I just got a couple new TFA flavors; someone in the tootle puffer thread was extolling the deliciousness of an ejuice he bought, and it sounded great, so I thought I might try something along those lines... Vanilla custard, hazelnut, and Earl Grey flavors. It just struck me: YUM! I've been using the Capella Hazelnut v2, but I decided to give the TFA DX version a try; the Capella one is very strongly acetyl pyrazine-smelling (and tasting, somewhat); the TFA one smells as if it also has some of that, I guess for the "nuttiness," but it seems to be a more subtle scent.

I also got my Achilles rda, and just got finished boiling it, so I can see about getting it setup and ready to vape with; I'm hoping my cherry soda tests have "steeped" sufficiently to let me get a real taste.

Speaking of Huckleberry, one of the first TFA flavors I bought when I originally got this whim to make juice (over a year ago, then realized I had LOTS to learn) was Boysenberry. Thought I would make a pancake type thing. It smells divine. I never hear it mentioned. Anyone tried it?

Boysenberry, like TFAs Blue Raspberry is very difficult to work with IMHO. These were two of the first flavors I bought because I really like blue raspberry candy and LOVE anything boysenberry. Ive never seen Boysenberry recommended at anything higher than like 6% and even at that, to me it still tastes like nasty perfume and Ive never once gotten an actual decent tasting Boysenberry out of it.. I think TFA's own description says flat out something along the lines of 'alot of people just do not like this flavoring' hah. I still have some left, next time I make some new batches Ill give it a try with Bill's 'Bubbleburst' base, maybe Ill try it at 4%. I finally made the Grape Bubbleburst a couple weeks ago (I usually leave out either the Sweet and Tart or Bubblegum and try to go for those) and it turned out awesome.. Ill give the Blue Raz another try too. The Bubbleburst base so far seems to work pretty good across the board, I made a batch last week subbing Green Apple at 12% for the Grape Candy/Strawberry and it came out killer. Had I known that it was gonna be that good I wouldve made a whole 60ml, Ive almost gone through the 30 I made in just a few days..

Cotton Candy (EM) should smell just like cotton candy really, nothing at all like any mint. It should also taste, on your tongue (try it), just like cotton candy too. If it does not, then you got the wrong flavor by accident probably.

Your comments on Strawberry Ripe sound like it may be correct, it's a bit different than other strawberries and I could see how some might taste "green" a little when freshly mixed. What percentage did you mix it at, and how long has it been since you mixed it?

After about 7-10 days it will mellow out, around then or a bit after it turns yellow, then it should be plenty mellow and maybe then it won't have that green taste to you anymore. I mix it around 8%, others like it at 10-12%, and some like it about 5-6%, it's pretty versatile.

I just tasted a drop of my Cotton Candy flavor and yuck. Thanks for the info, im going to give them a call and see if they will throw in another in my next order. I need an excuse to add some more flavors to finish my cereal juice. :)

As for my Strawberry Ripe, I have tried it at different %. I have always mixed small batches, so the bottles never lasted more than a couple days. I just mixed 100ml of a banana juice with Strawberry Ripe at 2% a couple of days ago. I have noticed it is starting to turn yellow, ill take it to work with me tonight and see how age has affected the taste. I am used to the fresh mixed taste so it should be interesting to see how to progresses.

What is this called?

10% Lemon
5% Juicy Peach
5% Watermelon Candy
2% Blueberry Extra
2% Key Lime

It doesn't really have a name.. It's the one my boss likes.. depending upon my mood when I mix it, I change around the fruits percentages to go with the lemon. I guess when I get some sort of sweetener, I will find my favorite combination and give it a name. This one was just random.

I have used Ripe Strawberry in several mixes and it seems pretty true to the description to me. I use sweetener at the average rate and that could make a difference.

I am thinking that might help. The CC I have, which was my sweetener, isn't quite right. Somehow it taste like it has a couple drops of spearmint in it, which doesn't help with the green taste at all lol

Has anyone ever tried Natures Flavors - Banana? If so, which TFA flavor does it compare to? I got a free sample with one of my orders from someone, and I want to order more, but the TFA version. I was thinking of trying Ripe Banana (i think?) Thanks :)

Just be warned, ripe banana is a good flavor, but is very much a tank cracker.I use glass tanks,so never had that problem, but i had it lock up a syringe on me and i almost knocked a whole bottle of juice over that i was putting it in haha.It swelled the little black plunger piece and it would not move.If you get it and use a syringe, pull the plunger up a bit before drawing the banana in so it doesn't touch that black part.

I'm sure she'll sort it out for you, new bottle sent out asap or like you want another one in the next order :thumb:

You'll have to mix up some of that ripe and let it set a week or two, it changes, and it'll get bright yellow too after a few weeks (at least at 5-8% anyway) It should go good with that banana, I bet you'll like it and now I want some :D

Thanks for the heads up BM. I drip mostly or use my Starre, which is glass, but I do (not since it's going to be illegal ;) ) mix juice for others, so thats good to know so I'm not accidently cracking tanks.

I ran out of nic when I was waiting on my last order so I had to buy some "fancy juice" called Blue Ballz. It's basically a blueberry banana, which is what got me wanting strawberry banana. Then I got the free sample of NC Banana and I've been trying to make a good Strawbana liquid with a hint of blueberry, but my aforementioned troubles have been holding me back. I think im going to order some Ripe Banana, some vanillas (swirl, cupcake, and Bean IC), and maybe an orange.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a delicious orange? I have read a lot of bad about them, but I love orange so I'm not picky.. as long as it doesn't taste like orange cleaner

This is a good thing to note! As I posted earlier I just mixed up some 'Bubbleburst' with TFA Green Apple and had forgotten the fact it was a tank cracker since all I do is drip now.. Ive made green apple juices before with no trouble but this last time, I could feel the plunger on my 5ml syringe start getting harder to push down once I started injecting it.. It never did this before but for whatever reason you could feel it start doing it this time (luckily it all came out and the syringe still works I think..). I never made a batch with it this big before so maybe my 1ml syringes I used previously had a different plastic in it but that bigger one it definitely started locking up. I knew it the instant I pushed on the plunger and immediately hurried up and pushed it down while it could still move and washed it out as soon as I got the flavor in the juice..

Boysenberry was one of 4 original flavors I bought from Wizard labs with the intention of spiking up some other liquids I bought that were lackluster in flavor. At the time I was less than a year from quitting smoking and needing bold flavors. I had 2 60mls of a quality juice that was berry something but extremely mild. I added what i though would be an appropriate amount after learning a little by lurking in a DIY thread. My mild liquid was suddenly a full blown perfume and unvapeable. I was perplexed because I had started with a low percentage, like 2-3% with the intention that I could add more if needed.
Second attempt at spiking my own bought mistakes was with another of those four flavors I had bought. Apple Pie. Another flavor I chased and bought many and all were lackluster. I do not know how many Apple Pies I spiked with my flavoring and still had unvapeable stuff. Sometime later I read a writing from Bill saying the Apple Pie flavoring was troublesome and one would do better to mix up apple pie by buying apple flavoring and pie crust. Another one of the four was Cheesecake and luckily by this time I was not even in to trying to spike anything and had already deemed that I "sucked at DIY" the same thing the person that sent me the mega box of flavorings said about herself. At this point I realized I had a lot to learn and became a lurker in this thread

The State of Confusion
I thought this was interesting enough to share, a week ago last Saturday I had to order some TFA flavors, I ordered some of them from wizard labs, and the rest from TPA/TFA. I got the tracking number from TPA first, and showed movement on the 8th, and then got the tracking from wizard, which moved quickly and received it on Friday. The package from TPA never showed movement again. I sent TPA/TFA a e-mail about it, and they are sending me the entire replacement order, no questions asked, and said that if I ever do get the other one I can keep it. Outstanding customer service! :)

KAS

You're sending it to me...right?
(The extra order that will arrive by Christmas). :thumb:

I really like orange too. I tried tangerine, orange cream, nectarine, and orange mandarin flavors. I had the best luck with either the orange mandarin by itself or it at around 10-12% with a couple percent of orange cream and tangerine added at around 2% along with some vanilla and sweetener.

    I think I made a very stupid mistake! :(

Last week I mixed up 50ml of my Prometheus and I filled a small tank today to see how it turned out. Flavourwise it's lovely but after four or five puffs I felt a constriction in my throat and my head started to thump. To me that signifies very high nic. The bottle says 6mg (I normally vape between 3 and 6) but I'm pretty sure there's a lot more then 6mg in there. I must have used the 72mg base instead of the 36mg I usually use. I do remember the 36 running out at some point because I mixed a whole lot of juices that day. But i'm pretty sure, or at least I think, I took that into consideration when I was mixing. Still it must have been some sort of senior moment because for sure that Prometheus is was too high in nic for me.

Problem is, how do I cut down the nic without altering the flavour, because the flavour is just perfect.

You will just have to make another batch with no nic and mix the 2 together.

Yes I thought of that but I don't have any more coconut. It will have to wait till I reorder. Plus I specifically made this to let it steep in time for when my in-law visits to give her some. Darn it - I really did too many mixes that day and the nic-base bottles are identical except for a tiny strip of colour where the value of the nic is printed - 72 and 36. Still even if it were 12mg it shouldn't have such a massive effect on me should it? Unless of course I've already become pretty much intollerant to nic.

This illustrates the value of always buying 100mg. If you never buy different, you never have to "make adjustments." You just put it into your recipe as being 100mg and the calculator figures out how much you need -- far less room for 'senior moments.' ;)
