

LOL

We love ya' man!

I'm still somewhat new to the DIY scene, but I've had pretty decent success since the end of July when I jumped in feet first.

I have *LOTS* more reading to do, as it seems like I learn something new every stinking day!

My question of the day revolves around EM/Cotton Candy/Sweetener. Early on, I was under the impression that these three flavors were somewhat interchangeable. I'd not ordered EM or Cotton Candy until this week, but I had used Stevia (very sparingly) in a couple of mixes.

I guess the question is, is it o.k. to sub these flavors, if a specific ingredient is not available? Am I o.k. using Stevia when sweetener is called for?

I now have TFA EM and Cotton Candy to use when requested. Just wondering if I'm moving in an appropriate direction.

Thx

You can sub anything you like, but substitutions will change the flavor profile. Maybe better, maybe worse, maybe just different. Stevia is sweeter than like tfa sweet, but it has an artificial sweetener taste some don't like. I'm a diet soda junkie so I don't mind it at all. Cotton candy is more of a mellow sweetener that can fill in the gaps between other flavors.
There is no wrong answer with substitutions in DIY. Just what tastes good to you.

Welcome!

Yes, they are somewhat interchangeable, but all three will provide different flavors, so don't be surprised if a recipe tastes "off" when using substitutions. Same goes for brands. Different brands can have the same flavorings, but strengths vary enough by brand to change, sometimes significantly, the final taste of the juices, particularly when multiple substitutions are made. :toast:

I am all over my diet sodas as well, so I don't mind (actually like) the Stevia. I figured there would be some subtle differences as the chemical compounds are slightly different.

BMV, wish I would have read your threads earlier in my DIY journey. I would have gone for the 4oz TFA options, but, I'm still learning, and I'll need to resupply at some point ;)

Thanks for confirming
