Alright sounds good, I have just been doing 50/50 VG/PG for now as I stuck my new flavors in some old Iclear30s tanks I had (had spare coils). With this batch of my rasp lemonade I lowered the raspberry by 1% and it seems very well balanced (although still missing the sour). I plan on making a bigger batch of this tonight probably to vape while I work on some other flavors. I was just wondering because I could do my 35 drops of PG with a bit over 1 dropper filled, but with VG my 50 drops took almost 4. Seems like a larger difference to me. Guess I will see when I scale it up. The flavors coming out a bit stronger probably won't be an issue though as I noticed they settle down a bit over time, and I have always found my iclear30s tanks to give a really thick flavor compared to anything else I have used.
The sour will not help the lemonade. Can't get that biting sour lemonade flavor with TFA, imho. I've tried. LorAnn's and Flavor West both have biting sour lemonade, though. Many flavors get stronger with time, some lesser. Also, the mix can make a difference too. Lemon can get much weaker, but not always, depending on the supporting flavors. All flavorings have to be matched to the gear you are using, as they will vary quite a bit from and IClear to a dripper. Also recommend you mix to desired flavoring at time of mix (ATM). Most will improve within 34 - 48 hours, but at least you know you have a very good mix, or certainly really close. If the flavoring then moves away from you, then you can remix to take that into account. Needs to be good ATM, imho. Good luck! :toast: :D

so ive never done the 100 DT and i really should now that im looking at the many 5ml bottles that line my vape shelf of mixes that are not just right but my thought is 100 drops is aprox 5 mls is it not? most calcs start at 20 drops per mil so 20 x 5 and all
is this correct or is drops per mil closer to 40 which would be 2.5 mils and just enough to get a feel for a flavor i would think but its a slow pain to use needles and such for 2.5

Yes, about 2.5 - 3 mils, or perfect for my little mini taifun tanks. It makes more than enough to taste and get a good sense of flavoring. I will generally vape about a mil or two to get a sense of the flavoring between 100DT's. My taste buds aren't so good, since about 1975, so I take my time with it. Bad is easy and quick. Good and close to right takes a wee bit, so I like the 2.5 - 3 mils a lot. Perfect for me. Sometimes I will use the same setup and just different tanks between 100DT's, sometimes I use new setups and tanks in between. Just depends how much I feel like cleaning up afterwards....my mood for the effort. As mentioned by others, it is very quick and easy. I will often make up to eight mixes in a session, changing and adjusting the mix until it gets right for my tastes. It often takes fewer than 8 attempts, though. Making multiple HFM though, is the only way to quickly dial in great recipes, and sure beats the mix and steep method from a timing standpoint. Both ways work fine, but one is just much quicker, requires higher flavorings, and a bit of citric acid to lock in the flavoring. That's been my experience. Good luck to you and welcome to DIY! :toast: :D

Hey all, been lurking in this thread for a few weeks, and I have to say that this may be the best thing I have ever stumbled onto aside from taking up vaping to begin with. I was toying with DIY for a bit before discovering this thread, and man, has my brain been going into overtime with ideas, Bill, your Cinnamon Danish was the first recipe I tried here, and has been my ADV since. Just got ANOTHER sample order in from Wizard, and was finally able to try your Chocolate Cake as well. Another home run. Thank you.

So as I don't continue to sound like a Bill's Magic Vapor fanboy, and maybe net myself a restraining order, a quick question. I have been working on a Blueberry mint recipe for a few weeks, and I just cannot seem to get the blueberry flavor I am looking for. I have tried both the BB Extra and Wild, and just got some Candy in my order today, which may helps considerably. But wasn't there something to add in the background that really made the blueberry pop? I think it was raspberry, but I cannot for the life of me locate it on the thread again.

Thanks in advance, and Happy Vaping all!!!

I have seen a lot of people mix BB wild and BB extra together to get a "True Blueberry" taste, he recommends raspberry/strawberry to take the edge off harsher flavors, and remove the "perfume" taste that some let off. Recommended for Watermelon and Grape in most cases I believe.

Many of us harass Bill, he is like the TFA guru :) I don't think he minds too much, always has great pointers.

Thanks for the tip of the hat, my friend. Appreciate it!

Blueberry or blueberry mint is really not a flavoring I've worked specifically on before. I do use blueberry in mixes and have had good luck with mixing wild and extra together. You do need to add sweetener to the mix, or you won't get near the blueberry you may have in mind. Creams and vanilla creams (6% or less each) combined with sweetener (2-4%)will make the juice pop. Low amounts of raspberry and strawberry will kill the chemical/floral notes if present (2% or less).

Blueberry candy also sounds like a winner. You need to do 100DT's with this. Start by trying each of wild blueberry and blueberry extra. What is missing? What is too much? Isolate those tastes in your thinking. What does it need to taste better? Sweetener? Add and try. Cream or vanilla cream? Add and try. Combinations of blueberry types? Add and try. The 100DT method is a process to take you from a starting point toward a finished flavoring by taking steps toward a flavoring.

You'll know that flavoring when you taste it, right? Well, start really anywhere and test. What is missing, too little, too much? Adjust and try again. In most cases I can get from terrible to delicious in eight steps or less. Takes some practice, but this is the only way I know how to do it. What is the most important part? Patience.....

Good luck! You'll get there....just start....take baby steps....adjust.....taste test....adjust and repeat until the mix is to your liking. Only way I can do it myself. Best!:toast:

I have been using the 100DT for the last week, and have gotten really close, but there is still something missing. I am hoping that the swath of samples I got in the mail today holds the missing piece to the puzzle. I can't wait until I have it nailed down and am able to share my first recipe here with all of you fine folks.

Thank you again for all of the collective wisdom you have all been willing to share here. I would have probably quit before I even got underway had it not been for this thread and all the wonderful people here.

Happy Vaping all!!!

I'm gonna start experimenting with caramel and a variety o stuff to see if I can make something vape able into a wethers and then maybe attempt a chocolate caramel pixie.....so anyone that can make steer me,,,,,jump in and hopefully I won't have 10 attempts to throw out :)

I have 2 recipes in my recipe file. I have NOT tried these yet, but I am thinking I am looking for the same type of flavor. I love Werther's hard candies and always carry some in my purse.

Werthers
6% Butterscotch
5% Caramel
4% Vanilla Cream

5% Caramel
5% Vanilla Custard
5% butterscotch

Hope this helps you get started. I hope to be mixing next Monday!

I made werthers a while back. It was one of the many recipies that died when my hardrive crashed back in the day. I remember using butterscotch and a combo of caramel and caramel candy as the base.
