So I made that 450 ml bottle of Peanut Brittle yesterday and messed up on the acetyl pyrazine amount (might not be in my older recipe). Anyway I needed to add 2 ml more and I dropped a drop on a paper towel, darn does it smell good, I should make some Caramel Corn now maybe.

I haven't ordered any acetyl pyrazine. Does it add to the flavor in that recipe? I thought it was just used to stabilize flavors in a recipe.

It's often added to a lot of different nut flavors, though *very* lightly, or it winds up tasting like Fritos. :D It's also good in some tobacco mixes.

I used 4.5 ml for the 450 ml bottle, probably could have used less.

To be honest, since I got some of it, so I know what it smells/tastes like now, I find that I don't really need to use the straight AP, because anything nutty in my mixes (hazelnut is the most common) already has that in it. In fact some of the TFA DX flavors have it when it doesn't really belong there, and it's kinda overpowering -- the DX Cinnamon Danish for example. Maybe they're using it to cover the butyric acid.

AP can help some mixes at low doses mostly tobbaccos and if if you want that corn chip taste it is a fine line with this stuff so be carefull not to add too much. for my own taste if I can detect the specific AP, it was too much added. unless your going for that taste.

I've tried both Capella's Hazelnut v2 and TFA's DX Hazelnut, both diketone-free, and I think the TFA is better; both have an obvious AP presence, but the TFA is a more subtle flavor, more like actual hazelnut.

AP is used by a lot of "real" bakery's too. It does add to your bakery flavors, but you have to be real careful
It is hard to get a small amount, so I poured a few ml's of it in a separate bottle, and split it in half with PG. .. much easier to work with. :thumb:
I've never used enough to get the "Frito's Corn Chip" taste ... the amount I use usually gives me a slight "nutty" flavor. I like that because none of my "nut flavor" concentrates seen to have any flavor.
I admit the flavorings are getting old, .. and so are my taste buds, but AP fills the gap.

I have ap but haven't tried after all this time, I gave away some to someone who used to post here so she could try out in her mixes.....mmmmmm. another taste is subjective...I love tfa' s butterscotch, only have tried fa' s first and didn't like it(yeah I know, ???!!!) haven't tried fw(supposed to be one of the best if not the best for bs, contains "the bads", I know) or nf. Tfa's is rich and smooth, almost caramel and butter rum...aged out...lovely...think I use at 3-6%(or 7), with supporting flavors....not like those yellow wrapped candies but a richer almost bs fudge thing....that's my take, always enjoy others' views on flavors ...

I need to look harder for some type of organizer. I have mostly 15 and 30ml bottles and keep little 6ml bottles of some flavors for 100Dt.

I just loaded some of the strawberry milkshake I made earlier and don't taste the strawberry very much at 5%. The dulche is very up front in it. I might let it sit overnight to see if it smooths out some.
DDL does smooth up after a couple of days.

Might I suggest that, as a base, you mix up Bill's milkshake base all by itself then use that in varying accounts in your mix.

Something like:
7% strawberry
3% strawberry ripe
8-10% milkshake base
2% cotton candy sounds about right for me.

I like a vanilla milkshake base that I can add other flavors to. I've used the following milkshake base successfully with chocolate, strawberry and banana:

Bill's Vanilla Milkshake Base

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - 10%
Marshmallow - 5%
French Vanilla Deluxe - 4%
Sweetener - 3%
Dulce de Leche - 2%
Koolada - 1%

Here was the journey into milkshake land:

This is a true base mix and does play nice with others. Good luck! :toast: :D

For those that don't know.. I used this base and omitted the Koolada .. but added 4% Strawberry 2% Strawberrry Ripe and its a 30% mix .. It is an ADV and the guys at the shop love it .. Thanks Bill once again for this :)

That is identical to the strawberry milk shake juice I made, though I kept the koolada in the mix. I always intended that the base at 25% would be used at 25% of the mix, and not diluted, though it could be if the supporting flavors got to say 10% or more. Glad you liked it! Vape On and good luck! :toast: :D

I have only one butterscotch recipe which I call Lion. Here's a repost if anyone is interested:

Haven't been in the vape lab in months (on new mixes). But, as a request to an ECF friend, I copied a commercial juice and here is Bill's Lion.

Bill's Lion

Butterscotch - 10%
Bavarian Cream - 6%
Cotton Candy - 3%
Vanilla Swirl - 3%
Acetyl Pyrazine - 1%

Jo, asked me to add this to the rotation, so I know at least one person likes this. I could smell all but the AP on opening the commercial juice, instantly. After three 100DT's I could detect the missing AP, which I almost never use, but there it was, and it does help this recipe. Not a huge fan of the butter scotch myself, but if you like butterscotch, you may like this recipe. To get an exact copy of the commercial juice, one could add 2% butter and remove the vanilla swirl, which will add the chemical taste on the exhale back to the mix. I thought it was better without it. Good luck! :toast: :D
