The State of Confusion
I started with LorAnn and CAP. CAP vanilla custard and wild cherry are super IMO. I have leaned on TFA because of the massive list if recipes and the ease of following Bill's mixing philosophy....

Lorann is mostly oil based and a real PITA to mix with PG or VG..IMHO

Capellas makes some GREAT flavors, but they are more like extracts, not true "flavors", TFA are the base, core flavors, no sweeteners, no microscopic particulate, etc., etc.,

I mean with Capella, you can buy for instance Root beer, or Root beer Float, and it pretty much stands on it's own....

Same for their Sweet Strawberry, Sweet Pineapple, Mango and Raspberry.

Because they are more like extracts making complex flavors like for instance Capt'n Crunch with Crunch Berries would be much more difficult if using Cap as opossed to TFA....IMHO

I tried the dragons blood recipe for the first time today. I didn't have the sweet cream but it's still pretty good.

The Sweet Cream is an accent / smoothing flavor...very subtle.

On it's own it's basically sour milk! :w00t:

Add the cream when you can and I'm sure you'll notice the difference!

Originally Cap made their flavors for and still do for home cooking, LorAnn the same'

TFA now then makes their flavors for professionally trained culinary chefs that learn the art of mixing this and that to get a "Peanut Butter" note in that Raspberry Vinaigrette salad dressing! :thumb:

I don't think any of the brands of flavorings say on their labels that they are for ejuice.

No they don't because there are implications due to the fact the food grade flavorings are being heated and vaporized and inhaled, not ingested.

BUT...but they are considered safe as they are food grade! :thumb:

Yep... as far as I know, the only type of chemicals (other than oils!) that so far has raised any debate about its safety for inhalation are the diketone types... and as I said, that's still very debatable as to whether it really constitutes a risk at these levels or not.

I do try to avoid any flavors that have artificial color, because it's just unnecessary; why use anything that isn't strictly necessary for the flavor? Eating it, well I try to avoid artificial color in my food too, but since I do eat some processed foods, that can be difficult.. but for vaping, we don't know much about it in that regard, and it's not necessary for flavor, so why bother with it.

Cayenne pepper is considered as safe to eat as well, but vaping it.....
Has anyone been stupid enough to try cayenne ejuice?

Actually NONE of the stuff we DIY with says on it's label that it is for use in ejuice.

It is all about harm reduction, hopefully the science plays out in our favor over the next 10 years or so.

I have to speculate that at least one or two (or a 100) of the things we currently regard as acceptable to vape will be proven harmful, after some authentic non-biased research is conducted.

Still beats smelling like a cigarette to me!

ROFL... my son told me he once snorted up some black pepper, on a dare. After I got finished laughing at him, I asked him how it was possible that I had raised such a stupid person. :D

yep I view it as harm reduction and not totally safe and much more enjoyable than smoking.

LMAO! Totally Wicked used to have a flavor concentrate called Diablo Loco... it was made with the Naga Jolokia pepper. I did try that one, and I have to say that it definitely added throat hit to any juice...... but it also added a very intense heat to the mouth feel which overpowered pretty much any flavor that you put it into. Even when only using a single drop of Diablo Loco to 20ml of tobacco flavored juice... all you could taste was the heat of the pepper.

    Somewhere between here and there
I never tried that one from them but used to use their camel flavoring. It just seemed like it took too much flavoring to get the liquid to where I liked it. That was back when I had it stuck in my head that I had to use tobacco liquids only.

Yeah, TW is the reason I stopped doing DIY after my first go-round... I tried and tried to get a decent juice with their concentrates and just couldn't come up with anything that was truly vapeable... and that was back when I was still using carto-tanks! I couldn't imagine how awful they'd be on a dripper... So I went back to buying juice for a long time, started getting snobby and paying a premium for the fancy juices. But when you're paying $25+ for 30ml and killing a bottle every 2-3 days, that got crazy expensive.... now, thanks the the awesome people here, I tried DIY again and I'm loving life! Even the fancy juices mostly taste like crap to me now...

I tried more than a few... suffered through about a year and a half of DIY with their stuff... just too stupid and stubborn to try anything else, I guess. I did try a few LorAnn's flavorings, but just didn't really get a grasp on things. I'm truly grateful for this thread... I can actually make decent juice now!!
Good to see you, too! And thanks!! It's been a long, hard road, but things are looking up and turning around for us. Of course, now she's going into health kick mode and trying to make me give up my red meat....... LOL... she knows that's a losing battle! I'll agree to try to be healthier, but there's just certain things that this country boy ain't givin' up!

Haha, yeah i know that feeling. My wife tries to cut out the red meat, she gets on a chicken kick a few times a month, and we will have chicken at least 4 nights a week. That would be ok if i really liked chicken, but i don't haha.I finally told her if she keeps shoving chicken at me,i'm going to start going to Mcdonalds for dinner haha.
Almost forgot, the last time she made cheeseburgers, she thought she'd be sneaky and make them with ground turkey instead of beef. They were pretty good, but not good enough to make me think i was eating a real hamburger haha.

LMAO!! Yeah, she tried that on me with turkey bacon....... Really? Didn't think I'd notice the difference? I didn't say a word, then halfway through breakfast she asked "How's the bacon?"... I went straight Crocodile Dundee on her. "It tastes like :censored:, but you can live on it." ... Needless to say, she was not amused!
