To be honest I'm not interested in doing up a multi-ingredient recipe. I might try mixing a tobacco flavor with a coffee flavor, but beyond that . . . well, I'm more a cook than a chef. Also, today is my ***BEGIN TO DIY DAY*** as of my reception of a shipment from Amazon, so I'll start out simply.
OMG, you made me cringe .. you actually bought flavorings from Amazon ... we need to talk !!

Take what you bought and try each one solo.
Just make a 2ml test of each flavor so you can see how strong it is, if you like the flavor, how sweet etc, etc.
Start with a low percentage, you can always add another drop to the tank.
If you let us know what flavors you bought, and from whom, we can make recommendations.
A (don't flip out Bill) lot of the flavorings are good all by themselves.
I have 15-20 flavors I use without mixing anything else with them.

I found it last night, and surprisingly the color didn't change much, maybe just a tiny bit darker but you can still see through it if held toward a light.I haven't tasted it again yet, gotta clean out a tank, but it smells fantastic haha.

Let us know; I'm kinda curious to know how it might change, with steeping. When I made 60ml of my strawberry, I discovered that sitting for awhile just makes it stronger and sweeter, but no other change, at least not in 2-3 wks.

Tsk, tsk! I did not say that I bought flavorings from Amazon.

Bout a week ago I got my first shipment of Flavor Apprentice flavors in, bunch of 4ml bottles for testing before I decide what I like and order in bulk. I'm enjoying them a lot. Tried my hand at Banana Cream Pie, Candied Apple, Strawberry Custard, and Smores flavors. They turned out pretty decent, only minor tweaks needed, and most of the tweaks have to do with Graham Cracker flavoring. ( It turned out to be weaker than expected, or it didn't steep long enough. )

I would like to ask those with more experience than I a question: Despite many of my recipes not sharing any ingredients, many of them turned out to have a very chemical or perfumey taste in the background. I haven't experienced this with other flavor brands I'd tried so far. Was wondering if there was a trick to getting rid of the effect or not? I have a hunch it has to do with Flavor Apprentice using alcohol in some of their flavors, but I'm not sure.

Also, one of the flavors I bought on a whim was champagne. Oddly enough I have no idea what to put it in. Anyone who's tried it before able to fill me in on how it tastes/acts with other flavors, how strong it is, ect, before I waste it trying something stupid?

@Lanore, sometimes I've seen folks recommend a few drops of a raspberry or strawberry to cut the "perfumey" taste/smell to a mix, at least fruity or possibly tobacco-y mixes. Might try some vanilla swirl/sweet cream/bavarian cream in savory mixes.

It seems counter-intuitive, but it typically works.

Champagne - I'd try something fruity - strawberry/peach. I've never used it before, but that just sounds good (to me) as a potential combo....

Morning all: lanore, you might want to post up a recipe with %'s that is tasting odd so the experienced mixers can look over to see if anything amiss and what suggestions they can offer to get things adjusted/alterations if needed. What device and topper do you use?pg/vg ratio? These type of things might provide more insight for them to help out:)
Edited: also if you use any curing techniques or not...
Agree with dinger, peach or strawberry, actually both go well with the champagne, john/trophyfish shared a good recipe a bit ago, I enjoyed it....

10%champagne
6% strawberry ripe
4% juicy peach
(Recipe is trophyfish's)

I wish I had time to play around with champagne more with other fruits too, seems to make a crisp base for some fruits, imo.

Added more sweetener and bavarian cream to mom's vanilla mix to see if alleviates this cream of wheat taste she is getting....otherwise might pick up some diy flavor shack holy vanilla for her next.....seems to be a great vanilla....smells great in the ready-mixed version, so I might need to try her diy flavors version next

Unfortunately I've out shopped my racks. Had to buy a six foot fold out table for flavors. Youd think by the inventory that I have a juice shop, but I dont. Flavors are just alot cheaper in bulk and how can I know which I like best if I dont try them all:facepalm:

Wow I wont even post the picture of the priority mail box I use to keep like my 11 flavors in (including the sweeteners)!! I guess I gotta start branching out from the 3 ADVs I regularly make haha.
That's the bad part about it.I have bought at least 100 or more flavors, most are the small 8-10ml samples, but still i have bought alot, and i actually use 10 or less of them 99% of the time haha.I go on the theory though that you never know what you'll like unless you try it,so i pick up a few new sample bottles here and there to see, then the ones i use all the time i have bought in 4oz.

Hey, it works for you and your Mom, right? Isn't that all that matters?
